This week's chinese i magazine state that p800 will cost S$1188.
And from my friend, it will be release next sunday!
And you can get a feel of it by going down the kallang service centre.

I message a seller from www.hardwarezone.com.sg and he is selling S$1286.

Singaporean please keep each other inform of the latest p800 pricing.

Will they be selling the Chinese version of P800 in Singapore or the English one?

Posted by jess_strawberry
English. Ask SE singapore before, they will only release the p802 for the china market. I wanted the chinese model rather.

Posted by jess_strawberry
P800 is out in singapore. Today my friend saw it over at suntec city 2nd floor. Selling at $1388 and after plan $1188. Hopefully it will be lower after chinese new year.

Which shop...M1 plan? Do they do trade in?

Posted by richieleo
Try United Square #b1-69. Cost SGD$1268 w/o line. Local SE warranty.

Posted by brick
Today's the last day for pre-ordering from Sony. Expected delivery date is 23 Jan.

How do these other 'local' sets come by? Legitimate sets from SE Singapore themselves? How is it possible that the warranty is 'local' when SE themselves have not launched the phone?

Posted by 619
dont they consider singapore chinese? they shld have P800 and P802

Posted by jess_strawberry
@wongyew I am not sure whether the suntec shop do trade in a not. But I think they should. However I think its a singtel distributor rather.

@brick You mean pre-order from SE in singapore?! I have not heard of it. Do you know how much is it?

@619 They do not launch p802 in singapore because our laugage use is english.

Posted by wongyew
Sony Pre-Order at SGD1299 (includes GST and
free SONY pen).

Pre-order closed today 12noon. P800 can be collected after Jan23.

I didn't order as I wanted to save some money with the line subscription and trade-in as well.

Any idea when M1 will offer the P800?

Posted by brick
Good news. Well, sort of.

"...the P800 doesn't yet offer Chinese text input. According to a company spokesperson, that's still in the works, and a Chinese-enabled version may be available only in March."

Read here.

No idea when Singtel and M1 will be releasing, but a Sony salesman said 2 weeks later. I would guess this weekend.

Posted by wongyew
brick, did u pre-order?

Posted by Roberto
I got mine at United Square B1-69 local set for S$1299 I used credit card 0% interes for 6 months without line and comes with 1 year SonyEricsson warranty. If you pay cash it will be S$1268.00. This price is okay, Sony is pre-selling it for S$1299, according to the guy at Sony Gallery, after pre-selling the price will go back to its usual price of S$1393.

One shop in Yishun is selling it for S$1388 without line, S$1288 with 2 year contract.

Posted by dgeralds
Went to Sony Gallaria (Wisma) today and paid $1299 for pre-launch set. Will be getting it on 25 Jan. Saw one lady (who had a communicator in her hand!) there already collecting her P800! The salesman said that the shipment arrived earlier than expected and hence she is collecting. Also added that since others are in queue i have to wait for mine until 25th Jan!

Got the P800 from SING Airport Duty Free last Friday
S$1300

Hi Guys,

for those who already own the P800, can some1 pls help verify whether you can download Chinese language support? I know there is this feature to allow the owner to download additional languages, but are there any available Chinese language support, that at least allow the P800 to view (not input) Chinese text?

Is there a way to test it?

M1 Shop has just started offering it - S$1188 for
2-year line.

Also check www.m1shop.com.sg. You can buy online!

Posted by macdid
u all know where i can get a p800 user guide, cant find it on se website

Posted by brick
@boner :hmmm. why would you want to read nokia's picture messages when there is full colour mms with sound now? unless you are saying the cutesy text composed bear messages, which the P800 handles just fine.

Mainly because I am moving to the US, I am selling my 3 and a half week old P800 for S$900:

if you go through the m1 website, the specification that they gave was that p800 is able to read chinese. Any comments? is there a difference in software ?

Posted by brick
An obvious mistake. The Chinese software, according to Asia Cnet's report will only be release in March, if released at all.

Posted by 619
cunn... u can use the P800 at US. or sell it there, lots of american buyers for it.

brick... what do u mean by chinese sw? viewer? or it will become P802? or just language pack.

is your P800 made in france or sweden?

thanks

Yup, the phone is tri-band, and US has an extensive GSM network.

The software patch, or more rightly, firmware upgrade, will bring the P800 to a P802, just like bringing the T39m to a T39mc.

And about where it's made, I can't find that anywhere on the phone!! But the battery is made in Japan and finished in Sweden, so my guess is Sweden. It would be weird for them to finish it in Sweden and then send it to France to pack. Anyway, the factory in France was opened late for the mass production. My guess is that phones that are released in the later general public release will be from France. Most of these pre-release sets are from Sweden.

just became a proud owner of p800 and Gong xi fa cai to everyone.

was a little disappointed with the p800 software not so user friendly but its really a great smartphone.

have a few problems:

1. cannot fully install pc suite
2. cannot use usb can only use ir
3. cannot find the total data usage for gprs
4. cannot manage files the memory stick

Hmm cos most of my frens are nokia user ma, and when they send me nokia pictures messaging i used to be able to see it with t68i, cant believe SE left this little "viewer" out on P800

I keep getting this triangle restart icon when smsing using key pad, very irritating. Anyone noes if the latest firmware will resolve this prob?
Novena or kallang, which is a better and more efficient Serivce centre?
Can anyone kindly advise?

I have the same feeling about not being able to see nokia picture. How could they.

I did not get the triangle restart icon you mention while using key pad. I think you should bring it for an exchange. I change twice when I first bought a t68 and its really worth it.

As for the efficiency of the service center, I think Novena is better. They are quite fast and more pleasant. But I normally do it over at jurong point. Its a bit smaller but the service guys are alway very friendly more personal.

Posted by Boner
thanks jess, i'll drop by the novena se tmr and also asked them to remove those few dots of dust under the screen... sigh.

hi roberto, i have upgrade my set to r1d, still get the triangle icon at times, getting fasturating. but luckily the restoring of data was a breeze, everything was back in place, thx gawd!

Posted by jess_strawberry
I heard from a few of friends who are holding p800 that they also experience a triangle warning sign. And both of them bought it from those small shops so I wonder is it because of this that's why there's warning sign? Cos I have been using for about 2 weeks and have not experience anything like this.

Anyway there's a website www.nowmms.com which offer free mms; pay only gprs charges only. Get register and you can start using. But caution, the website will send advertisment to you so make sure you don't receive anything from unknown user.
