SAMSUNG PIXON
SAMSUNG INNOV8
LG RENOIR
CAMARA DIGITAL Canon SD870
* Unfortunately, Sony Ericsson C905 is not yet available on the market, so we were not able to include it in this comparison. However, when we get one, we will do a new test.

I think that other than the proper digital camera, the INNOV8 clearly wins here.

As if renoir was already available in the market huh?

The INNOV8 is pretty close to the SD870 digicam in all except the low light shot. Would have been interesting to see how the C905 faired in that shootout. After having seen the shootouts at M-R and SM@PE, my bet is that it would not have been as close to the digicam as the INNOV8.
The Renoir shots have too much sharpening.

@Abu Basim
I think it's a no brainer thingy. N-R and sharpening on innov8 is the best we've seen. even C905 cannot compete there. the latter's advantage would e it's powerful Flash. though set aside innov8 then C905 may have won that deathmatch (if ever it was included).
Posted by AbuBasim
The difference in the low light shot would have been greater if they would have used the Fuji F40fd (also 8 MP but with a 1/1.7 sensor) instead of the SD870 (1/2.5).

I thought that the new samsung pixon was far much better?

I think C905 will win when it is include

Depends on what is most important to you: color+saturation or fine detail. The C905 has a little better color accuracy while the INNOV8's noise reduction handles details better. But both companies can improve on these in firmware updates so if someone's trying to decide which one of these two to buy then he/she would have to look at the other features.

No surprise there. The C905's noise reduction is too strong so too much detail is lost, resulting in 8 MP photos that have less than 5MP worth of detail. Color is very good though, so if you're one of those people that never looks at your photos at full size then you will probably be happier buying the C905 than the INNOV8.
Disappointing shots from the SD870! I use to own the same digicam earlier this year and comparing with the photos I took with it, I think PhoneArena picked up a poor quality clone, what Engadget calls "KIRF".
Quite a few of the photos are blurred due to handshake.

Here is the shoot out between Innov8 and C905. C905 almost loose all comparison except the one with the flash.

Whoa, the C905 shots in these comparisons are so much worse than the ones in the photos threads here on Esato!

Not true! Open the full size photos in Esato's gallery and you will not find anything better than in PhoneArena's shootout. The photos in the threads are almost always scaled down (i.e. edited!) while the shootout shows the full size photos and side by side full size crops.

Gimme a break.these C905 pics are nowwhere close to what I have seen here. Please look into the photo thread Mr Abubasim. All the pics are high quality.Even mobile-review stated that it had one of the best cams. The pics in mobile-review are really good.Waiting for gsmarena's opinion. The innov8 pics suck too.If you cant search let me help you.

I guess it's Samsung's turn to have problems with purple fringing now...
The C905 handles color better than the INNOV8 (not as well as the C902 and this is one thing I agree with plankis on) and it seems that SE finally solved the problems with purple fringing they had with the K850 and the C902, but my own preference is on how well a camera handles noise without water coloring out too much detail. With (almost) all camphones using CMOS these days, noise reduction is a must and the photo quality of the camera comes mainly from software and to a much lesser degree from the hardware. And IMHO that's where Samsung is the leader today.

I am sure, with the database hackable now,we will see better noise reduction programs as we speak.Btw Abu, did you see the pics by marcusdecker?? Dont you find them commendable??
The pics in the phonearena test have been taken with a prototype firmware btw..

GSMArena just posted their 8 megapixel shootout with the usual suspects.
Here's one paragraph that echoes what I said in my last posts in this thread:
Samsung i8510 INNOV8 exhibits the best, most mature, image processing. Its results can easily pass for a low end point'n'shoot digicam. SE C905 is not bad either but has some issues with fine detail due to its noise suppression algorithm.
The C905 gets good marks for strong flash and very good camera UI.
