We have many official thread in Esato, so why don’t we have an official movies thread? I’ve seen many threads about movies, but maybe it is better to discuss about all in one thread. So here we go.

If the thread name isn’t proper or we have another thread like this then correct me or feel free to edit (mod).

Few days ago I've seen "The Other Boleyn Girl". Is it based on a true story? Has another one seen it?

i haven't. Yesterday i watched robocop in blu ray. Great films great looks. Gonna rip it to my hd shortly. Btw..leave gi joe and orphan alone. Gi joe is a series of cliches and shit acting. . Orphan. . Jesus. Where do i begin. . Lol.

Posted by arien617
Inglourious Basterds. Christoph Waltz.

Nothing further to say.

Posted by nicv27
I saw GI joe with my godson he enjoyed it, it`s not that bad. The only other films i have seen recently are "Drag me to hell" and "The haunting in Connecticut" both of which i thought were good Drag me to hell although was billed as a horror had some hilarious moments

I also have seen the Robocop last week. Definitely great movie. But villain Robot’s movement or action wasn’t smooth; may be that was the latest tricks on that time. Just compare to Transformer, nowadays we have revolution in computer generated part in movies. I used to see the TV serial of Robocop when I was child.

Just have the “Final Destination” all parts. Had seen before but want to see again.

I have just finished seeing the Final destination 1 and 2. Did you guys hear the Theme song of FD2? “My name is death” by Jude, nice lyrics:

I'm right behind you
Here I come
Let me remind you
You're on the run
My name is death
Come taste my peppermint-laced breath.

Final Destination and District 9 are ones I'm off to see this week. Not sure which one first though but the last 3D movie I seen was a good laugh. I think it was My Bloody Valentine, had me ducking and diving.

Posted by nicv27
i saw Final destination 3d and it was very good, it had some really funny bits in it. my next visit to the cinema is for "Dance Flick"

Posted by goldenface
Just come back from seeing District 9 and it wasn't anything like I expected. The main character is brilliant, both funny and desperate.

Special effects are fantastic, the aliens weapons reminded me of the ones the Aliens use in the film War Of The Worlds (the ones that zap the humans into dust)

Best line of the movie was "don't you point your f%&ckin tentacles at me". Honestly, laughing for about 5 mins.

9/10 highly recommended. It's wide open for a sequel. Yes, I did see the P1i.

Final Destination next. . . .

Posted by nicv27
Saw District 9 thought it was a good film very funny in places and didn't know what to expect as i had not seen any previews. Worth watching though. Next film i`m off to see is the teen horror "Sorority Row".

Posted by gola
Did I hear someone say District 9, yeah, I actually think it's better G.I Joe, I'm just saying my thoughts:)

Posted by adnansanni
I’ve just enjoyed the District 9. It’s a great movie. It shows the true nature of Human that try to make money from whatever we have.

the last movie i saw in the cinema was a local one

the most recent foreign film though that i saw in the theater is transformers 2
don't like it much as there are many obvious inconsistencies in its story
the first transformer installment is better

the latest movie i saw on dvd is the reunion movie of 3 titanic stars: the revolutionary road
kate winslet is so so so good. and beautiful too
her husband excellently directed the movie

Posted by adnansanni
Yeah, Transformers 2 isn’t good as Transformers 1.
I remember “The Revolutionary road”, it’s a good one. Recently saw “the reader” where also performer is Kate Winslet. If you see that movie then you’ll see how Kate is capable of acting. Brilliant movie.

Posted by crossmatched
i think 'Revolutionary Road' is heavier (dramatically) than 'The Reader'.
i like the lines. they are quotable.
just like in titanic, kate winslet is ever comfortable in showing off her breasts

Posted by nicv27
Saw teen horror "Sorority Row" it`s actually quite good a few jumpy bits and some good one liners. The end is wide open for a sequel

so what do you all reckon about the coming remakes?

fame
last starfighter
karate kid (with Jackie Chan as the master and Will Smiths son as the student)
death wish
footloose

etc etc

remakes seem to be the new way to go rather than sequels

I wasn't a fan of the original Fame but apparently some of the reviews have been quite good, The karate kid could be good i guess. I liked the Original Death Wish though.
what film`s shouldn't be remade????

Posted by crossmatched
i am looking forward to that karate kid movie.
the orig karate kid movie was an inspiration for me as a kid way back then

I just watched "drag me to hell", made by the same producers as Spiderman and the Evil dead although the film was quite cliched in places it was still watchable and made me jump a few times.

I watched it yesterday thought it was visually amazing and has to be seen in 3D only just won't be any good in 2D since this film was designed for 3D cinema. Not much of a plot though i thought the story was very weak but the visuals more than made up for that overall a must see!

Posted by goldenface
Cheers, I heard the visuals were amazing and I'm well into 3D at the moment.

Couple of films me and my missus have watched recently, majority of them got the thumbs up...

Up - latest pixar film, loved it, I even welled up at the beginning

Surrogates - Bruce Willis, robots, and the gorgeous Radha Mitchell, whats not to like?? (by the way watch out for the scene where Bruce goes off to chase someone and he gets in a Toyota Prius!!)

District 9 - Similar storytelling to Cloverfield but not as much camera swaying and a better storyline

Pandorum - Horror film, no idea how its a 15 rating in the UK, scared the crap out of me!!!

The Ugly Truth - Katherine Phwoar Heigl, the film we watched after Pandorum (to stop me from having nightmares)

Michael Jackson's This Is It - Very interesting, from seeing this, the planned concerts would have been fab!!

The Invention Of Lying - Good idea, liked the premise, but would have fared better if I'd have played the lead (I'm not a fan of Ricky gervais!!)

watched Legion, edge of darkness, law abiding citizen over the last few days. Legion was very average, edge of darkness is a half arsed payback clone. Law abiding citizen was fantastic. Highly recommend it.
