I had this a couple of time too, it happens when the file got corrupt during transfer. I don't know how you copy files, via usb cable/m2 card or the internet. If you do it via usb cable, be sure to always use the "safely remove hardware" option in windows to disconnect it, that way any writes that have not been written to the phone/card will be written. If you download them form a website, try again, or download it on your pc and then transfer via usb cable.

Sure you downloaded the UIQ version of the software?

@Zed

If he would have tried an S60 installer, I believe that he should get 'Incompatible application' or something like that.

To me it seems as if he has a mess with some system files, which are required for the installation of .sis files, as he is unable to install any of them.

@ ZED

yeah i am 110% sure ive got the uiq3 version

@ myth

so how can i fix this prob?o and my phone is vodaphone branded

All I can suggest is the classical method - master reset (or format via service menu).

have you been modding your phone??? i mean, messing with system files??? if so...that could explain it...if you mess with the wrong stuff, you can damage the instalation app. Then the only way to solve it is to format internal drive/master reset/reflash

In that case what you experience is highly abnormal. You seem to be going for a "full refresh"...

@ares: Is there any reliable record of "modding" causing such serious defect? If yes then one must be really careful.

yes, there is...my case back in the day, when jumping from walkman 2.0 to 3.0 instalations, i got in such a problem...i was unable to install anything at all! i always got the file is corrupted message

only way to solve it: format c drive...worked for me

nevertheless...i never got this problem again, because i started being more carefull when doing the mods...of course, i already got into another sort of problems, like reboot loops, but that is always explained by some mistake when copying/moving files

No big deal to mess system files, as c: drive is now wide open

Well... certainly... I know you true phoneheads are prepared to risk re-installing the phone any time a new exciting mod comes around, but what about those people who are less experienced and/or devoted?

Okay, I'm just preparing the grounds for the new Tweak Peaks that does the modding like it was provided by SE

Menu - Control panel - Other - Master Reset
(you will lose all personal data, apps, games, mods, etc)

is there any diff between doing this from service menu or the settings?

Posted by myth®
It's more or less the same.

One difference I noticed earlier between format and master reset (on my P1i) is that a format sets the factory defaults to the correct values, while a master reset doesn't, at least for the backlight settings.

Format: 65℅
Master reset: 90℅

There could be other differences too, but I haven't noticed any.

Posted by myth®

I seem to recall that it happened to me once, on initial start. But I haven't had any further problems ever since..

How is it now ?

Posted by Punkid
i t did that twice and after that i stopped using the exit button.i use the back key.ok now that everything is working, can u get me started on some cool modding???

The first thing I would do is make a GDFS backup, then set a generic world CDA with XS++ and update the phone with SEUS to the latest firmware, this will also debrand your phone and give you a generic firmware. As for mods/software check out swmail's mods:

- Flash plugin for Opera
- Walkman 3
- Torch

There are many postings and topics on howto install them, just make the GDFS backup before doing anything.
