@jake20
Yeah those shots you took above seems to be overly saturated.

Is there any difference between the en.lng Alexins's provided and the original DM3.8's one?

Is it normal for my photo to be like so black when I set manual shutter speed to -2.0 (on the ev+/-) or I am doing something wrong?

Picture #1
Exposure time: 1/3200 sec
Exposure bias: -2 step (this -2 was for the manual shutter speed to work right?)
ISO speed: ISO-400 (was set as AUTO)

Picture #2
Exposure time: 1/20 sec
Exposure bias: +2 step
ISO speed: ISO-64 (was set as AUTO)

Posted by jake20
@bryan84
you have it backwards.. -2 is for a fast shutter and will let less light in (dark picture).. +2.0 will make shutter time longer, and let more light in.

@alexins

The same issue happens... i am going to upload a video and then i post it here to show... It only happens with D.M. 2.8 driver. I have already tryed cybershot Xperience and it works beautifuly... no breaks in the image while changing the focus during record...

@skylow,
you seem to be the only one this is happening to. I have no issues with manual focusing when taking still shots or videos.

Here are the video demonstrations... Cybershot Experience also crashes a litle, but less than DM 3.8... DM 3.8 has a better image quality...

So what do you suggest?

Dak Magician 3.8 Beta, or the edited vesion of 3.8?

I can't seem to be able to take high MB files with the edited version?

Posted by Skylow
@superleeds27
The two versions are really good, with a lot of manual settings.
The only thing is that they are still beta versions, not final versions.
In image quality, both are really good, and better than the others.
You have to try them both and see what photos you like more...

I really think I like Alexin's modified version of DM3.8, but sadly he seem to have broken the manual shutter option.
If he can fix this, I think it would be our best driver to date.

I like the extra color saturation he has added in this driver.
I am also getting huge file sizes now.. some of my 5mp shots are coming in at around 3MB now!

Didn't he fix it in his dm3.8 rev.196?

no, its still not fixed.. i am not really sure what he did in rev.196.. its seems exactly the same as rev.189 to me..

Oh =X Those two photos I asked earlier is taken with his .196. So as I thought it was working. *bangs head* haha.

So far no results.

Hi, I try with all of the camdrivers, but noone looks to load in to my c905. I connect the phone without the sim and holding the "C" button, enter in the ifs/settings/camera folder, and remove the camdriver0.dat, and upload the new one. Shutdown the filesystem, close the A2uploader, disconect the phone, reinsert the sim, turn on the phone.... and the camera still with the old software... no new options, no manual iso... nothing... What I'm doing wrong?

Posted by witchking
Hi everyone!

I got free from studies and decided to work on my Cybershot Xperience series once more!

I made a driver for K850 already and have finished one for C905 too

However, i wanted one change which i could not accomplish.

That was, i wanted to change the VGA image to 1 MP; since VGA is too small and the minimum size supported by C905 after VGA is 3 MP, without a 1 MP or 2 MP size between...

I take ALOT of pics everyday and 3 MP fills my memory card too fast, i'm used to using 1 MP for snaps that are not extra-ordinary etc.
---

I opened up the camdriver and changed

seq_ss_config_1 =
$sf.03 1 // JPEG flag to 1
#SET_REG(26,0F) // 640 x 480 JPEG and JPEG IMST
#SS_SETTINGS_VGA
;

to
seq_ss_config_1 =
$sf.03 1 // JPEG flag to 1
#SET_REG(26,0A) // 1280 x 960 JPEG and JPEG IMST
#SS_SETTINGS_1MP
;
---

I also tried changing the Supported Sizes list items to replace VGA with 1 MP, but the picture gets distorted and lined, and the resolution remains VGA.

Anyone has any idea?

@witchking
Welcome back!
Its really great to have another expert modder here!
Is it possible for you to add manual shutter speed adjustments for non flash shots on your C905 driver?

thanks!

