It may be just a matter of understanding how to use your driver properly, thats all.

This is why i asked you how to properly use your driver to take a picture of an example situation, like a waterfall.
you still did not really answer my question on how to achieve both the water "flowing" effect, and the still shot effect with your driver.

is it just a matter of hoping that the camera selects the right shutter speed for the effect i want?

Hi VIT. I apologize if I made improper arguments against you. For me, I just missed some important instruction from your earlier post such as force ISO 100. I have made myself clear now how the driver works.
Here is 1 sample low light shot using EMS v 1.0:

I used twilight landscape only. nothing change. The camera has set the absolute correct exposure :
ISO 100, exposure time: 1 sec

I'm now started to think your driver probably the best one out here! Please, do not stop posting. We just sometimes misunderstood about something. Thanks again for your hard work. Great2 job!!

Here is another one (indoor shot) EMS v 1.0

the exposure time on this is 1/8 sec, ISO 100, focus adjustment EV +2.0

@Vit

Does twilight portrait also force ISO 100? and the lowest possible shutter speed?

sometimes I do not want to have to manual focus, and want auto focus on in my low light shot, but I want the same settings as the twilight landscape setting.
is this possible?

thanks

i just took this shot with DM 3.8

twilight landscape / manual focus (focusing manually in this mode while holding phone in hand is not easy!)

Camera selected ISO 125 with 1 sec exposure time

@jake20

I believe if you are not taking macro shot, the default focus should be fine without manual focus adjustment (camera set to infinite focus by default). If macro, then you need to adjust the focus.

Posted by jake20
@fe1ixs
thanks for that tip.. sometimes its hard to tell for me if the object is in focus or not when the camera is in an awkward position.

I think I am just now starting to learn how to use this camera to achieve the pictures I would like.. thanks to everyone here!

Here is another shot now from DM3.8, twilight landscape mode with manual focus
ISO125 - 1 sec exposure time
Focus on Foreground

Focus on Background

It seems even with the manual shutter speed in DM3.8, it isn't really a manual shutter control. as I increased the shutter speed EV setting in another test shot (not posted here), and it did not bring the exposure time beyond 1 sec.. but it raised the ISO to 200
I wonder if 1s exposure time is the max we can achieve with this camera..

@Jake20

try to set the ISO to 100 before you adjust the shutter speed. Probably the ISO setting for twilight landscape wasn't force to the lowest (ISO 100) for DM 3.8.

That is why I think EMS (VIT driver) will be easier to handle low light situation. Since EMS force the ISO to 100, it will also force the shutter speed opened as long as possible. In another word, since the camera using the lowest ISO (lowest sensitivity to light), then the camera has to compensate by holding the shutter speed longer so there be enough light to come to camera sensor.

This shot taken with EMS driver ;twilight landscape scene; no other adjustment.
Exposure reading: 1/4 sec , ISO 100

I guess you right. the max exposure time for this camera seems to be 1 sec. I have played with EMS driver in extreme low light, and still can't pass 1 sec.

@fe1ixs
Can you take some shot on all auto mode with EMS driver?
I think DM3.8 and EMS both take comparable low light shots.. but I haven't really seen any shots from EMS driver on all auto settings.

If shots taken on all auto settings are as good as DM3.8 then i think that EMS driver may be the better one.
But I think DM himself has said that he wasn't pleased with the auto mode on that CBE 4.1 driver.

Here is another low light shot with DM3.8
Room was completely dark except for this low light in the pic.

Whichever driver we use, these are pretty darn good low light pictures for a cell phone to take!!
you really cant go wrong with either driver

DM3.8 alpha/beta is already out.. (all my recent pictures are from this latest DM version)
I think I like DM 3.8 beta driver the best. Colors/saturation very accurate, and auto mode is great.. very little adjustments need to be made (for my tastes anyway)
But Vit's EMS driver is also a great choice. They are so close, its just a matter of personal preference really.

here a few more DM3.8 daylight shots.. 100% AUTO settings

I hope that the MANY pictures I have posted help people to choose which driver is right for them

This is the first revision to EMS driver. I tried to overcome the big problem which is taking pics of people with flash. With both modded and with the original driver, the results tend to be delivered with those yellow spots typical of the C905 (and present in the new Satio, too).

Before some people start to shoot at me, let me explain HOW TO BENEFIT from these changes:

- First of all, if you intend to shoot people with flash, select the 'saturation' option in the 'manual settings' menu and decrease its value to -0.3. Reducing saturation helps to diminish the presence of those yellow spots.

- After that, select the best WB according to the ambient light. I tried to set the camera up based on the ambient light. If you're shooting in the dark, select 'fluorescent'.

