new version of opera -6.20

@619
I'm interested in the opera browser but I'm quite fine without it because I'm trying to limit my internet usage. But I feel that I'm missing out on some of the p800's strengths (mobility and connectivity). I just fear that I'll get outrageous monthly bills.
@everyone
Just wanted to make a survey:
"How much is your monthly bill for internet/GPRS charges?"
I use about P7 a month. This is when I update WorldMate. = )
What about you guys?
Posted by 619
my gprs bill was P800+ last month

saken 1,500+ e lintek na globe to o!

Upgraded my p800 to R2F and what I noticed is the increased number of times it reboots while i'm texting on the numeric keypad, yung yellow triangle (with warning) disappeared? anything I need to do further to eliminate the reboots? Thanks.
Posted by Rotavap
@cserrano
the newest firmware does away with the 10-sec trick and automatically reboots.
The more common tips to lesses the chances of the reboot: text SLOWER, free up more internal memory, close unused applications when not in use

what's the download site for the p800 camcorder? thanks.

anybody needs ibk-20 for P800? http://www.semicon.net/estore/pea_misc.asp pm me.. P1,575 only.

@cserrano
since i upgraded to R2F, i've had the phone hang on me maybe 2 or 3 times only. i upgraded on the very first day R2F was available, so my phone has been extremely stable. my suggestion to you is the ff:
1. use an app that can manage your memory and shut down or kill unused apps. you can try handy day, tracker (my preference), or some other app you prefer.
2. always shut down apps after you are done with them. this also preserves battery life. the only apps i usually have permanently on are the calendar and tasks, aside from the normal phone apps (phone book, messaging, etc.)
3. reboot the phone at least once a day. this frees up the memory once again, especially after heavy use, just like a pc.
4. to the extent possible, install ALL your apps on the memory stick duo. it helps if you have a 128MB MSD! this provides the phone with all the memory it needs for operations.
that's it! good luck!

@619- bilis naman nun. i just asked yesterday. P300 agad difference?

Hi Guys, help naman... I just encountered this with my P800... ok naman before...
when i receive a new sms, the visual and audio alerts don't work... you wouldn't know that you have a new message until you open your sms inbox... I checked my settings under alerts (messaging accounts), eh naka enable naman... however, if i turn off my phone and on again, it's back to normal... any of you have experienced this? is it because i have around 500+ sms in my inbox plus 500+ in sent items? Thanks for your inputs... (Phone ver. R2F) Thanks!

Thanks senninha!!!
Where would be the best place to buy a 128mb memory stick and screen protectors for the P800 in the Alabang area. Thanks!

To 619:
Where can I look at the IBK-20?
Posted by jomni1
yeah wanna check it out also.
any one has it already?
can it fit extra memsticks and the earphones?
kinda hope it can cause the other cases cannot.
Posted by ferrarista44
IBK-20s are available at Semicon. i just dont know if all Semicon shops have stocks.
Posted by jomni1
ok. checked out the ibk20 in semicon and it's really great. Eventually got one for myself.
Good quality leather. It's thick enough to protect the screen.
Study metal belt clip.
Felt interior.
Authentic SE logo.
Magnetic lock.
Storage slot for extra Memory Sticks and styli. (too bad the earphones cannot be carried... probalby so that the case won't be too large)
Hole for the earphone jack so you can use the headset even if the phone's in the case.
Hole for attachable accessories (lika the radio) at the bottom of the phone.
Those who installed the hand strap on the P800 will also find this hole convenient.
Plus the extra headset, styli and strap.
... all for a reasonable price of 1,800+
This is a bargain because it ranges from $30 to $50 dollars abroad (go make the convertions).

