Very happy for you but about Opera....
try the opera mini 4,2 i think it works even better.
good luck with your new phone

Hej Ron. Congretulations. Nice review. Changes for media, like EQ settings, creating playlists, is done in media-player with open phone. Shuffle and loop play are available through closed-touch-media.

Has anyboy else had problems with their touchscreen? Mine freezes every so often and i have to restart it. Maybe once or twice a day. Pretty dissapointing

I'm having problems with my Aino's Wifi... It gets to connect to my home network but disconnects after a few seconds, then auto-connects again then disconnects, etc. I noticed too that when it disconnects, it messes up the connections of the other wifi stuff around it and disconnects them from the network, like the computer's and the W995 sitting beside it. Any thoughts?

This could be down to your router or home network setup. if they're using different standards eg 801.11b/g/n then the whole network will downgrade to the lowest connection, like using different RAM modules in a PC. If your home network is on 'n' for example and your Aino connects up at 'g' then all your network will have to downgrade speed and performance. Your router may handle that change by disconnecting them and trying to reconnect them. There may be settings in your router/access point that can help you also.

Otherwise, you may have a faulty Aino. Mine has connected to all the networks that I've tried it on excluding my work wifi, but I know that has problems accepting unknown connections for security reasons.

Hope this helps.

I've not faced that problem in my Aino, but you can try to reflash again with SEUS... It may help

Drove one and a half hours to a reliable phone shop to get a cheap, unlocked, unbranded Aino, only to be told that their stock was Optus Branded >:( (I'm with Three)

Was unhappy with that result, so drove all the way back home. Wasted 3 hours pretty much. (And a lot of Modern Warfare 2 play time) Nowhere in Australia has an unbranded Aino as they appear to be exclusive to Optus at this point in time.

However, the person at the store is going to save one for me and have it unbranded, it's going to cost me more but it's still cheaper then anywhere else in Aus. He tells me the warranty will be maintained.

Got a hands-on though (and a first-hand look at horrific Optus branding ), device feels great in hand, screen is gorgeous and display was ultra-sensitive (I'm used to 5800's resistive screen), I loved the UI to be honest, so stylish

I should be collecting it this weekend. I'm praying that Remote Play and Internet Browsing will work via 3G with this phone because I will be losing out on some very important features if they don't work.

Hi,

I've not had a chance to try the Media Go software yet, but I was wondering if someone can advise me on something.

Like I said, I've not really moved any videos yet, but when I connected by phone on Media Go it only brings it up as a media storage device. I can't see any reference to it being an Aino. Does the software still detect this and convert the video size automatically, etc, or do I have to set it as an Aino from within the program?

Thanks,

Mine has frozen about 6 times since I got it. Not as often as you're experiencing, but still annoying of course.

I've used my Aino in 3 weeks now, not a single frozen-case yet... I'm the lucky one til now

12 Days without a Problem. I'm so happy, sorry guys.

Nice phone, well done Sony Ericsson.
Visibility out in the sun is brilliant, especially compared to the Samsuck F480 it replaced.
One wish for SE though, please update the firmware to allow user apps to be installed on the touch menu. I would love to have Opera Mini Available straight from that menu and maybe other apps like calculator etc..
Good to be back with SE after the disappointing C905.

mate... debrand it your self lol... probably cheaper over all for you... and if this guy is selling you an optus version that he has debranded, warranty WILL be voided.

i had an optus version. its not THAT bad, change the theme and start up screens etc... the phone is unlocked though.

just go to a telechoice. $589. and debrand your self. a lot easier (and prob cheaper)

Posted by Platia1
Probably true, but I did see the branding, No Web Browser but "Optus Zoo", ugly start up animation, I really do dislike branding

I was thinking about doing it myself but he will have it done cheaper then buying outright at Telechoice, let alone debranding it then.

As long as Remote Play and Internet Browsing are working then I'm happy

Hey, thanks Ricky D for the reply about my wifi problem...

Coming from the W995, I though that the Aino takes forever in saving photos taken with the camera. Checked the MicroSD card my phone came with, it was a Class 2 8gb card... tried putting on a Class 6 8gb card today and everything's nice and speedy now... it cut saving time by more than half!

Is shake control available for this phone?

Posted by Mano82
Shake to change songs? I dont think so shake themes work likea charm

Posted by mediar
You can use shake control in the old Media Manager. I'm not sure about the new one.

Posted by hihihans
Shake control is available in both players. Press the top-button and shake. Bzz Bzz and you get another track.

