I've seen Aino TV advert every day for the last few days
the only issue I have heard about is some people having problems connecting with PS3

I'm getting ready to order a white one myself

Posted by Bonovox
Lucky you. I would get black myself Just wish it was full touch screen

Hihi. I know what a callback is. And there was no info about a call back here. Aino is widely advertised in Holland. My slider is solid and the touch is very responsive. 09w42 FW*49 Made in China. Got to get used to the keys though. I'm happy.

I'm on opera 5 now, first thing I did was turning inline editing off. Even browsing Esato with touch is hard (for me). btw I've got conversation, facebook, twitter, hyves, etc.

One thing i hate about Opera 5 i cant use T9 when i say post something on here for example. Why is that?

Entirely dependent on the user. I am very careful with my phones, so they usually leave me when I'm done with them still in mint condition. So of course my Aino is still perfect white. As with anything that's white though, a not so careful user would find it easy to stain.

You can turn on t9 in the options I believe.

@HxH - My white Aino is perfectly clean

@ whoever asked about the aino ads - I see them on every bus stop in Yorkshire. They're on big advertising boards too. I've not seen them on the side of buses this time though. I remember the C905 was on the side every bus.

Does anyone know if Aino works with A2 uploader? I don't want to fry my white love.

Posted by hihihans
Hihi mine is still White. 20 hours old.

Hi, would an Aino user answer to this questions, please?

1.- Is it possible to open the old media menu, start the Walkman player, and then close the slider and have it playing in the background to control it via the volume rocker? (same for the picture gallery)

2.- Does the camera have a self timer? (I ask this because i've read that it doesnt have EV controls nor scenes...

3.- Is there a noticeable difference while watching a video or picture in the screen compared with a 2.6 inches screen (W995, W960, P1)? (A picture or short video would answer this better)

4.- Can you mute a call using the volume rocker keys as with any other Sony Ericsson?

5.- Can someone post a low light video using the flash?

6.- Can you call the activity menu from the standby screen by touch (without opening the slider)?

7.- Can you use the activity menu to read your incoming messages without opening the slider? (same question for missed calls, could you reply a call by touch without opening the slider?)

8.- Can you snooze and deactivate alarms by touch?

9.- Can you start the camera or the music player without unblocking the screen (for example, by pressing the camera button)

10.-To users who has or had both the W995 and the Aino: Which one performs better in low light with flash?... do the fact that the Aino does not have Scenes nor EV controls make the imaging experience worst?...

Many many many thanks in advance for the answers you might provide.

1.- Is it possible to open the old media menu, start the Walkman player, and then close the slider and have it playing in the background to control it via the volume rocker? (same for the picture gallery).
The music continues playing and you can use the volume rockers, but you need to think of Aino like this: When the phone is open the touch screen is not useable. When it is shut, you can only use the touchscreen and it switches to touch screen interface. So if you're browsing images with the phone open, then you close it, you'll have to go through the touch menu to find the pictures again.

2.- Does the camera have a self timer? (I ask this because i've read that it doesnt have EV controls nor scenes...)
Yes.

3.- Is there a noticeable difference while watching a video or picture in the screen compared with a 2.6 inches screen (W995, W960, P1)? (A picture or short video would answer this better)
Not sure. The screen is probably a bit brighter and has more colours, but all SE screens are pretty good.

4.- Can you mute a call using the volume rocker keys as with any other Sony Ericsson?
Yes.

5.- Can someone post a low light video using the flash?
Maybe later.

6.- Can you call the activity menu from the standby screen by touch (without opening the slider)?
No, and there would be no point because it's not touch activated and there are no buttons to use it with when the phone is closed.

7.- Can you use the activity menu to read your incoming messages without opening the slider? (same question for missed calls, could you reply a call by touch without opening the slider?)
No, you need to open the phone to read them. Not sure about missed calls cause I haven't had any missed yet.

8.- Can you snooze and deactivate alarms by touch?
Yes.

9.- Can you start the camera or the music player without unblocking the screen (for example, by pressing the camera button)
You need to unlock the screen first.

10.-To users who has or had both the W995 and the Aino: Which one performs better in low light with flash?... do the fact that the Aino does not have Scenes nor EV controls make the imaging experience worst?...
Don't have both.

Many many many thanks in advance for the answers you might provide.
You're welcome.

Muhammad Oli have answered perfectly, just last question:

10.-To users who has or had both the W995 and the Aino: Which one performs better in low light with flash?... do the fact that the Aino does not have Scenes nor EV controls make the imaging experience worst?...

Ans: W995 is better in low light with flash in my opinion...

I would have to completely agree that my W995 produces far greater images in low light. In fact, I can see quite a difference in images (in favour of the W995) taken on my Aino and my W995 (both running latest firmware).

Posted by Lightspeed_x
@s32bauer & Mano82: Wow, thats a bit unexpected.. i've heard the Aino camera is better than the one in the W995. Could it be that the flash is brighter in the W995?... would it be possible to post a comparison between both? one picture from each handset would be enough...

And thanks again... these answers really are helping me decide which handset is better for my needs....

Posted by Mano82
My opinion LightSpeed that if we take picture in low light without flash, Aino is better... Take picture in low light with flash, W995 is better... Yeah flash is stronger in W995 i think... I've just sold my W995 2 days ago

Yes, I think that's the problem. When I take a picture with my W995 in low light, it lights up fairly well. But with the Aino, it was light the whole picture was filled with the flash.

