I have just got a new C905 and was wondering if someone could help me with the following:

When the phone slider is shut and you press the call/end/d-pad buttons etc. it wobbles up and down in a see saw fashion.

Is this normal or should I send it straight back?

Thanks.

how much does it wobble?

I have seen this wobble on a lot of C905's. If your not happy with it you should send it back.

I suspect it's more normal than you might think, my C905 has this 'see-saw' wobble effect when pressing buttons or simply pressing down on the casing corners, think it's a design fault

It's not just the C905 that does this though, I had an N95 that did the same - though I think the SE wobbles a bit more than the N95 did!

the gap between each part of the phone varies from about 1mm - 3mm but certainly not uniform all the way round the phone...
Biggest gap is at the bottom left hand side, everytime you press the call/end/shortcut/c bottons, the gap closes and it rocks the top end of the phone up the same displacement.

There is no movements on my phone att all. pressing all buttons, still feels like it is done in one piece. Send it back if You think it is annoying.

rphilippe I sent my 4th one back straight away for this exact reason, it is completely unacceptable.. made using the handset very uncomfortable

the 5th one I was sent finally worked perfectly in every way

i bought a t303 for my wife, cost me £39.99 brand new,the slider is absolutely rock solid.
seems s.e can build that right but not the c905 which cost 10 times as much when 1st launched.

having read all these "wobble" posts I was more than a little
concerned that my new w705 would be as bad, but .... turns
out I shouldn't have worried as it's near perfect :-]

Shame that a flagship handset isn't as well put together as one
of the lesser models ! Wonder what the W995 is going to be like ?

Thanks for all your help guys... I sent it straight back.

As it is an Orange upgrade you have to send it back within the 7 days to cancel your upgrade, paying for the special delivery back them yourself.
Got them to credit my account with a tenner for the trouble.

They would not simply swap it over as they said there was nothing wrong with the phone, it was a Sony Ericsson build issue.

Now I have to re-upgrade and wait for another one.
Grrr!

SE 905 is a very nice phone but difficult to dislike me, it should be thinner.. waiting for the W995

i know this thread is kinda old.. but i just got my c905 a few days ago, and my phone also has a slightly bigger gap on the bottom left side as well, but it not really a big deal to me.. its not really that bad, even if the tiny gap wasn't there now, i am sure over time it will loosen up a little anyway.

its such a great phone.. so far

People, I think I have fixed mine.
It had a minor wobble, and I am a perfection maniac with those things so I had to find a solution.
After a lot of looking into how the phone is structured, I used some Super Glue...
Yes, that's right.
All you have to do is slide the phone up and look at that hole.
You will see the top slider is laying on a metallic surface, the less tight they are, the more the slider wobbles...
So I put some Super Glue between those 2 metal parts (Slider and the other one) and let it cool for like an hour.
It doesn't shake anymore, at all.

Just watch out not to glue the top slider with the bottom one, because then you can't slide it down.
And if you try to, you may break it.
I'm not sure whether this will last, but for now its completely still.

Of course, it may void your warranty, and it may give you a hard time to remove.
