I have read the Viewty guides but they dont work for Renoir

Has anyone had any success with this phone?

Thanks

you should be able to if you can find the code for the 'secret' menu

I have that 3845#*910#

And where do I enter the code to acces the menu ?

Posted by safire25
just type it like dialling a number

But still cant find anywhere how to increase volume

Have tried every setting in this menu under the Audio Cal but still doesnt change the volume

Hopefully someone can figure this out soon

I've increased the inline headphone, speaker, Bluetooth A2DP, Message and the Ringtone volume sounds on my Renoir. If you can wait until about 10pm tonight i'll list what to do as i'm at work atm and only have my T700 with me.

Sorry for replying so late. Ended up going to hospital with my daughter. Anyway. Here we go.
If you've already messed with the settings in thhe service menu. Chances are that you've messed a few things up without knowing. You would be best off reflashing the software on your phone to get all the setting reset. Backup all your contacts, calender, tasks etc to your memory card first.
If your Renoir is running V10g it would be worth updating it as well. My Renoir was also O2 branded and all the Google content (Maps, Gmail etc) was replaced with Yahoo's services (horrible).
With the help for another Esato member (-PERFECT-) I managed to fully debrand and update my Renoir to the latest V10k Open Euro firmware. I suggest you do this as a start.

First off you need to install the LG PC suite that came with your phone so the the USB drivers are installed.
Next you need to download and unzip LGMDP. Link is below.

http://rapidshare.com/files/1[....].5_build_12.14_Sep_16_2008.zip

Next you need to download the V10k Open Euro firmware and unzip it. Again the link is below.

http://www.filedropper.com/kc910-dz-v10k-jan-31-2009-opn-eu-vmcdz

Now follow the excellent guide that -PERFECT- gave me. Whole process should take 25mins.

REMOVE YOUR SIM CARS AND MEMORY CARD BEFORE FLASHING YOUR PHONE

Please note that I'm note responsible if you damage your phone. All below is at your own risk.

Follow this:

1)Download LGMDP software 1.5 http://rapidshare.com/files/1[....].5_build_12.14_Sep_16_2008.zip
2))Download the new firmware (for ex. K open europe http://www.filedropper.com/kc910-dz-v10k-jan-31-2009-opn-eu-vmcdz )
3) Start LGMDP_EURO and select “NV BACKUP” (and don’t cancel the file)
4) Restart LGMDP, “connect”, then “download” and “select image”
5) With an unzipped firmware file that you have downloaded (with format .DZ ) click “DZ“, “browse…”, select the unzipped file .DZ
6) Select on the left button “EFS ERASE”
7) Click “start”
Wait after some messages and don’t touch nothing, so it will compare “Download complete”
9) finish

All below is the guides I followed on the mygreatphone website apart from the increase A2DP volume which I found myself.

Once you've done all that. This is where you start to mod your Renoir.

Increase the sound of the speaker (mp3 player):

1. Go to the service software menu 3845#*910#

(as if you are going to dial for a call)

2. Go to (2) Test Device

3. Then (8) Sound

4. Then (7) Audio CAL Tool

5. Then (1) Sound Calibration

6. And (3) CHANGE SOUND DB

7. Change in snd_device_type "SPK_MEDIA_CLOSED"

8. Change in snd_method_type_type "MIDI"

9. Change in Item_Title "rx X _db (December)" (where X is the value of your choice)

10. The values "Get Data" should be modified for that click in the "Data Set" (the numeric keypad is displayed) to enter the desired number and then click OK. To have a negative value, click the button "minus "(less) then click OK to change it.

You can change the values starting from rx01_db through to rx20_db. Please note that 500 is the maximum. Even at this value you can risk damaging the phones speaker. I would recommend you do not go any higher than -100.

11. Click on the arrow to go back 1 time (top right) or the "Multi" (middle button)

12. Finally, click on "Write on Sound DB to EFS (top line)

Increase sound headphones (mp3 player):

1. Follow steps 1 to 6 above. Test > 3845#*910#

2. Change in snd_device_type "ST_HEADSET_MEDIA"

3. Change in snd_method_type_type "MIDI"

4. Change in Item_Title "rx X _db (December)" (where X is the value)

5. The values "Get Data" should be modified, for this, click in the "Data Set" (the numeric keypad is displayed) to enter the desired number and then click OK. To have a negative value, click the button "minus "(less) then click OK to change it.

Again. Only change the values starting from rx01_db through to rx20_db.

Once edited, follow steps 11 to 13 above to save any changes
Be aware of the damage that can be done by increasing the sound to high.

Increase Text alert and ringtone alert volume

WARNING: I recommend to not set the volumes of the ringtones or text alerts higher than -100

To increase the volume of your ringtones:

1. Go to the service software menu 3845#*910#
(as if you are going to dial for a call)

2. Go to (2) Test Device

3. Then (8) Sound

4. Then (7) Audio CAL Tool

5. Then (1) Sound Calibration

6. And (3) CHANGE SOUND DB

7. Change in snd_device_type "SPK_PHONE"

I'd just change the value of "rx7_db(dec)" since this is the highest setting and you only normally have one volume set at one time.

11. Click on the arrow to go back 1 time (top right) or the "Multi" (middle button)

12. Finally, click on "Write on Sound DB to EFS (top line)

13. You can change the time or the parameter (s) use the red button (hang up) to exit test.

If you want to test your new volume setting you will need to ring your mobile from another phone. Testing from the volume selection menu on your phone WON'T play your changes.

To increase the volume of your text alerts:

Follow the steps above changing 7 and 8 to SPK_MEDIA and MESSAGE respectively but again you will not notice a difference in volume if you test from within your phone. You will need to send yourself a message (or just wait for one to come in if you have lots of friends) to test your changes.

To increase the volume of your A2DP bluetooth

Use the guide above but at step 7 select BT A2DP and step 8 set to MIDI.
I only changed rx20_db as this is the highest setting. Agaiin 500 is the maximum but you risk damaging the speaker. I set mine to 0 and I find full volume is lous enough.

Hope this helps
