Hi guys
im going to London next month for a few days and need some advice.
i'm going to the Fat Duck Restaurant in Bray, and need to organise some transport there. Its around 36 miles away from my hotel and i want the cheapest method of getting there!
Do cabbies have special rates if you book in advance? or for long journeys.
Or does anyone have a company they would reccomend?

looking into it, it probably would be cheaper that way.
couple of cab firms ive looked at are quoting £90 , train to Maidenhead is £24

Why not rent a car for the day which will work out cheaper than a Cab? plus it will give you the added flexibility to explore other parts of town.

But then you have to take into account, petrol, and the congestion charge. Think the train is the better option.

thanks for the help guys, i think the train is the best option and thats what ive gone for. £24 seems like a really good price for return tickets for 2 people.

Do not use black/red/yellow cabs, EVER. They charge you money per minute, so if you get stuck in traffic (and you will) you pay to stand still. I would call some local (to your hotel area) mini cabs company's and pre-book a ride. I've gotten cheap rides from heathrow to East London and from East London to Luton (less than 25 quid). Just be sure the minicab company is registered, you can spot the "prebook only" stickers on the back of those minicabs. I highly recommend using the tfl site to find minicab company's. Call several for a quote and go for the one offering the best deal for you.

Please also take into account the money it will cost you on busses to and from the station/your destination. If you don't have an oyster this is about 2 pound per person for a single trip, and 1 pound per person with oyster prepaid. So whilst the train seems cheaper you have to add the additional costs of the journey to the ticket price. With a minicab you go door-2-door. That said, 24 pounds for 2 people, both ways is not too bad. With a minicab it doesn't matter if you travel with 1, 2 or 4-6 people. But I dont think you can get a return for 24 pound with any.