Posted by piflechien
The new firmware is R1DA10 and is going to be released over the next few days.
However it should already be available for ADRIATIC region CDA 1228-6864

Is there a list of improvements and extra features for the new firmwave?

New FW should have some speed-improvements. Anyone tried to hook it to A2uploader yet.

Posted by piflechien
A2uploader is not compatible with aino and yari (new platform DB3350)

Posted by hihihans
Ok. Don't want to change anything (yet)

I heard somewhere that the Tracker app in the Aino is newer than of W995 and can now ''talk'' to give you results without even looking to your screen, is that true?

Posted by Caracoleo
I've just been to various phone shops in West London. None of them have even heard of the Aino. Neither Otange, nor Phone4U. They actually thought I was talking about the Satio. What's going on? Where is this Aino? Where can I get hold of one in the UK?

Cheers.

O2 and Carphone, there not in demand at all so they are hard to find.

yes, wisepilot talks to you and is fast with recalculating too. It even makes a sound when you approach a speedcheck, displays your current speed too. Etc.

Does this mean that the Aino is a sales disaster? They don't seem t be pushing this model at all.
And it is better specced than a lot of its rivals. eg LG Chocolate.
I don't understand this at all.

The aino is an outsider on todays market, the specs may be average for a high end, but it costs too much and the limeted touch screen isn't exactly convinent. Well i say the specs are average but overall it is below average for a £400 phone, you can get a smart phone with full touch. The phone is basically any other a200 phone but with an added touch screen media menu which is basically costing you an extra £300, you also get remote play but it hardly merits the extra costs neither does the bundelled accesories. So yes more than likley (unless a update comes through with full touch, which is extremely unlikley) the aino is a sales disaster.

Also the LG choclate is better than the aino.

This is the worst thought out phone by any cell phone maker. If they went with a slider with touch screen only for Media, they should at least have designed the phone with some touchpad with call and call end buttons that can be used when slider is closed. The only thing good about the phone is that it will sell so less that you can be assured to have unique phone.

I thought sales were up in the recent contract market for Sony Ericsson.

Hey guys, I got my Black Aino recently

I have Remote Play working via WiFi at home, can't get it working via 3G though, it connects and my PS3 indicates that Remote Play is in progress but I have a black screen on my Aino

Network is Three

Any sugestions?

Posted by se_dude
Wait for the firmware update.Guess it will do the needful.

Yeah, I just realised that the PS3 is taking commands from the Aino it's just not displaying :-/

I'm really hoping it's not a problem with Three, and something that can be fixed on the phone.

Otherwise I might have to change to Vodafone.

Posted by piflechien
Unfortunately I think the firwmare update won't do anything in your case. The firmware update will add the option to connect via 3G for those who don't have it. (it's disabled in certain region). I think your problem is three who is blocking some ports needed by the remote play protocol

You can use touch to asnwer a call when you recieve a call & end the call with touch & you dont need to open slide

I don't think it is a badly designed phone at all. It is a question of personal tastes.
I think the design, form factor and specs are excellent.
It beats the competition in my view, as I mentioned earlier, the LG Chocolate.
It is simply better specced than the LG phone.

The main problem is marketing. There isn't any, at least in the UK.
And a phone like this needs a lot of marketing.

I'm having trouble getting hold of one on Orange.
Their sales reps don;t have a clue of what I am talking about.

There ONLY available at the Carphone on Vodafone, and O2 stores, they are also available for £360 (£10 top up required) unlocked at Carphone warehouse.

Hmm, not sounding good. Three are officially releasing the phone early next month in Australia, maybe it will "magically" start working then

Does anyone think that if the price soon comes down this will be a big seller on pay as you go?

Posted by Ricky D
This phone has all the makings of a best seller but that doesn't guarantee it success. Take the W760 for example. Few networks took it on even though it was the first Walkman with GPS and stereo speakers (I think). Result, nobody knows what it is. Aino has had a better start in that it's launched alongside Satio and is featured in a lot of the same adverts (but not all) so it's in the public domain but it still needs a spark. Just someone famous to be seen holding one (not in an advert) or a couple of well placed and aimed ads.

I think Vernon Kay was one of the first people to have a K800 and he showed it off in front of a load of people at an awards ceremony and are still recovering from the retirement of that phone such was it's subsequent success.

I don't particularly mind if the phone is huge or not as I like been one of very few on the street with a particular phone, but as it stands it's looking like W760 over again.

Posted by Bonovox
I have not seen an Aino advert on tv just the Satio. Do you think the Aino is not getting the boost it needs?
