nice,i am happy for you .... can't wait for the review.

Got mine today too. Have used it for a few hours so far.

I think the slider feels a bit loose, but damn there's good sound in that headset!
The touch-part is very unstable, but I expected that.

A bit annoying that typing SMS is now done like it's done on Nokia. So have to get used to that change again. (Meaning where space and the dot is etc).

Will probably write more later when I've had it for a week or so.

Congrats to you all. :-( I'm still waiting for a call :cryl: It will be next week for me. :-) hope.

@mr_lou: Would you post a picture or two taken with the phone, or do you prefer waiting until you publish your review...?

Aino Picture Thread.

My operator has Satio in later on this month so might have to take that for the time being and then sell / trade it for Aino. Actually, I'm torn between the two now so I'll see what Satio is like but I'll probably go for the Aino.

space move to 0 numeric and dot maybe 1 numeric or sharp button, if I'm corrected quite getting used to for sometime

touch function must be used your full front fingertip touch n' move, do not use fingernail to move it maybe won't work.

latest model quite final before retails unit, it's really smooth and fine.

I do know how to use it, that's not the problem. So far it's "frozen" twice, as in simply not responding to anything. A shutdown/restart fixed it.
I suspect it happens when using a "heavy" theme. Then it feels like the phone has trouble keeping up, and somehow that resulted in a crash in the touch-part. Probably because I didn't have enough patience, and continued to try to make it respond. I dunno.
Anyway, using a more light-weight theme now, and haven't had problems since then.

When does someone make some themes for Aino? Especially some light-weight simply ones for me.

hoping by thursday.

maybe get your questions prepared and i can answer them in my review.

it will be a quick review. but will add more details later. will get as much done as i can as im heading away for weekend next week.

Thanks, mainly just want to hear more about the audio quality in comparison to other phones (plenty of Bass?) and the working range of the BlueTooth Headset, that sorta thing

I don't have a Sony Ericsson so anything I read about it would be good as I am not really familiar with the OS of it (not that I expect a multi-page OS review )

Posted by 10123
Congratulations on your purchase

Question: Is the touch screen part good, is it responsive, is it the same as any other touchscreen phone?

Question: How is the new media menu, is it easy to use, it seemes confusing having to use the phone sideways?

Question: Any bugs?

Thanks

nice phone ,happy for you. have also what to ask but will give you some time to learn it first .
looks very nice

Aino really does looked nice

Posted by Platia1
Oh yeah, I'm curious whether it has a Torch application as well (I think I saw one in a prototype preview but I don't know if that made it to the final versions)

It does. :)

My questions/requests:
1) Do you have another SE Phone, so you could upload a couple pictures next to the Aino (slider both open and closed) just to compare its size? (candybar or slider)

2) How is it in low light shots (again, one picture or two would be nice)

3) How good is its sound overall?... does it have the same eq profiles as the W995/W705 (Clear audio and clear bass)

Thats all i can think of, will edit the post if something else comes to my mind...

Many thanks in advance for doing this review!

Posted by hihihans
And? How is it? How is the speed? Is the main menu touch? Wifi and gps, does it work? How does it feel in your hand?
Any bugs, restarts, freezing or other annoying problems? Please share it with us! Aino looks cool but is it cool?

Posted by Lightspeed_x
Just out of curiosity... Is the Aino a DB3210 phone?

Thanks

Posted by sunrise_
DB3350.

Posted by Lightspeed_x
Thanks sunrise... i see, so, Aino's chipset is more powerful than the W995, right?

Posted by >500

Aino closes is as big as the 760? Damn that is....compact.

Posted by Pakzal
Played around with it a little bit last week.
I was really suprised how compact the phone is actually.

Expected a chunky phone, but its more like the opposite of it.

Posted by hihihans
@ pakzal. Any more impressions? Or is it a proto? @ Mr-Lou. Nice collection you got there.

I decided to post my experience now after 48 hours of examining the Aino, because it seems I can just keep finding stuff to write, and it's already a fairly long text to read.

Thanks for the review, your review expressed the concerns i have about the device.

