Move status bar to bottom, how?
I have a G900.
I don't like it at the top, semes troublesome.

I've seen screenshots of other Symbian phones where it's got the status bar at the bottom!?

You can't do it.

As far as I know, the P990i was the only Sony Ericsson UIQ3 phone that had the status bar at the bottom.

UIQ3 has various interface configurations, which include softkey and pen interfaces. The P990i only uses the softkey interface when the flip is closed, whereas it switches to the pen interface when the flip is open.

The other Sony Ericsson UIQ3 phones that don't have a flip exclusively use the softkey interface.

Besides having the status bar at the bottom, differences between the two change the positioning of the on-screen back button and also relocate some of the deeper menu level functions.

You can find out more information by reading the UIQ3 developer SDK documentation.

I suppose in theory, if you can determine where the phone determines which mode to run in (240x320 softkey versus 240x320 pen interface), you might be able to change that such that your phone loads up in the 240x320 pen interface (which would most likely have the status bar at the bottom rather than the top).

It remains a question whether or not the other modes are fully implemented in these other UIQ3 phones, or whether Sony Ericsson had stripped out that functionality to reduce size.

In the UIQ3 emulator, there is a setting you can change to specify whether you are running a softkey or pen interface.

You could probably use a gdd (GDesk) file with a floating taskbar at the bottom that simulates the actions of the actual status bar on top.