I will try and post some pictures later if I remember.

I just found the answer to my own question from a couple weeks ago, and it's very strange!

I had asked if anyone knew why the alarm will only play the default ringtone even if I set it to a different one. And the answer is...

The slider has to be open when the alarm sounds in order to play your tone. If it's closed it plays the default.

This has to be an oversight by Sony!

Posted by hihihans
My alarm does exactly wat it's supposed to do. And there are scenes in the camera. hihi I downloaded a movie and it looks real smooth, I can even read the subtitles. One more thing, tried to update today but SEUS said R1BA049 is the latest fw, is it?

Posted by jhow
That's bizarre that your alarm functions normally and mine does not. You have the U10i right? And yes, the current firmware is R1BA049.

Posted by Lightspeed_x
Oh!, so it has scenes... i downloaded the manual and it says so in it... i might be confused, but i recall reading about it here at Esato... maybe its bestpic or something like that... ill check and get back here to clarify....

@s32bauer: Thanks!... a picture would be nice...

EDIT: My bad, what it does not have is EV controls nor WB controls (WhiteBalance)....

Scenes on Aino cam.

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Dude, take your phone off 16:9 resolution for photos. It takes them at only about 2 mega pixels. Sure it fills the screen, but 8 mega pixels is going to be more useful right?

Posted by hihihans
I know. I was playing around with it at that time. I do like the 3:2 7mp pics,
Also like the white part off the body above the bleu band, it changes color depending of light, white green pink.

@Mano 82
How is the sound quality of the Aino player compare to the W995i,is it the same player with same equalizer?
thank you.

Posted by Lightspeed_x
Does the Aino have a light sensor for the camera?... I've seen some pictures showing the back of the Aino, however i havent seen a light sensor, so i was wondering, how does it know when to use flash in auto mode...?

Posted by Raiderski
how does it know when to use flash in auto mode...?

it know directly from camera sensor. AutoExposure calculates ISO and exposure time value to match current light conditions. if light is low then ISO become higher and exposure time longer and somewhere in these values is border between flash on and off in auto mode

Posted by Lightspeed_x
Thanks Raiderski, i was not aware that it could be done that way, since the W995 has a light sensor in the back for that purpose...

So good news ,I found the W995 a bit too weak.

Posted by mario2004
Can the lens aperture be changed like in the N86?

Posted by hihihans
There is not really something new in the Calender.

Posted by mediar
I saw another calendar in this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?[....]D0RzQ&feature=player_embedded# . Isn't there such thing in Aino?

Posted by hihihans
nope That's Yari. Searched play-now and getjar but no results.
Maybe someone with a Yari can extract and post.

Hi.
you all downloaded the opera mini 5 beta to your Aino
from what I read it is ok but could be better.
on you tube i see that it works more then ok it works good ...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofUneWBi8GE
went to the site with my p1i and downloaded the 5beta to it and it works ... but it is not really good, must say that the response of the touch screen is much worst that the opera mini 4.2 that I have also on my p1i and there it works wonderful with the touch screen.
in the old opera i could scroll down/up page with buttons 2 and 8 in the beta up and down only with my finger on the screen, maybe it is like this only on my p1i
what I ask is did you try the older versions on your Aino like the 4.2 that I use ?... maybe it works better then the 5 beta
my 4,2 works also with the touch screen so there is no reason that yours wont
few pics i just made

It looks like I will stay using the older version (4.2)

Posted by hihihans
You're right! With OM4.2 you can use both, keys and screen.
Bolt1.5 does too. This saves a lot of wrong clicks

Posted by pt020
What is Bolt 1.5?

Message send with P1i

Posted by hihihans
Bolt is a browser too. Not as fast as Opera. And not as nice. But it's mentioned here regulary.

GSMArena has posted a review on the Aino:

http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_aino-review-413.php

Posted by hihihans
that ain't no review. We all know it's just a feature phone with a touch to it. browsing with OM4.2 works like a charm, you can use both touch and keys, movies from Media.go play very well, you can even read the subtitles. Wisepilot brought me where I wanted to go, and music is great, album pics supported. The only thing I'm not happy with is the location of the sd-card, under the back cover. I don't like opening up every time, but Media.sync/go is so slow.

Posted by Lightspeed_x
Well... they surely call it a review

Anyway, its a tad longer than the preview they used to have for the Aino...

Posted by Platia1
Hi guys I have another question

Can you use Media Go to assign Album Art to music yourself?

EDIT: Have my answer, yes you can

@hihihans

With reference to the WisePilot on Aino, can you please check something for me? Am living in Athens, Greece and the Greek street in WisePilot is in Greek language. However when am trying to enter an address in Wise Pilot I cannot choose Greek fonts but only in English. Can you please confirm if you can input Greek fonts on your Aino / WisePilot application?

Thanks.

Posted by hihihans
@ Energetic. Citys came up in Greek. But for me no Greek font at street-input. btw Greek is not a language option on my phone.

nice to hear that, makes the Aino even more interesting then it was
did you at first had also the OM 5 beta on it? and did you have also same problems that i had on my P1i with bad response of the touch and clicking on links while scrolling?,or did it work better?

Posted by hihihans
It worked pretty good with OM5 but sometimes clicked the wrong link, or clicked while scrolling, the buttons for links here are very tiny too. With OM4.2 it's much more the Aino way to go, Touch'n'Keys
