^^ Indeed the details are stunning, noise reduction is almost perfect, but i notice one big problem: traces of some edge oversharpening (no, don't associate this things with N-R) or oversaturation of reds whatever it is(just look at the overcooked reds on the car and the one at the top of the building) just take note that we can't compare the samples from gsmarena to the samples of satio as well. the daylight is prevalent on pixon while on the satio it is obvious that it isn't (especially the leave-less trees on satio). which gives us an idea of what was the daylight conditions on both scenes when each of them where captured.

Nice camera but way expensive.
With that price,Satio still the best choice.

Posted by se_dude
Is it me or do the skies or the blank ares look extremely oversharpened??

Posted by Bonovox
One thing i am starting to notice. Samsung cameras and technology is far out reaching Sony Ericsson. Sad but true. I noticed their camera quality is always way sharper now.

Posted by NightBlade
640 euros is waaaay too expensive for this.

Posted by jj03
i don't know, given the n97 is expensive for what it is..600.00 in my local nok store, i know what i'd choose. . Im soo tempted by this, but, it would be my first touch and i don't know how id go. . Lol. Also, more of a concern is firmware updates. Can anybody shed some lite on updates from samsung?

Posted by norbi_nw
Will i live to see the day when the blind SE fans admit that it takes nice pictures? -.-
i DL them from gsmarena, and looket at them. Very very nice shooter. OFC the price is high, but it will drop alot in 2 months. I don't say the Satio is worse, it can be as good as this one. It's the software now that makes the difference. I am afraid SE will use too much noise reduction and bad PP.. :/ but let's wait and see. I would be happy to se Satio better. Any better than this and i jizz in my pants.

Posted by Luci'sPower
the first koreean phone with great xenon and not some crappy one........ that's good news!

But why take pics at a distance of 2 metres?? I would like them to use the xenon atleast a distance of 4 metres from the wall.

It should be able to illuminate the whole room if it was in complete darkness. Even though the xenon flash unit looks smaller than the one used on the N82, it should still be able to illuminate the room pretty well.

Posted by norbi_nw
a absolutely adore the noise filter and the post processing on this one!!! just like the old K750i!!!!! perfect noise and sharpness balance. What SE failed to do, samsung did it (failed = gave up). If the satio will use the same (i doubt it :/) i will bag it.

Posted by jj03
Having read the second part of the review, i felt slightly let down when they mentioned the video recording was a bit of a let down..so close to being perfect (for me)...having been use to the n82's very good video recording. still...theres time yet...

The label at the lower right edge is weird i think that only thing that's impressive imo is the camera and flash quality as everything from design, display, and software is merely copied from their previous models. i wont expect M8920 to take better shots than this anyway because of one thing: zoom lens.

One day someone will release The Perfect Phone lol until then we shall all keep moaning. I would be happy with this phone anyday cant complain at Samsung or LG they are throwing out top quality phones with top quality features and technology so fast Sony Ericsson cant keep up or Nokia. Shame on them

Posted by jj03
^^ very true. Samsung are making huge strides. . I'll consider this handset. . First time ive ever considered a samsung..im due to upgrade in august and am away to rome and ny in october so i want something with best possible quality, both pic wise and video wise (rules out a se then dont it. . Qvga recording is ssooo yesterday lol)

Posted by Bonovox
QVGA video so yesterday very right indeed. Even Nokia on some of their cheaper phones were making VGA video recording years ago although at 15fps it was still better than SE. What i dont understand is why when Sony Ericsson has the name Sony under their badge and they are from the far east like Samsung or LG yet Sony are still so far behind? I dont get it. Why is Sony not putting more of its tech and know how into its venture with Ericsson? Sony were once the top innovators whats happened? Well done to Samsung for racing ahead i say. Many years ago i hated Samsung.

Posted by se_dude
Well this phone records in D1 and the Satio in VGA. Isnt too much of a difference. or is it?? And make that stereo sound recording for the satio.

Posted by driftmania
GSMArena says that the video recording is pretty disappointing.

Posted by Luci'sPower
it will be better when the phone is released

Posted by jj03
i could be wrong, but back in the day, didn't the w900 have vga vid @30fps? Im sure the se rep highlighted its video prowess. .it was a few years back so. .

Nope, it was QVGA@30FPS in .3GP format.

According to the Phones4U website now it says you can pre-order for delivery on 1st August

It did say September but has obviously been updated recently!

Samsung are so fast at bringing their top phones to market. Sony Ericsson ahem......

Posted by northmonkey
I just want to know a price for it now, I'm going to buy it sim free!

