Hello guys. I've been a fan of SE cameraphones for a long time. Since September 2009 I am an owner of c905 and really enjoying its overall quality in all aspects. I like its camera performance, design e.t.c. but sooner or later I'll have to move forward.
Of course I decided to check the latest SE photo flagship and you know what? After playing with my friend's Satio I was awfully disappointed with its camera. But he has bought his phone in the very beginning of its availability on the shelves. And I remember the good old tradition of SE to improve quality a lot in the further updates. So tell me please is the camera of Satio with the latest driver comparable with c905 and pixon12? Or talking honestly it's still worse the contenders?

Thank you, would have been better if the sun had shone more
indoor shots taken at night in low light so am very happy with those.

Indeed, due to the bad weather I haven't had the possibility to test the Satio with a decent sun light yet. So far, I'm very satisfied with its camera though.

Some of your pictures are amazing larry68.

Some indoor, macro and good light shots are fantastic.
I too cant wait for summer and the chance to take better photo's
I have of course posted the best photos of the ones I took this weekend.

I've been testing the 12MP vs 9MP and, in 100% crops, the 9MP seems a little (very little) better.

I wanted to share some pictures from a camera satio

Satiology

Nice photos you have there!

I've been testing Satios camera today, and I came to a conclusion: why in tha freaking hell is SE decreasing sharpness in their photos? This high-end camera phone should have, at least, a sharpness control feature like many Nseries Nokias...
Here I have some comparison shots so you can see it for yourselfs, the original is followed by the edited one (post processed with Satios editor - maximum sharpness)

07032010176

07032010176-001

07032010169

07032010169-001

07032010158

07032010158-001

This is where Satio loses to Pixon12 and I'm seriously thinking about swapping them... Well, call me picky but I think this makes the photos completely different. Your help would be much appreciate modders!

zide I agree, many photos taken by satio benefit greatly by editing the sharpness after, does not make sense.

At least it still takes good photos that look fine in the phone and is easy to sharpen before downloading to pc.

If you print will understand how bad is excessive sharpness...
The post processing works like nokia phones but out of the camera.

Still, that does not make sense. Nowadays, just a few percentage print out photos. And, in that case, it would make more sense to reduce sharpness once in a while than increasing in every photo that is not to be printed.

Hope someone finds a way to mod it!

@ Eltoffer

Indeed! Those photos seem sharper! I'll wait for the update and then I'll test it again!

@ HxH

I believe you should turn your stablizer off.

Heres mine... from Indonesia using satio

Posted by Christoforo
would the satio with the new update be a good phone for exotic car spotting for youtube videos.

Posted by HxH
@zide

will try next time

Posted by etaab
Not been on here for a little while since im pretty addicted to Modern Warfare 2. Heres my efforts.

Posted by zide
Nice etaab! Once again, it is evident the lack of sharpness in those photos. Those smooth edges take away too much detail of the photo...

You should update your phone and take more photos of that landscape so we can test them. They're saying that the new firmware has more sharpness.

Come on guys, start using your Satios Camera and share with the guys here!

@eltoffer

What are you talking about ? i dont believe my pictures lack anything at all. If they do not look sharp its probably because imagshack has downsized them to 800x600 (by my own choice) to fit the forum. My Satio has current up to date firmware also.

Once upon a time a i used to ask people to post raw images of from their cameraphones on sites such as esato so that we could see the quality. However, since phones started getting much higher megapixel cameras built into them the photos ruin the forum if not downscaled. These days id rather see them smaller so i dont have to piddle about downloading the picture to my pc to then open independently. Finally regarding those pictures, ive noticed imageshack add more noise or grain to the images via compressing them when downscaling. The originals had no such noise.

Posted by zide
Yes they lack. The post-processing in Satio makes the photos look smooth, with low sharpness on edges. Still, can we see your two first shots in full size?

Look at this photo from a Pixon12: (not taken by me)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/time4photos2009/4064838045/sizes/l/

That's what I'm taling about.

Pixon 12 have excellent sharpness but the colors are extremely blueish... I hate cold pictures

Posted by zide
Satio can have that sharpness too! It's all a matter of post-processing. This should be changed.

Posted by HxH
Really nice but I feel not natural like satio can produce
