Hi Everyone,
Sorry for my idot question. But I'm a Linux person and my old phone was a iPhone.
Now I finally have got my first M$ device and I can't get my Mail Client talk to our company Exchange Server 2007 SP1.
After a hour I finally find a event log so I could see what Sync Issue it got, the error code I got is "0x80072F17" and when I google it, it tells me it is a Cert Problem and that Windows Mobile don't support wildcard Cert. When I talk to our Exchanage Support they told us they are using M$ standard Cert that is build in Exchange and they can't export the Cert to a file.

My question is then, does SonyEricsson X1 (WinMobile) Support Exchange 2007 yet?
If yes, how do you get it to work?
I talk to SonyEricsson's Tech Support but they couldn't tell me or didn't have any howto guide.
Please does anyone know how to get it to work?

If the answer is no, does anyone have any roadmap when X1 will support Exchange 2007?

Cheers
Christian

Hi.

I'm connected to our Exchange 2007 and there is no problem there. As this is a regular windows mobile the issue is on the server in your company. They should realy change to a public cert, there will be a lot less trouble. A pro certificate is 399$ for 3 years.. http://www.thawte.com/ .
Also there should be no trouble exporting the M$ certificate running on the exchange today, but it just aint a good way of doing business.

send me a PM if you need to have more info.

Of course they can, it's quite easy to do but if they don't have it exact even when imported to the phone it wont work.

Just a matter of them going to the Certs. then there is an export option.

The only thing I wonder, all this extra work to even get a MS product working with another MS product is really not user friendly.
Isn't Windows and Microsoft suppose to be user friendly?

I still haven't got it to work. I will setup a new test Exchange Server tomorrow and see if I can get it to work. Until then, I will use a real multimedia phone.

Sorry to say this everyone, but Mainframe, UNIX and Linux is much easier to work with then Windows Mobile and the SonyEricsson X1.
But I will give it a week to change my mind, so I see the good thing that you all see.
The only few things that X1 is better then iPhone so far is the external keyboard, MMS and that you can copy pictures and music as a memory stick and not via a app. But everything else is iPhone MUCH better on.

Hi Guys,
Still working with this freaking phone.
We have now change our certificate to a new one and I have now MANUALLY copy the file to my Phone.
But when I execute the Cert Windows Mobile tells me to insert it via the application. So I go to the Mail Client but I can't find any place to import it.

How do I continue now?

Cheers
Christian

If you have a *.cert file, just transfer this to the X1, click on it via the X1 & it will iinstall.

Hi,
Thanks, I was look around and it shows up that Windows Mobile don't support the file format that Exchange Server 2007 can export to. .P12 and .PFX.
And the Certification Server that Windows Server 2003 export the Certificate only to CRT. The only way to export the Certificate is via Internet Information Services. And now when I have export that .CER file I got following error code 0x80072F06 and not does the phone at least tells me it is a Certification Issue. And now do I at least see what the issue is. Our Exchange Cert Thumbprint starts with 2 and the one I have importat to the phone starts with 7.
So what I think I need to do is to restart again and create 2 Certificate. One for Inbound and One for Outbound communication. As soon I have done that then should be able to get the same Cert for the Phone.

But I keep you all in the loop. If you have any ideas how to continue let me know ASAP.

Ciao
Chris

I'd just get a proper cert. form a Certificate Authority.

You can get one from godaddy.com for about £90 GBP for 5 years. ^

We have just got one for our SBS 2003 Exchange Server.

I have it working fine with a free public cert authority. Take a look at www.cacert.org.

You could also turn off SSL. But then your password gets sent in plaintext and therefore is open to snooping.