This website has it for £346.14 http://www.handtec.co.uk/product.php?xProd=2138 but I'm expecting it to cost around £450-£550.

Looks to be out on Orange I hope it does not come with all those horrible menus. They have a bit of a head start over SE and LG.

This will be the best camera phone shame the video is not as good. I'll need to get one.

You could always debrand it, i'm just hoping it will be out sim free when it comes out on orange otherwise i'll end up having to buy one on fleabay lol.

Posted by northmonkey
The bad thing is Phones4U have this phone exclusively on contract on Orange from the 1st August, which means it won't be available sim free until sometime in September unless people start selling them on ebay or something.

Posted by davicol
As far, as i saw ,on their site handtec will have it sim free

Yes i have seen it on the handtec website but they probably won't start selling it until September, The thing is though the price on handtec seems way too cheap for this phone, £346.14.

Gotta give my hats off to Samsung. These guys are really giving Nokia a run of their money - despite still on top of the market, it seems that anything Nokia does, Samsung can also do effortlessly and even surpass them in certain aspects. This phone is not even a smartphone FFS!!!

Posted by Bonovox
Indeed they are won't be long we see when they take the top spot. Samsung not only produce quality phones they are also reliable too. That's what people want and GSM Arena review says it all

Posted by se80
Seems all quiet on this phone at the moment..should be the best phone on the market as the Omnia HD is massive..

I've not seen any display models out yet...does anybody know if it comes with a 16GB card and what price range can I expect to pay sim free about £350 - £400?

I may hold off as it's released on Orange and it will have all the ugly box and branding won't it?

Posted by northmonkey
I want it too but i'm not going to wait forever.......It is only released on 1st August 2009 on Orange on contract, It probably won't be available sim free until around Mid-Late September unless people start listing them on Ebay as soon as they are released on Orange contract on 1st August 2009.

Sim Free, It looks as though it is going to cost between £400-£550.

I want a touchscreen phone with a decent camera, I have the original Samsung Pixon M8800 and it's a very good phone but the Pixon 12 M8910 has a lot of improvements such as AMOLED screen, Wi-Fi and a better camera with better flash etc etc.

I think we are going to be frustrated with this phone being released.

I got a SE W995 for the meantime. I want the Pixon 12 for the better camera though. I liked the old pixon but never got it due to poor flash and wi-fi the new one has all that.

It's a real shame that there is not any other decent touchscreens around with a decent flash, The LG Renoir is a phone i considered many times but it's flash is so poor that it is no better than a LED flash.

The Samsung Jet looks like a great phone but again it only has Dual LED flash, Why do companies still use LED? Surely these days they should be using Xenon & LED like the new Samsung Pixon 12 M8910.

The Samsung Pixon 12 M8910 is the phone that i really really want but i want another phone a.s.a.p and i'm just not prepared to wait weeks on end.

Hopefully some will start popping up on ebay as soon as loads of people get their new Pixon 12 delivered from Phones 4U on 1st August.

You are right that there aren’t touchscreen with decent xenon flash ATM, however the only one that has the better flash is the Renoir, weak as xenon flash but all the way better than dual or “new generation” led.
For example a led flash can’t obtain this result in total darkness:

A comparison between Renoir and Innov8:

The M8910 seems to have a strong xenon and great quality, but, probably, the new LG 12 mp. too.
I will wait 3 or 4 month for the new LG and after i will chose my new cameraphone.

well, the i8910 is big, granted, but what a screen!. I'm using it now, and finding it, after debranding from orange, hugely responsive..no lag, no nothing. It just works. Happy days.

Posted by northmonkey
PERFECT, Those comparison shots, are they in total darkness?

Posted by -PERFECT-
Yes, all in total darkness

Great purchase jj03! Can you post one pic?

jj03, the omnia HD looks great, but tell me what's the camera quality like on that phone i am curious, is it any good in low light? is the flash good or weak?

Posted by northmonkey
PERFECT can i ask you a few questions about the Renoir? as i am curious.

Is the touch screen very responsive? is it easy to text on and do you think the camera is really good? i have read some reveiws about the phone and some sites say the colours aren't very good and stuff, do you agree?

Posted by Pitzon
My Renoir was really bad with flash. Look at the samples above. Renoir chooses ISO 635??? and the Samsung Iso 200. Major difference. The Renoir shot in a little bigger size would look awful. Colours seems better also with Samsung.

I always felt that the Renoir choosed wrong Iso and that you never find the "right" value. Either to dark or to bright. And look at the distance. Is it 2 meters or so and already these flash problems.

c901, n82, c905 wipes the floor with Renoir on this.
