Broken screen backup help

Hi Ive cracked my screen on my w960 and before it goes for repair i need to backup but i cant select phone mode, when connected it always goes to fast file transfer and i cant change it as i cant see whats going on.

PLease help Cheers

just scroll down once and press the jog dial. it'll go to phone mode.

Yeah i have tried that, the problem i think is i cant tell if the phone is on properly, if its off when i plug it in can i still select mode? im wondering if something else is damaged.... do i have to have my working sim in the phone for it to work? Sorry for all the q's, thanks for your help, i didnt realise how dependant i am on the screen!