Video Recording- I would love to have a decent video recorder on my phone, but it seems SE never listen. Although I didnt expect good video recording, after the poor vide quality of the X1

Touch screen- Would have expected the touchscreen to be on par with any other touch screen device, just because its limeted touch it shouldn't mean the touch screen doesnt work well.

Limeted available apps- Major concern, i doubt there will be anything available for the aino

Now the real thing.Need someone with both the Aino and the Ps3.

I have a Ps3

That reminds me, that is the only reason why i want an aino

For those who want an aino mainly for the Ps3 function it is a MUST you get play TV (ad on for PS3), if you buy that you can:

-Watch live TV on the aino
-Access all the channels available on digital (free view) on Aini
-Record TV shows on the PS3 and watch them on the aino

Play TV is pretty cheap, retail price £40

I'm not sure they don't listen. I actually think they tried, but I just think the standard is a little higher.

I'd say the touch screen is a bit above average, and just below Android/iPhone.
You have touch in the media-menu, and in JavaME applications that supports it, such as Opera Mini. (Yes you can also click links with your finger).

Personally I'm happy to have the standard UI instead of touch. That's why I believe the Aino, despite its current flaws, is the phone for me. I'm also glad that everything from the media-menu can be accessed via the standard UI. Aino is a great idea. Now it just needs to be perfected.

I wouln'd say there are limited applications. It's mostly games that suffer from the odd screen resolution. I think most applications will adapt to the screen.

I think the thing I'm most concerned about is converting my videos.

It was a nightmare when I got the X1, converting all of my videos to fill the whole screen, getting the quality right, etc.

With it's slightly unusual resolution, I'm a bit worried about videos looking a bit too stretched.

If anyone has any experience with this, please let me know!

Media Go app from SE site will automatically convert it to fit Aino. Not the fastest conversion but does it well

for those wondering, retail unit does have a torch app.

lastly, to all, i am withdrawing my promise of a review... ive decided to sell the phone. dont ask why, i think i want the x2, or something else. i may even wait to later batches of production. used it for less than a day so i probably cant answer too many q's. im sure mr lou will answer all your q's. he has also posted a short review

i have tried Media Go with a C905...

the video Quality is SUPERB.... but converted videos have the maximum framerate of 15 which is very unpleasant...

i don't know if it goes for higher framerates for the Aino..

i have tried to achieve the same quality with several apps... but with no luck!!!

Posted by NightBlade
Nonsense. Once I converted a whole episode of House and the quality was crystal clear with maximum fps. The audio was very good as well.

Posted by s32bauer
I'll definitely have to try the Media Go application later on then, sounds good.

@>500: Have you had problems mounting the phone as a flash drive? I doesn't mount anything for me on my Ubuntu Linux PC, and neither at my Windows PC at work. Nothing happens. Does it work with you?
(Go to Settings -> Connections -> USB -> Standard mode and choose the USB Flash thingy)

Posted by se_dude
@>500

Is there something wrong with the phone? Why do you want to wait for latter production models? Please post your views so that potential buyers like us can decide.

Some video-recording comparing, Nokia N82 vs SE Aino

http://dewfall.dk/N82vsAINO/

Some things I notice:
- Max framerate I can achieve with Aino seems to be 19 fps according to the Totem video player in Ubuntu. But I don't think it measures correctly.
- Movement on the Aino is kinda chunky (and even more so if I enable stabilizer), while the N82 gives smooth movement
- Aino has better colors when it's bright. N82 tends to give brownish colors, which I've also noticed on earlier videos I've recorded with N82
- N82 does a good job indoors, while Aino gives me a dark useless video with flicker. Aino is worthless when it comes to indoor video-recording. Sure, you can turn on the spotlight, but who wants that in his face?
- N82 gives almost twice the filesize, most probably because of better quality + higher framerate

Posted by jake20
how is the camera? I would like to see the quality of the pictures it produces.

Posted by mediar
So at the moment Aino is far from entertainment unlimited. I hope SE to fix some of the problems in future updates.

The Nokia's video examples have around 28 fps, but the Aino's videos have 24 fps, which is quite well. Just like a TV. This is what KMPlayer says.
