Question about MDS-65 and MRC-60

I really want a MDS-65 because they look sharp, and the thing turns so it should be compatable with and side ports phones i get in the future. And either way I'll get one, just wondering if the MRC-60 can be used with it. Is the controller BT? or IR to the MRC-60 Base? How does that work?
