I hope The Laser will add support for Aino sooner or later because the original Cam driver has bad settings, it tends to use slow shutter even when the light is more than sufficiant, resulting in a slow camera with too bright photos
A modified Cam driver would permit us to control ISOs and to faster the shutter speed
I tried to take a photo of my baby niece today without success because all the photos were blurry or too bright,we were indoor but with plenty of noon sunshine from outside
Common A2uploader help us!

Thanks >500 not that I need one but I'm not sure the cover will last. They sell dummys for $30!! For that price the stand should work

The Aino screen is really very nice even if the resolution could have been better in 320x480 but I think it's because of the A2 Os limitations right?
Anyway the rendering of wallpapers is better than on ordinary 240x320 like w995, I think the 16m colors are helping too
I don't want an Android mega sized phone but an Aino style with an upgraded A3 OS would be the perfect phone for me!
The only negatives thing with Aino is that I have small cracking sound at the back cover under the camera and a slight wobble in the the lower part of the slider when opened.
Ah and the bluetooth is really weird, sometimes it freezes when I go to its menu and it doesn't see my laptop when I want to send files unless I use the Files Transfer in PC studio 6

Posted by hihihans
I'm glad you don't regret your switch from Satio. Mine doesn't wobble but it sure talks to me while texting tjip tjip

Posted by mallaccra
guys did you notice that when you slide open the phone you can feel the edge/bank of the back cover below the keypad. just be careful not to push/pull the bank coz it can open up the bottom of the back cover without you realizing it....fault design i hope not

Posted by hihihans
@ Mallacra. No, I don't feel a thing.

Posted by mallaccra
@hihihans
look at the arrow that pointing to the edge of the back cover which is in red. if you slide down your thumb from the keypad to the bottom you can feel the edge. just careful with it becoz it's part of the back cover and if you pull/push the edge the bottom part of the back cover will open up

Posted by hihihans
Oh, that, if the back-cover is not put on correctly, it is a bit open, just push, click, and it's closed.

yes sir...noted

I updated!!!

Let's see if I notice anything different.

Posted by mallaccra
hows your new fw any better in terms of the touch screen performance

Posted by hihihans
So far so good. Overall speed is improved.

Posted by vegetaleb
why did you get it with more than 1 month later?
Do you live in Alsaka?

Posted by hihihans
It is snowing but it ain't alaska nor siberia.
Beats me why it took that long, next update must be on it's way. I tried once a week without luck so I wondered which FW i'd get, hoped for a new one but this will do. I live in Holland, that's Western Europe, and have a generic Aino.

Posted by mallaccra
does any1 managed to take a full screenshot of the aino using mpe. it seems that the the phone's back light goes off pretty fast before the screenshot is completed thus the Media, Menu and Search wording can't be seen. look below

Posted by hihihans
You've got full recieption i only have that without 3G not that it matters it's working anyway maybe it's better next week i'm about to change provider
Touch-screen seems to have a better response battery- life's the same with new FW

My Aino's battery life is good now thanks to some full cycles, it used to last maximum 2 days now it can last 3 like my old w995
Yes with use of 1h BT and 40min wifi

Posted by hihihans
2 to 3 day's of normal use is good. I've got Opera mini running all day in weekends, so 1 day is not that strange.

Posted by mallaccra
guys, what's the correct way of taking the aino from the cradle, is it by tilting backward or forward before pulling up the phone...sorry for asking a noob question here i'm new with aino

Posted by hihihans
I pull :?: I don't know. I'll give it a testdrive.

Posted by hihihans
And the answer is. . . Forward !

Posted by angryman
i tilt the phone back like ive done with all se phones with the fast port connector.

We need to open a new topic in Softwares section of Esato for the ''Aino Firmwares Overview''
Any volunteer?
Yes SE can do all the menu ''touchable'' if they want with a single additional code line in their FW, but they wont because of Marketing strategy

Posted by hihihans
would sell more Aino's if it had full touch. At least the main menu.
I will do some research to previous FW and start it. Any suggestions?

