O2 delivery reports

This may sound a really boring question but i am just curious. Does O2 save a large amount of network capacity by not doing delivery reports on its network? I know delivery reports are probably minimal but does it save network capacity? If so it must be the reason they dont do it?

but O2 do do ( ! ) delivery reports?

The only way to get a delivery report when sending a text on O2 UK is to put *0# at the beginning of the text message.
I doubt it uses any network space really. I think its because their system is old and antiquated.

I was just wondering thats all why anyway they dont do it in the basic message settings. I know it can be done in *0#

Are there any similar codes for read reports please ?

Not sure sorry

Does the delivery report only come back if it gets delivered to their phone? So if they had no signal would it come through?

I'd love a code for a read report

I've emailed o2 explaining how to get a read report.

I've asked for either a code or for them to activate it at there end, i'm not holding up much hope but maybe they'll come back with something... either ill be sure to post there reply on here.

Absolutely, it works as it should... when the message is delivered on the receipients handset you get a delivery report back. It works just the same as other networks delivery reports do.

I really find this feature quite useful, being on O2 for years i've never used this even though i've known about doing it manually. However, i'm now using an iPhone SMS app that pre-saves the *0# for every message... so useful to know that your text has been received at the other end

oh i forgot to say, an o2 representative called me up at like 9 on saturday last week, waking me up. To tell me they only do delivery reports and they cannot support read reports

i was grumpy all the day after that
