Hi, guys.

I have just joined few years ago.

I want to ask, what is DPS, ?

@ Bro Roanmey?
Could you tell me, what is the meaning of that point?

Are you asking about DSP or DPS
If you're askin about DSP then, it's a chip which handles all the audio related signals and process efficiently than the main processor.gives better output.so ultimately u get good audio quality.
DSP- digital signal processing.

Those SAR values are for the north american market only and are not valid for instance in Europe.

i also don't think that it has DSP, and the sound quality with a bluetooth headset can never beat the quality with cable headset. I think my w995 with sennheiser ie7 beat the aino, 3.5 jack with a high-end headset is always superior than a bluetooth

Posted by goldenface
Can someone please explain why audio over bluetooth can never be better than cable?

If I remember correctly, from what I'm told it has to do with the whole data going through the cables faster or something.

Posted by hihihans
Cable is always better than wireless. This is for the extra transmissions. The shorter the cable the better quality you get at the other end of the cable. This only works when you work with high quality cables. It all has to do with the loss of signal. In the end all that matters is what YOU hear. Can you tell the difference between MP3 4 WAV etc.

Try it on your own! nothing to say more than this.

I getting in love wit dis little white galz so beautiful.

Aino or Satio, can't decide. Satio is a bit too expensive for my tastes, but if i can find it cheap.

So which would you go for?

Posted by mediar
I'd take Aino, because I hate S60, but I don't think that helps you.

How annoying, the phone is capable of using touchscreen yet SE have chosen not to implement it into the menus, 3rd party software is likley to be touch enabled as well. I wouldn't of minded if they just added touch and not changed the ui, it still would be usefull than no touch at all.

Do you think it would be possible for a hack to allow touchscreen throughout the phone?

Posted by hihihans
With snap on speakers and 60 movies, just like 995

A bit expensive, €499

Posted by 10123
And that missleading photo

Posted by Bonovox
I would prefer full touch screen too

Posted by roanmy
Maybe they will implant full touch later? I remember when I got my C510 Nordic, it did not support Asian languages, but a later update made it so (Well, except Korean). And I assume this "handicapped"-touch is because of the SW, not the HW?

That looks really good. A2 has come a long way and I hope I have mine by next week. The white version looks so nice.

Posted by strizlow800
So if Opera mini 5 touch works good on Aino, it seems that people will make some use of the touchscreen except for the built in apps after all... This phone reminds me of my friend's LG Secret... LIMITED TOUCHSCREEN functions... shouldn't had done that... It would be great to see the first A2 (non smartphone) running with touchscreen...

But after all.... It's good as it is..

As I see from the pictures, SE were able to add 3.2 or 3.1 inch screen in that body. There is big black border around the screen, why hadn't implented bigger screen? Something like this one:

It would be better for watching movies and for the touchscreen menus. Don't you think?

Eh 3 is enough really. Screens always have big black borders around them. If they made it any larger the phone would be hard as hell to use.

@Guys, your definition for DSP is one sided, DSP has two different meanings.

DSP - Digital Signal Processing

DSP - Digital Sound Processor - Audio Acceleration Chipset for Decoding and Encoding audio

and Mind you guys, all phones have inbuilt Sound Processors inside their System Platform. and to achieve better audio quality a dedicated Hardware and Software Sound Engine is used. the two should never be separated if we want true quality audio, but manufacturers tend to separate these two. we haven't seen a phone with both software and hardware sound engine installed. music phones like N81, N91, N97 have dedicated chip for audio processing but the bad thing is that it doesn't have a parallel audio software engine to maximize the utilization of the hardware to produce much better audio quality than it currently has. and here comes some walkman phones coming with clear audio technology which is simply a software engine but the need for a hardware acceleration is compromised. It is similar to having a powerful graphics chip but without proper driver engine to run it at maximum performance.

Posted by goldenface
Interesting. So both hardware and software engines are required for the best results.

Posted by razec
Exactly, this is why iPods never beat sony walkmans in sound quality. sony walkmans have s-master DSP (Processor and Amplifier in one) chips and clear audio sound engine.

Posted by >500
@razec
afaik not all the Sony 's have the S-Master digital amps on board. I know the current x series do.

It's the chip Sony uses. They stick with the same (or same brand) with most of its products and it pays off!

I'm looking at the two handsets myself right now. The price will fall on the Satio once it's officially released. I'm actually a fan of S60, so the Satio has my interest.

I'm going to read the reviews on the Satio and Aino and then wait for the "early adopter" pricing to drop before I bite the bullet.

That is exactly one of the reasons the Aino is so appealing to me. I really like the UI where buttons is required, and I've never liked touch-screen much. I fear that implementing touch in the menus would only slow everything down.
It does however surprise me a bit that they seem to support touch in JavaME applications. I think that should be considered a bonus actually. Then the Aino will be able to run both touch-applications and games/applications that requires buttons. I don't think many phones can do that.

The only problem with the Aino is: It's not here yet!!!
I don't suppose anyone knows when it'll arrive in Denmark? The shops don't know anything. I'm close to buying one from ebay.co.uk.

Thank you for the link ... what you found here is very important and interesting,i want to know and ask something...
First it changes my look on the Aino completely,i found it strange that the original sony multi media did not include the internet browser on the touch screen, internet is all the fun of a touch screen, without it it's boring.
this video shows us that we can use the touch screen also with opera mini 5 beta, but is it a full touch?,can i open links? or is it only to move the picture right/left/up/down,or make it bigger and smaller?

Indeed, the double standard is very appealing. I wonder how it works out when it's in my hands. It won't be long now, hope to have it before the weekend.

That's in USA. I'd need to buy from a european shop unless I want to pay some insane tax, afaik.

Posted by hihihans
Aino adds are popping up everywhere. I'm still hoping thursday. who will be the first to have it?

Posted by goldenface
I'm waiting on a call from Phones4U.

Posted by >500
well ive elected to be the guniea pig for you all and went ahead and bought one!

will have it friday

went black. i mean white is good, really good, but would get a little dirty over time!

http://phones.shop.ebay.com.a[....]sid=p3286.c0.m14&_sop=15&_sc=1

now in vast supply on ebay... good prices too. i didnt think it would launch at this price. cheaper than what c905/w995 launched... i thought it would have launched at bout $800aud. though financial markets seem pretty good at the moment so im sure that has contributed.

i ordered this morning when only 3 sellers had them, cheapest. only because i wanted the phone by this weekend. i get home from work now. others have it. o well, whats another $10aud. at least im gonna have it for the weekend now.

and since its something relatively 'new' we have seen from recent times, ill do my first review on a phone for you all!

peace out

Those looks like preorders to me too.

I just got this message back from the shop in UK where I ordered.

Thank you for your recent pre-order of the Sony Ericsson Aino Sim Free,

We are writing to inform you there has been a small delay on the release due to Sony Ericsson having some slight technical problems which failed final testing. They have now told us stock will be arriving on Monday 12th October.

We hope you can understand this is out of our hands and we are working with Sony Ericsson to make sure the release goes as planned for all our customers.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the delay but we can assure you no one will have the stock before us.