Posted by mallaccra
i prefer of both world.....touch and button

Posted by hihihans
Hmm, screen was not responding again. So it's not the FirmWare. I'm not ready to open it up and check connections.
What do you expect of a FW thread? A simple list, with bugs and extra's ? There will be loads of wishes and complaints posted.
I'm willing to host it but everything is already in this thread. Maybe it's a waste of space?

Just read all 89 pages. Took a long time!

2 questions not yet seen.

1. When playing movies (the free ones downloaded as part of the promotion) they loose sound after a while. Was watching "Lakeview Terrace" and the sound gradually disappeared after 20 odd minutes until there was complete silence. The awesome video quaility remained, but when I decided to stop the movie the touchscreen wouldn't respond and I had to remove the battery. Same problem occured with "Angels & Demons". Real pity because the movie looks great on the phone. Any ideas?

2. Wifi is not finding my home network. My previous C905 found it without problem. Any suggestions?

(Note: This message is a much shorter version of my original message which was lost when I went to post it! Let's just say I swore a hell of a lot and even banged the keyboard against my head in frustration! I'll include the rest of the message when I'm not so tired and frustrated! Arrrggghhhhhhh!!!!!!)

Is your wifi SSID being broadcast? Have you tried to manually enter your router id and password?
With videos, I dont think it can handle files over 300mbs very well. I transferred Jurassic Park onto it and the last 20 minutes of the movie the sound goes out of sync and the screen becomes unresponsive. You can close the video by sliding the phone open and closing the file in the normal media menu.
I also have ZOOLANDER video and it works 100% fine. That movie only takes up 288mbs, Jurassic Park takes up 400mbs.
I've never played videos on any of my phones so I dont know if its an issue with the aino or a general problem with the SE OS. Hopefully its a minor issue and that SE know about it and hopefully fix with a firmware update.

i'm not sure about watching movies online via the aino....
i had these mp4 movies on my aino encoded with mpeg4 and aac with a screen resolution of 432x240. they are G.I. Joe 747 MB, Bourne Ultimatum 350MB, Transformers 633MB and The Abyss 614MB. all the movies play very well without any lag or stuck in between the playing.

i did encounter the touch screen unresponsive situation when trying to delete one of the movie file but that was solved in the normal media menu (as mentioned by angryman)

@hihihans
Every single SE model has it's own FW topic in the Software section, it's just to be more specific about the different FW out there and what are the ones that will come up.
Bugs found, corrected bugs and enhancements are welcome in those topics, I am sure you have already read on of those like C905 or W995 FW topics

Yay, I've just discovered a nice feature in Aino.
This was also possible in K700, but they removed the option in later models, until now it seems.

You can send a jar via mms.

That's great. That means you can send games and apps to friends via mms. Yea, I know, not usable for a whole lot of people, but for me it's great!

Posted by hihihans
@ mrLou. That's great, Can you explain how? I can't find it, Advanced brings me to Theme's.

Well you need to have the jar in the Other folder or something. You can't send installed games (luckily, because that would make it too easy for pirates to copy games).
But if you download jar files from e.g. Getjar, copy them to your Other folder, then you can send them in MMS.
Mark the jar file in the file-explorer, and select to send as message.

In other SE models the "Send as message" option can't be selected, which I think is silly. I've missed this feature since my K700. Glad to see it's finally back.

Attempting to connect manually results in "Out of Range. Try Again" warning on phone. C905 was connecting fine to the same network. Strange!

Some thoughts about the Aino.

I bought it a week ago to replace my C905. i love the C905 but after it's 3rd earpiece failure I'd had enough! The first 2 were fixed under warranty, but this time around the warranty had ended and I thought "That's it, I'm over this!" I was waiting for the X10 to release, but it's still a few months away, so I needed to bridge the gap. After some research the Aino looked closest to what I wanted.

My impressions after a week:

I love the touch media interface. Works quite well and impresses those who've seen it. The smooth front of the phone and the large screen is a welcome change. I also like how compact and light the phone feels after using the C905.

