I just bought a GPS bluetooth device and looking to get a navigation suite for it. I've tesed Garmin on my M610i and was less than impressed, very ugly and not manyt option for navigating on foot. I'd like a suite that ticks most of these boxes:

- UIQ3/Symbian native.
- Good and nice looking maps that are also usable without the GPS.
- Must also be capable of pedestrian navigation.
- Fancy options; average speed, current speed, logging, etc, etc

Which one are you using and why? I always liked Tom Tom but it doesnt seem they have a native Symbian version, which is a must for me.

Looking forward to hearing your suggestions/experiences.

which device did you end up getting?

I use tom tom, which is a UIQ native program, has pedestrian settings and shows a couple of the fancy features you mentioned. Need new maps for my version though. But on the whole i think it is probably the best navigation software around at the moment.

I got an i-blue (ps-737 pic & specs) device, its a bit bulky, but has a long operating time (about 24 hours). I lost out on eBay for the GPS keychain by 50p on a best offer, the seller shouldve contacted me so I could raise my offer but he didn't, so I bid on the i-blue which I got for 12.50, a reasonable price. It has the same (51 chan, MTK) chipset as the keychain you have, so it should perform bout the same (i hope).

I will see how much Tom Tom will set me back with some new maps. Didn't know they had pedestrian navigation already

I think i better just explain the pedestrian view on tom tom before you go ahead and fork out on it.

The way it works is you have to go through advanced planning and set up your start point and destination (you can use current GPS position for your start point so as to save time) and then destination can be typed in or selected from a list of already visited destination.

Following that before you finalize the query it asks you how you wish to get there:

fastes route, shortest route, walking route plus some other options.

I choose walking route and it simulates a pedestrian mode.
