zip and rar both at most can contain images, sound files etc. i'm thinking, if you can capture an image or video of a person, you can capture smell too.
its just a stupid assignment i got from the univ and i've got no idea what to do

i just thought of it. its 'color'
if there was someway, or maybe there is, to capture color. i see a fabric, like its color, put it on some sort of 'detector' connected to my PC and it will tell me exactly what color it is, and i can save that color to my PC and use it in paint and such.

The color shade would be reproduced in hex code that's another form of text. Come to think of it, images and sounds are a form of textual information too.
I guess the answer you really need is "bit". Everything on a computer can be created or described using bits.
