Does anyone know about a SE dual sim phone? There are only two mobile phones (Samsung - the 3rd is upcoming) available in Portugal that support Dual SIM. However, they are not 3G.

I am a SE exclusive user. I may say that, unfornutely, I use 2 personnal phones and a company phone, all SE. I'm thinking about leaving one of my personnal phones and buy a dual sim one.

However, I don't see any rumour that SE is developing one. Worse, I don't hear about any company but Samsung doing that in Europe / Portugal.

I heard that in Asia there are plenty of them. Do you think that mobile operators consider them a threat and ask mobile manufacturers not to produce dual sim mobile phones in Europe?

That's a chinese fake, there are plenty of them (fake SE's, fake Nokia's, etc.) with a dual sim card holder.
The only "real things" available in Europe atm are the three Samsungs and a Windows Mobile phone produced in the UK, forgotten it's name unfortunately.

edit: Found it :

dunno whether it's still available though, as it's from 2006.

The Samsung D880 is a Dual-SIM active model, wherein both SIMs are available for use at the same time.

Chinese made phone come up with the Dual-Active long before Samsung. Not to mentioned they already have Dual-Not-Active for years.

And your point is???
I was merely giving an example of a phone that can have both SIM cards active at the same time.
You can propound the benefits of Chinese branded phones all you want, but the simple fact of the matter is that they aren't even close to the usability and feature set offered by Symbian based devices.

My point is its does exist with all those features.

However, I personally will not buy or use those phone as almost all of them is as good as useless and unreliable with almost no support at all.

My dad bought one of these el cheapo phones and for him, the fun lasts - for about 5 minutes before he tried to use it to call a friend.

but i dont think its that cranky.... a good deal for a backup phone.. especially if its on DUAL SIM.

Yeah, its not that cranky but I have to admit that their online support is almost non-existence.

Not only the online support is nonexistent. Actually there are no kind of aftersales support whatsoever for these shelf fillers.