guys, please beware of nine stars taxi cab with plate
number pxa-618. last saturday, i flagged down the
said taxi in domestic airport and instructed the
driver to drop me off bf homes paranaque.
the moment i closed the car door, i noticed my p800
was missing in my pocket. i still saw the taxi making
a u-turn and to get his attention that my p800 was
inside his cab, i called my phone using my spare
mobile fone. i was really close to the cab and i saw
him glanced at the backseat. he sped off right there
and then. even our subdivision security even chased
him but, failed.
i called up the said company but, they are not
cooperative as of this moment. i even asked the help
of wpd but unfortunately, justice was not given.
my p800 is mineral gray without the keypads and had
its memory stick inside.
now my question is, how do i block my fone?
Posted by 619
tom... go to ntc, bring the box and receipt... nobody can change the imei (or if not its hard to the change the imei).
Posted by jomni1
When i got to the office this morning, I was surprised to see that my contacts disappeared. I do not know what I did to erase the phone book. All I did was charge the phone last night. It's just the phone book, all my other apps and settings are still there.
Anyway, I'll be syncing the phone book with my outlook contacts when I get home. If that doesn't work, I would restore my most 'recent' back up which isn't really up-to-date. Hope it works.
Did this happen to you guys before?

Just curious, is there a way to create a group in the P800 contact list so that when you want to send out multiple sms messages you can just indicate the group name and not the numbers you would like to send the message. This is possible in the 9210 I was hoping this is also possible with the P800 since both are on symbian platforms.
Thanks.
Posted by jomni1
i don't think so.
but it still makes me sad to talk about my contact list that just disappeared.

@tom- re: blocking of your P800, contact ying
btw- i know i posted something here
Posted by jomni1
Update:
I solved my little problem by synchronizing the phone with my outlook contacts. Good thing it was just that simple.
It's nice that SE thought of providing P800 users with sync and back-up software. You'll never know when you really need it. I guess we should always back up the phone and not take the software for granted (even if people complain that it sucks!)... It's still useful.
Have a great day everyone!
Posted by cserrano
Its possible to create a group in the contacts of the P800. Create a new contact then add the mobile numbers you want to include in the details. When you use the name of the contact when sending a text it will pop-up another window showing all mobile numbers listed, just check all of it and it would send to all the numbers. I guess this is much better than sending multiple messages by traversing your contact list....

@jomni1 kaya kung napanood mo yung "The Astronaut" dre ang sabi ng lalaki dun "That is what I've learned from NASA...always have a back-up!!!" bwahhahahhahaha...ayun natatak na din saken yun bwahahhahahah:)

Anyone know a store selling pocketop keyboards.
Poketop just released a driver for the p800.
Finally! A keyboard for the P800!
http://www.ultimatekeyboard.com/drivers.htm
Posted by fonzki
You spelled it like the way POKEMON is spelled. Is it pronounced that way too?
I feel it took them too long to release a keyboard for the P800.
Hope that will also work with the P900 so that it will not be obsolete in a few months
Posted by jomni1
that's a typo. hehehe.
The keyboard has been around for a while. It's a universal keyboard that uses IR technology so any device with IR will work with it. All you need is a driver. Before, it works with Palms and Pocket PC's. They recently released a driver for the P800 as well as Nokia series 60 phones. They would just release a new driver if a new device comes along. So if you buy the keyboard and eventually get rid of your p800, u can still use it on a P900, palm or pocket pc.

ano yun P800 group membership thingy dun sa SE booth sa GB3?
anyone who signed up there?
Posted by Rotavap
It seems that the P800 group being created dun sa GB3 booth is as "unofficial" as our SE group here. I checked SE SS and they didnt know regarding the booth. And the phones for sale are from Semicon. Maybe a marketting strategy from SEMICON itself? That database can be a very good list for potential buyers of future version of P8x or Px's...
BTW, they're giving a free CD "P800 fun pack" containing free java games.

Posted by 619
i saw the list... and there are lots of ppl signed up...
they said, it's headed by SE ph.... though we have to confirm this.. imagine, creating a P800 group w/o us in it...
Posted by Rotavap
@619 - The "models" who were contracted by SEMICON said that to you.
Posted by ferrarista44
just got word from Regie from Sony Ericsson PH.
no P800 group is being formed at GB3. the list is for database purposes daw.
@619- sensitive mo naman daw sabi ni regie.
Posted by 619
rota... ?
fer... ako pa! those models said, it's group daw. but the clarified that its just a database, theyll give u free cd upon signing up.
Posted by jomni1
is the CD any good?