The bluetooth range simply blows the C905 away. The bundled MH100 stereo bluetooth headset works very well and has great voice pickup in noisy environments. The Aino also works very well with my Altec Lansing Backbeat stereo bluetooth headset.

Battery life is awesome! I used to charge the C905 every night and even had a spare battery and car charger because after 7 hours of playing MP3's it would have used half the battery. The Aino has only used a quarter of the battery in the same time!

The loudspeaker works very well for listening to audio without using headphones, and the media player is a great improvement over the C905.

My only reservation is the camera. It simply doesn't seem as good as the C905. I'm running the newest firmware, but the photos lack sharpness. Almost like they were taken in a fog! The shutter button is hard to depress fully and I find it much easier to use the touch screen for capture. It's quite a neat feature being able to focus on a point on the screen and have the photo then automatically taken. VGA video size is welcome after the QVGA of the C905, but again there lacks the sharpness I'd come to love! And the sensor suffers from a strange effect of being over sensitive to vibration. Strong wind will make a video look decidly bad. The same thing occurs with the slightest of movement when taking a photo.

So, the Aino seems to be an upgrade in most areas over the C905, with the exception of the camera's performance. Perhaps future firmware updates will help. It's great that they included a torch function, but I'm disappointed they removed the Walkmate application! Bugger!

Yep, cam is the bad part of Aino. In SE's naming history Aino would be 1
Check the Aino FW overview for updates. We all hope they come. To make it an even better phone.

Posted by vegetaleb
The camera can be way better thanks to modded Cam drivers and A2uploader, but till now The Laser (A2uploader creator) is not seriously working on a version for Aino because apparently Aino users are not very numerous

Posted by hihihans
I don't even know where to look to change A2uploader so it supports Aino.

I've bought Aino two days ago, but I can't connect via Wi-Fi. When I turn it on it starts to search for network, and it finds nothing just displays search message. I used another phone (Samsung Jet) at the same time to see if there are any networks in vicinity and it finds several.

So... Any advice on this?
Repair service, replacement or that is common problem with Aino.

Thanks.

My new Aino was doing the same thing, displaying "No Network Found. Search Again."

I phoned Sony Ericsson and they said it sounds like a hardware issue and to take it back to the shop and get it replaced. Went back to the shop yesterday and they've ordered in a replacement (which arrived this morning) and I'll pick up tomorrow. Remember, there's a 30 day ELF for SE phones, so use it!

this is a good advice....get a replacement

Posted by cgmiki
It came with latest FW on it. And it's unbranded.

I get ''network not found'' on first trial but on the second one it catches it pretty fast, ''retry'' is your friend here

Doesn't matter. Take it back for one that works. You've got 30 days...

I keep retrying time till the cows come home. Makes no difference. Simply doesn't work...as both SE support and the shop I bought it from agree!

Posted by Caracoleo
looks like the game is up for the Aino in the UK at least. Carphone Warehouse has stopped selling the Aino.
It was short, but so so sweet!

Posted by vegetaleb
Hahaha another anti-SE spamer
SE Aino is alive and rockin in CW Aino CW
Oh my God how much does nokia or apple pay you for saying such spam?

Good news for people with WiFi problems. A master reset immediately fixed my WiFi. It's worht trying on your phone. Remember to back up your contacts, themes, ringtones, etc before doing it.

It's amusing how I discovered this solution. I was in the phone shop with my Aino, about to change over to my replacement Aino and I did a master reset to wipe out all my personal details on my phone and just out of curiousity decided to see if the WiFi was now working and as you now know...it was!! Amazing.

By the way, the WiFi on the Aino has much better range than the C905. So does the Bluetooth. Everything works better than the C905 (battery life, menus, screen, speaker volume) except the camera! Let's hope a firmware update fixes it!

Posted by cgmiki
Unfortunately, it didn't work on my phone. I'm off to store to see what will they tell me.

Posted by hihihans
Stick to your demand for a replacement.
Don't let them tell you anything.
