I agree wholeheartedly. I really don't mind the fast port that much, but in my mind, the 3.5mm jack is indispensable. This phone looks sweet, but that is a fairly major feature it's lacking in my opinion and would probably prevent me from buying it. However, since this is essentially a working concept model, maybe that's something they'll add by the time the phone is released.
UI looks awesome though. As someone else mentioned, the first thing I thought when I saw it was the UIQ concept videos that were on the UIQ website a little while back. SE knows how to make a nice UI.

hey i like both idou and w995. both are great.
but only w995 misses symbian OS. so this time SE didn't disappointed us. at least they gave some thing
finally a walkman combines
AF CAM, Stereo spkrs, music keys. awaited 3.5mm jack.
but misses Xenon and light effets. but not a matter.
but it has to have a speedy processor. it should be a sorrow like w910i which i'm using simply restarts most of the time for no reason. and hangs when using Bluetooth handsfree. slows when music playing.
i don't know abt the recent mobiles w705. how abt when using
bluetooth headset or generally how abt the performance.
hey one interesting thing for me is. SE made device name with similar to my name

Its really funny how people always refer to s60 when they talk about idou. seems like alot of people needs to be educated on what SF really is. and i really find alot of people amusing as well in complaining for the jack of that 3.5mm jack on idou. always complaining for what was only there - their sheer intention to ignore every single spec that the phone has just because that 3.5mm jack was missing is completely ridiculous.

That's right razec. People need to go look up the Symbian Foundation, cause its not S60. And people need to remember this is likely not the final hardware, it is a running concept of sorts, so things (like 3.5mm jacks) might find their way in.

symbian-foundation os is not something completely new, but more logical, like say s60v5th ed, featurepack.1, but it won't be Called s60 anymore.

Hehe, I would love to see Walkman and Cyber-shot become Entertainment unlimited (as was pointed out by the fact that W995 has the highest number it can have- can there be more walkman handsets to come?). This way we get what we wanted for too long: great camera hardware, great music software/hardware, and this way Sony wont have to keep track of the latest Walkman or Cyber-shot phones, and suggest they don't live up to the brand.
Idou could still be an Xperia though, since it was said long ago that each Xperia would deliver a different experience to the next, and this looks like a wholly different experience to that of the X1.
It looks to want to compete with the best smartphones (e.g. N97, HTC Touch Diamond) and the (yes, someone was going to say it soon enough) i *cough* phone. I hope it is well done when the time comes and does not dissappoint its user groups, particularly I think in pricing (given economic this and that). Idou will, I think, be very expensive. If it is, then it SHOULD have a 3.5mm jack. I wouldn't be too bothered either way but I'd prefer it to be there.
Hehe I told you not to assume which Symbian variant it was!! Also wanted to see more of the UI, which doesn't look so shelled...(yet?) Can't say I'm a fan of S60 (maybe that's just N*kia's fault, though >D).

Just for the little claryfing,
Idou cannot have SF OS since the first devices with that will appear in 2010.
It's S60 and it was actually posted somwhere - or it was my last insider info after UIQ death - that SE will release a device on S60.
It starts to be a bit more clear - Symbian for entertainment, Windows for business...?

Seeing as we are getting entertainment unlimited series of phones soon and the walkman and cybershot duo will mend into one i expect phones to start going into an E series. Or an EU series to not get confused with nokia. And i actually love it. Cause if you make more and more walkman cybershot hybrids then the price will lower and more and more high end phones from SE will become available at lower prices.. Smart move no?

So... what about next? The next 'event' is ceBIT. Can we count on something big or a lazy mid-end/low-end?
And I'm still impressed from Idou. But I think, it's too late in late summer. Samsung will release its Omnia HD in spring - and my feeling says, that something competitive will also come from Nokia. So summer is IMO too late... But we'll see.

Something tells me SE isn't done at MWC. They only really showed one and a half phones and it just doesn't seem quite right. The rumours beforehand strongly suggested a new WM phone (or at least 3 phones total), so I think it may still be on its way. That's why I left the MWC announcement section of the first post of this thread open for extra additions. I may be wrong, but I think G-Izzat is right.