Yes it is possible but it's a bit tricky as it's closely associated with its complementary Minimum Frame Rate setting... I tried it earlier but found it time consuming and difficult to test at that time (no patches, no direct camdriver installation from the phone etc), so I focused mainly on other manual settings.
I haven't added it in v 5.0 but i'll add it in the version after it if you want.

v 5.0 is on it's way soon

@Witchking
this is very good news! I am eagerly awaiting v5.0 to test out.
Once concern i had previously with your CBE 4.1 driver, was that it was a little difficult to use due to so many different options.
Have you done anything to enhance the picture quality in AUTO mode? as I would be using AUTO for 90% of my shots.

thanks again witchking, its really great to have you here working on this driver for us.
I very much appreciate your efforts!!

Me too. I'm using DM3.8 and on day shots I tend to just use Colour Correction.
Nice to have a modder back.

@ jake20
Sorry. All Cool

no problem my friend it sounds like we both have similar needs when it comes to using the camera on the C905.
I guess my first choice is to have a GREAT AUTO mode, over a bunch of manual settings that I will never use.

Next, I think the most valuable manual controls to have (for me) would be..

1. Manual ISO
2. Manual Shutter Speed (for low light shots & create a nice flowing waterfall effect, etc..currently we cannot do this)
3. Manual Saturation
4. Manual focus

and Raiderski's selective color feature is absolutely amazing!
I would pay to have a cool feature like that in our C905 driver.
Maybe Witchking can ask Raiderski how he did it

Count me as the third who likes to take my shots in AUTO mode! So I really hope to have a good driver with a top notch AUTO mode settings. Sometimes when snapping shots, I cannot expect the object to be there waiting for me to set my camera in manual modes.

In terms of the manual controls that jake20 mentioned, I would rank mine to be:

1. Manual Shutter Speed
2. Manual ISO
3. Manual focus
4. Manual Saturation (if fact I'm fine without this)

Looking forward to test your (witchking) 5.0 as I've never even tried your driver before!

my dream is fulfilled with forced flash....

it's so useful against bright backgrounds...ie sunset.....beech scene....when you want a person in it and you want catch the scene behind

Posted by Raiderski
Instead of forced flash use light metering spot method from the camera menu.

Posted by brazzuka's
none driver c905 have forced flash schema rer or iso manual? DM donīt have forced flash?
about shutter speed have we said a thousand times here, change the register constant shutter speed to real shutter speed and have manual shutter speed.Copied the schema of color correction and flash rer among others things isnīt.Then to do the same schema with the manual shutter and stop torturing guys.You are modders have to know at least ride a decent schema.

The Auto mode will hopefully satisfy you..

As for the image compression settings, I think that a buffer around MAXIMUM of 3 MBs is sufficient for pictures with 8 MP resolution.. Because above this level, there is no significant change in quality with higher image sizes.
Moreover, higher size than that renders the camera unstable, and also drains the memory very fast.

I've chosen a 3 MB Buffer for 8 MP pictures.

I hope it's okay for you.

does'nt really work...the subject will benefit but the background won't come out well

where as with flash on as an option the background can be focused on....and a person infront of background will be lit up with flash...[or using on dark skinned people]

If I got this right Forced Flash will make the background bright enough and you use the flash for the people in front of the background to lit them up, right?

Sounds logical to why you chose 3MB. Let's see how it turns out when you release the driver. Any estimated release date?

well the flash wont do anything for the background.....but everthing close enough in foreground will be lit up..and at same time the background will be a good picture

very nice effect....since let's say eiffel tower is focused on.....people in foreground will not be so good[unless sun bright]..with flash on people in foreground will be good

I think it would be cool to also have the choice between xenon flash or led light.
would that be possible?

Hello everyone, Im new in this topic but noticed that alexins versions of DM3.8 are half the size of the original.
Can somebody explain what was left out? Or was the original carrying 30kbs of useless code?

I guess I won't be coming back here anymore because I've sold my C905 for Motorola Milestone. I know I downgraded in terms of camera but because I bought a new DSLR too. So camera is no longer the top need for me on a phone.

Thanks for all the modders who work so hard!

All the best!
