These are rumors, so nothing is confirmed...

This is a discussion regarding the X10... not the iPhone or the Nexus one...

Posted by mediar
S700 had CCD sensor too, but is it a good camera phone for these days? The quality of the photo doesn't depend on the sensor ( it does, but not in the phones ).

CMOS sensors have surpassed CCDs in terms of image quality and dynamic range quite a while ago. To make a CCD sensor that matches a modern day CMOS, the cost would be several times higher. The Nikon D700 is the current lowlight and dynamic range champion in DSLRs and guess what? It uses CMOS.

Posted by se_dude
its insane to compare digicams with DSLRs. CCDs are better suited for low level cameras where sensor size poses a problem but the price is a problem.

Posted by synn
You're mistaken.

CCDs make sense only in bigger sensor sizes. They technically have better dynamic range, but cannot be mass produced cheaply. They are still used in astro cams and medium formats (Leica R system, 'blads, Mamiya/PhaseOnes, et al). The cheap-ass CCDs used in some point and shoots are nowhere close to the real deal.

Do you think that the one in iPhone is going to be a real deal?

Ahh who cares about Crapple iPhone?

The Sony Ericsson X10 has won my heart
The speed when he flicks around, is just amazing

I don't know if he just has unsteady hands, some pictures are just way too blurry

Now go start a new thread if you find next generation iPhone more interesting.

These photo examples are more than great for a phone, aren't they? And that's still a prototype, 2 months before release.

Was wondering that myself. It does look more like an unsteady hand blurr rather than an out of focus blurr. But who knows (beside Rog that is).

Firstly please do not flame me, I am not slapping anyone's kids I am merely discussing a device and how its potential performance may be afected by software mods OK?

That SE timescape or mediascape what ever it is interface seems to scroll far too fast to be of any use if you are searching for a specific contact I hope it can be slowed down in settings? Sure It looks very "pretty" having moving 3D images but that uses processor and battery power so maybe its a feature many will get fed up with once they see how badly it cripples battery life?

Unfortunately this video does not show how quickly this mediascape or timescape interface loads and how it is affected by having lets say 800 contacts on Google, and how the device's speed is affected when switching between its self and the "native" android applications.

I will have a much better idea on android later today as a good friend just got an android device for Xmas!

Thanks for clarifying that Rog and it's nice to see you around!

@rog-What is the probability of a bug free phone on release? And is it releasing this Feb?Also, what are the main areas of concern?

Bug-free? 0. But its hard (impossible?) for a company to release a bug free product. This is SE first Android device, first Snapdragon device, first capacitive touch device, there are bound to be issues.

Hopefully SE can deliver a stable product.

Posted by rog
The probabiliy for a bug-free phone is 0% - but that's just because there is no such thing as a bug free software. I think the software has made a lot of progress lately, it is pretty stable already, but still has hick ups every now and then.

Main areas of concern: a few only really. Battery lifetime is one, and maybe that Timescape is a little too overwhelming for everyday-use, it might be too much information at once. But other than that: amazing phone, hardware- and software-wise.

Ive read on a swedish forum that in the latest sw, spotify is included in timescape/mediascape. Is it true or just a missunderstanding?

Posted by se_dude
Cant the timescape options be accessed from the contacts menu as well?

Posted by anders260
@kingcool88, do you have the link to the swedish forum were they stating this?

Posted by Dups!
Based on rog's impressions/assesment it looks like the phone is almost there, or is it, knowing SE?

This could turn out to be a bestseller for SE.

Hopefully, it is!

Does anyone know where to preorder a white X10 in UK?

Posted by masseur
Clove technology

Posted by OffLineR
Thnx masseur.
How can I be sure that CLove is a reliable seller?

Posted by masseur
I've been using them for more than 10 years... since the days of the Psion 3a.
You should have no concern with their reliability but they may not neccessarily be the first to receive shipments but you can still place a pre-order and cancel if you find it elsewhere sooner

Thanks a lot.

But what do you want to be laggy on this video?!

There's nothing really shown there.
You get excited over two actions on the device,
wait for a real walk through!

Uhm, No! My intentions were strickly comical, of course I know not to buy from them. Thats why I said dont drink the kool-aid. But maybe someone here who doesn't know and now they know. And besides the the website looking shady, they are also in Illnois USA....They are DEFINITELY NOT getting an x10 imported version before the overseas retailers do.

some one here assured us this was all a publicity stunt!
"Google has invited journalists to an event next Tuesday, prompting speculation that they will announce the launch the Google Nexus One mobile phone"

Posted by se_dude
Someone probably cant read english and thinks its a Nexus One thread.

Posted by ojva
Does X10 have a GPU or is it the processor that handles the graphics? If X10 have a GPU, which one is it?

Posted by anders260
GPU = AMD z430(now rebranded adreno 200)

Posted by kingcool88
According to a guy at a Swedish forum, X10 got 29.0 fps on 3D Benchmark test
Check what the Nexus got...

hi guys, new user here

Anyway it looks like the X10 wont have a built in FM Radio, but will it have some sort of attachment so we can listen to it and more importantly will it come with the phone itself?

Posted by goldenface
I doubt it. The MW600 looks like an option.
