Posted by Dups!
... and how soon is soon?

Posted by MG7
I am about to flash the FW into my phone. Try to upload pictures.

i want proof !!!!!!!!!!

Posted by tranced
@MG7: if you are going to upgrade your phone means you're expecting to get the new version, aren't you?

Posted by Zed@CPS
This rather looks like a hoax, sorry. There is nothing new for P1 on the Emma server.

Posted by ares
Yeah this sounds like bs

P1 FW comparison.

R6G04 & R6G05.

Strange that R6G05 shows up as R6G04 in system information. They are not exactly the same if you look in the provided picture.

What issues is it supposed to address? Why doesnt SE just make us all happy campers and give some new functionality like including UIQ3.3 in a new firmware. Nokia can, so SE can too, they just won't

Posted by norbi_nw
i know that UIQ CAN'T be upgraded (like from 3.0 to 3.1, 3.2, 3.3). Am i wrong?

Posted by whatsucka
if UIQ can b upgrade to 3.3 dat will b great but i bet the RAM cant handle it in those current UIQ 3.0 fone

Posted by ares
if they (SE) wanted, P1, W960, g700 and g900 could perfectly be upgraded...at least

When is this available, the new firmware that is? Anyone with an idea?

When is this available, the new firmware that is?
Apparently some clarification is in order regarding the firmware mentioned in this thread. The current latest widely distributed firmware for P1 is R6G04. The firmware labeled as R6G05...

- is indeed present on the Emma server and can be installed;
- is not new, as indicated by its creation and modification dates that are several months old;
- belongs to the same baseline (R6G04) like the current firmware;
- correspondingly displays R6G04 upon installation as the organizer firmware version;
- does not have any striking difference from R6G04 (Opera version is 8.65.768);
- is likely to be just one of the many localized or otherwise modified variants of the R6G04 firmware.

So, I would say this thread is a false alarm. Which is no problem, but good to know

well if uiq 3.3 will be out, i'm sure some people will post it or some stuff from it to 3.x (P1, G900, W960)

Do you guys really believes that SE will bring an update for the P1, W960i, G900, G700 that will have UIQ 3.3 in it?
I think it's a wish that'll never come true.

no, me neither...all we can expect in terms of updates now, for the P1 (and w960), has to be made by hackers...

regarding g700 and g900, i expect one more firmware (Zed can confirm that)

I have to agree.

duh.

Add CPS.

No, I can't, except if reminded regularly to check on Emma

Posted by ares
i was refering to the fact that you saw a new firmware for g700 on EMMA...and that normally means it will be out on SEUS, sooner or later....

Posted by Zed@CPS
you saw a new firmware for g700 on EMMA
That's correct, but happened quite a long time ago, and (if I remember correctly) it was released soon afterward on SEUS as well. Anyway, I will holler if I notice something interesting (although not checking regularly).

Posted by ares
AFAIK, it was not released on SEUS, or Service centers...the organizer version you refered his higher than the the current firmare available for g700/g900 on SEUS and on EMMA for Service Centers...

Posted by Zed@CPS
Just looked at the G700 that I updated at that time, its firmware is R6K835. Isn't that the one that added the Opera Flash Plug-in and available on SEUS?

Posted by ares
no, its R6J825

I don't expect anything new from a P1i FW update.
I have never seen anything SE did like this before.
This will chop the new phone's sales.
So you shouldn't expect anything new as well.

Posted by ares
what new phones???

Posted by OffLineR
Nice point
What about X1

Posted by Mclarenf1
I've updated my p1i last night and nothing new !! The same firmware. But if there is a new firmware coomin soon named R6G05 it will not make a big defferenc ... As i can remember that the changes in the name of the firmware indicate how improvemnents are included in it. So R6G04 and R6G05. Will not be very defferent. Try to google

Posted by Zed@CPS
Try to google
After google you could also read this post for first-hand experiences after installing R6G05...

@ares, I stand corrected regarding the G700 firmware.