- You may also leave them all in Auto and shoot. Most of the shots come out very good, at least to me. Nevertheless, some few shots taken with Auto WB may come out a little bit red. If that occurs, try to change WB settings or color settings with Color Tuning options in the manual settings menu.

- Again, that seems to be a good overall setting for my taste. It may not be good for yours', though. If you like to have more warm colors for your flash shots, I guess it could be better to edit them in post processing than having those horrible yellow spots within the picture. Increasing even slightly the temperature of the colors result in many of them. It's disappointing, but that's the truth with this phone. My old N82 performed a lot better in this regard.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=X2STJO7I

Please give some feedback if you face any bug with that.

@vit just for my own interest....and because you've done a few variations.......this is a mod of original+dm3.5+CShot_Xperience_4.1_......or did i get lost aong the way

also i not sure i understand use of colour tuning.....and saturation
i end up with some strange colours myself when i play with these
thank for all the work.

@dobrizmaj

I think Vit refer specifically to the yellowish spot when using flash; not for the overall quality.
Myself haven't notice this symptom yet.

Hi, pal!

Well... It's a mixed driver from various sources and with some improvements of my own. Some from one, some from other... I would say it's mostly based upon CShot Xp 4.1, which provided the basis for manual controls.

I would say that color tuning is not always necessary. Please, read some of my last posts for more info on that. It's handy when you face complex ligthing, basically.

Otherwise it's pretty much like and enhanced original driver. It's not gotten the color set up from DM's drivers. I like them when taking outdoor pics, but sometimes I think it's got too much saturation and it seems to be too warm to my taste, especially for those flash shots, where yellow spots are more visible.

Anyway, just my opinion.

What would you recommend for shots in a club?

another indoor DM 3.8 shot - i used twilight landscape for this one
what I like about DM drivers is I can just pop open the lens and take a very quick shot without much setup to produce fantasic images.

and this shot was taken with all auto settings

I would like to give suggestions to DM or other modders ... anyone who can alter the driver

I have looked at lots of sample pics and so far I am really satisfied with DM 3.8 Beta. Great AUTO result as well as terrific manual functions. It will be great if the "Color Saturation" be replaced with manual saturation (like the one that VIT mods - EMS). Color setting can be incorporated in this manual saturation setting so when we increase the saturation, some color values also adjusted to enhance the overall color balance. The reason is some pictures turn out overly saturated when using color saturation ON. By having manual saturation, we can adjust the saturation value accordingly.

Vit driver/EMS driver also great alternative, but the lack of some manual functions making a bit less flexible. Let me make it clear. I know that VIT has altered the ISO setting on some scenes (all twilight) to make it less noisy. The problem is we can only set the camera to these scene only to have a great result. Other scene setting will be less usable. With DM 3.8, you can do almost anything you wanna do. twilight scene not only limited to ISO 100, it can be increase/adjusted if necessary, etc.

I am just finishing testing my EMS driver rev 1.2, which will replace Beach/Snow scene by a new Twilight Landscape with ISO 200.

So we will have two renamed scenes under the scenes selection menu:

Nite Land 100;
Nite Land 200.

Later on I'll place it @ this very post, along with the new language file.

depending on what driver you use and what kind of shot (macro vs landscape). easy setting for indoor landscape (infinite focus):
original driver : twilight landscape, AUTO
DM 3.8 : twilight landscape, ISO 100, color correction ON
EMS : twilight landscape, saturation adjustment (if necessary)

If you're gonna take flash shots of people inside it, I would recommend my latest EMS driver 1.1. Here we've got two examples of flash shots taken with it. Pics look just more natural now. I really like it!

Some shots taken with EMS 1.2 @ Nite Land ISO 100 (this lighting represents a typical scenario where Color Tuning is much more helpful than any other function - I simply could not get these results without its aid):

Here we've got a littel shoot out with Twilight Landscape @ ISO 100 x ISO 200. (ISO 200 may look more bright, but the pixel to pixel quality decrases dramatically - we don't buy an 8 Mp camera to use pics just like we post here, @ VGA res):

You still haven't taken a close look at your low light pics. Yellow spots are there. Just take a look @ some of my earlier posts here @ this thread regarding this matter. It's a well known problem of this phone. Satio has it as well. See one of its indoor pics in a mall posted @ gsmarena.com. Zoom it @ its full size. Chromatic aberration is the name of those horrible yellow spots. It's a huge fault.

N82 have a excellent post-processing software but extremely agressive with the details.
Say this isn't a sin guys... Just cause a phone have a situation or more with better results than ours,is reason to quarrel?

It's still just a phone!And every phone have problems!With c905 isn't different...
Chroma noise can be minimized with a lot of programs.
Forget this discussion and concentrate on the purpose of the topic.
Cheers.

Is this how the scene actually looked? or are you adding this reddish tone to give the pictures a unique look?
