Great application.

just had the biggest scare of my life....

took my x10 out of my jacket pocket and it was powered off. I thought "did i use up all the battery already?" So, I plug it in to charge and wait for it to power up. It DOESN'T. So, I try the direct wall charger. Still doesn't power up. Take the battery out and pop it back in. WON'T POWER UP! By this time, i start thinking "what the hell am i gonna do!?" "I don't want to go back to a flip phone!" "MY X10!!! NOOOOOOOO" "MY TEXTS!!"..

So, I try one more time. Take the battery out and wait a good 30 seconds. Inspect the battery and pop it back in and hit the power button. That little vibration sensation before the screen comes on was like the touch of god. Horns blew in the background as angels sang hallelujah!

Everything seems fine. I went through and backed everything up to SD.... this is the first, and hopefully the LAST time this will happen.

Happened to my X2 too, once.

For an ultimate data counter, download 3G watchdog. It's a free and excellent application

Posted by Hobbs
Moogoo Thank goodness it eventually powered up.Nothing worse than the thought of a service technicians fingers all over your phone. That for me is my biggest nightmare.

I noticed this does happen with the X10. I figured out that it the length of time you need to press the power button that changes. Sometimes it's a moment or two, sometimes it's a few seconds longer. Scared me the first time too.

My experience is when you power off the phone and the screen goes black and you instantly press the power button nothing happens (i think it's becous the phone is not 100% off) and if you just wait a few sec untill you press again it will boot as normal. (the same if you don't feel the vibration as fast as it should, i just wait a few sec and press on again) and it will boot.

happened to me once when the phone was running 1.6
i was on a call, hang up, battery was like 55%,
10 minutes later, picked it up to make another call, the phone was off
tried to turn it on, the led flashed red several times
took the battery out but still the same behavior
connected it to the charger and 3 minutes later the phone was on and battery 0% (WTH?)
and this never happened again

Posted by OffLineR
@20545ZR16
That is a different case IMO.
Same thing happened to me that happened to moogoo.
I had to take out the battery and wait for couple of minutes.
Than I could turn the phone on.
But the battery was still good.

That happened me twice but since 2.1 it hasn't happened.

Posted by Indiandawg
I know this question is so not good when it comes to X10 but are we going to get 2.2?
I need adobe flash on my X10.

Posted by moogoo
well, it's good to know i'm not the only one it has happened to and even better to know that it seems to be a once and done type thing.

WHEW!

@Indiandawg
The next update for the x10 is less than a month away. It's still based on 2.1 and will have improvements to timescape and mediascape.

I think the most common reason for Google Account connection problems is that you have the WAP connection as default connection type. Have you checked which connection is set as default? You can find it by going to Settings>Wireless & Networks>Mobile networks>Access Point Names (that's where it's on my X8 at least). I remember I had to manually set up a new APN named "Internet" as only the WAP and MMS settings were automatically set when I entered the SIM card for the first time as (at least) Gmail and Android Market don't work if WAP is selected as default connection. You can get the correct settings from your operator.

I hope this helps...

I have never been so motherf...ing frustrated.
X10 cannot connect to this damned Google.

What do you mean by this post?
I got the automatic settings by sms.

This device just doesn't perform any connection when trying to connect to Google. Nothing.

I have no f.ing idea what to do!!!!!!!

May be tomorrow or in few days am planning to get 3G. Honestly, am very excited about this as I have always dreamed of having fast internet connection on my mobile since a kid lol. This is going to be awsome. So that was the reason I asked you guys for 2.2 update as I really want X10 to completely replace my Macbook pro

I guess it's about time. I'm expecting 2.2 in Q2 2011. Fingers crossed!

@Indiandawg
X10 will never get an official update to 2.2 since their engineers never got to work on it in the first place.SE directly jumped from 2.1 to 2.3. Whether they are working on a 2.3 update for x10 is unknown but all future phones will be outed with 2.3 as that's what has been made available to the engineers.

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Wow I can't believe how much better Swift Key is compared to the default 2.1 X10 keyboard. Definitely going to keep seeking out new keyboards now because I absolutely hate the X10 default. The one on 1.6 was miles better.

I know what you saying. But 2.3 is definitely not going to happen.
While 2.2 is just a hope that it happens!

BTW are you using 3G network?

Posted by Karun
Not yet. The plans which have been unveiled offer too little data to be of any use.

Posted by woz2010

I have a new phone coming today from Orange as I still have the occasional restart problem.

I will want rid of the Orange Firmware, anyone know the code for the UK Generic stuff I need to install through Davinci ?

@woz2010 the first post in this xda thread has a list of regions and codes (as well as instructions on how to debrand without the need for free)

Dominitry, you are very right. I esperienced the same problem and when i set up a new account with 'internet, instead of wap as APN it worked like magic.

My X10's battery performance improved vastly.
If I use it seldom it holds two days.
If I use it moderate it holds 1,5 days
If I use it heavily it hold until midnights from 8 Am in the morning.

I just installed OsMonitor and killed face recognition application.
I haven't rooted my phone or uninstalled any other programs.

Hmm but what is the difference?
I set a new Access Point manually and the problem was the same....
What is the trick?

P.S. But I just probably gave up X10. Hard to stand Android graphics.
I bought WindowsPhone7 device. THAT is UI!!!

Someone who knows how to improve the ridiculous led flash on the x10 ?
Any rumours if it will be improved in the next fw update ?

Yes, the X10 flash is a joke. Coming from the brilliant flash of the C905 and then the fairly good flash of the Aino, the X10 disappoints me. The only way to take a decent night shot is to increase the exposure to compensate for the low light.

Posted by rikken
The flash is even much better on my w995

Posted by SKIBBE
What do you guys expect from a LED (flash)?? it's not suposed to be good as a xeon-flash. i never use it, only as a torch and that works great.

Hey how do you kill face recognition completely?

Posted by Rookwise
Goto Settings, Applications,Running Applications. You can stop face recognition from there.

Notice something else on my x10 today. Instead of scrolling across each standby screen. Hold your finger on one of the set of dots in the bottom corners of the screen. You get some small thumbnails of all the standby screens. Just tap the one you want to go to.

Posted by erickson813
i only use my LED flash as a flashlight not fot taking pictures.

I never expected xenon performance but it is the worst flash I have had on a phone. Even the w715 had better flash I find it odd that SE made the flash worse on the x10 than they did on the x10 mini

It is a nice torch tho`
