Post processing algorithm seems to be very similar to W995 rather than C905, especially in dimmer environments. But the major turn off is that it's noise riddled, W.T.F? What the hell is wrong with SE? I'm looking at Satio as replacement for my father's C902 so I'm kinda scrutinizing things on a macro scale right now. I don't have a problem with it in W995 as I was well aware of its shortcomings before I bought it and has since found more or less a workaround but in Satio?? SE keeps falling short of our expectations don't they?

Not AFAIK yet. I dont think activating macro is all that difficult, its 3 screen presses. Takes a couple of seconds.

Personally i'd stick with the Satio, or go for a N97 mini. Im not a fan of Samsung phones as nice as they are they're more limited for things like apps.

Yeah I'll probably still go with the Satio, well anyway if I go with the samsung it would be for the touch screen not because of the macro issue.

It's actually also three presses on the C905, but the same key, you don't have to move around the screen. Mind you it was one press on the K800 and I learnt to live with it on the C905 so...

RE: Samsung HD and applications, it runs the same OS as the Satio, and in my initial overview it seemed more or less the same interface on both phones? Am I missing something? Are s60 apps not compatible from one manufacturer's iteration of s60 to another? This would be a major bummer. So much for competing with iphone and Android for app availability...

As far a photos go, Satio seems to be better, and the macro shots in this thread are as good as the C905. Also Samsung HD doesn't have proper flash.

Satio's stongest point is the macro with flash.

Without Flash

damn how did you get the SLR mclaren to come out in such great quality? the pictures I take with my Satio usually come out pretty horribly, I figure using the flash makes a big difference but I haven't tried it on broader shots and outdoor shots...

Here is a pic I took today with flash on. I just got these shoes and the color is just beautiful with flash.

davidsic, those are great outdoor shots, I can't seem to get such great outdoor pictures, are you playing around with certain settings and exposures? I understand when you remove an outer lens on the iphone the camera gets so much better, can we do this with the satio?

Posted by davidsic
@ Monaco: thanks, remove an outer lens ? No, i just play sometimes a bit with the exposure.

@ atemesiro - The optics they used on Satio are just average in terms of quality... I'm waiting for another Satio though, a silver one this time.

here are some from my satio, one is an audi r8 for an example of how horrible some pictures can be...

I still haven't captured a great photo yet but I just wanted to show some different scenarios

View of Los Angeles

Santa Monica Beach

I wasn't big on taking pictures with the Satio but I think I will more and more now and see the quality of shots I can get.

Nice californian pics Monaco

Damn it is so hard to believe the types of pictures you get by simply changing the exposure...

It is very difficult to tell if the picture came out good or bad because you can't tell until you load it on the computer screen to see a bigger picture.

What are some ways you guys use to tell that the picture came out good? What settings do you usually use? Do you use best pic? or change it around all the time?

Posted by zide
No, the key is taking lots and lots of pictures. Eventually, some will become good. Take lots of photos, test different settings, and take more again. It will be great if you keep 1 out of 10! With time and practice you'll get what it needs to take always good photos.

Hi All owner of Satio.
Why always shoot flower and Tree? I want to see landscape view, mountain, forest, park etc..... as m8912 owner Sassho

Posted by etaab
Sassho probably isnt the best person to ask when it comes to cameraphones, he/she is very childish and biased towards the Samsung. Unfortunately i do not have many landscape shots, i tried to make some yesterday evening using the landscape setting on my Satio, the shots turned out terrible, no focus and blurred. Possibly due to the fading light however. In the past ive always used autofocus on landscapes, so ill probably go back to that method in future.

@ Monaco: however it's simple for my last shots : Sun behind me, sometimes decrease the exposure and shoot. The light conditions were good.

Nice shot davidsic. Finally an impressive shot from Satio.

Could you post the full-size here please?

Posted by davidsic
