@619, Thanks. I actually do have the latest PC Suite version (at least according to the one in SE's website). I think it's a witch hunt. Yung hinahanap ko, mukhang it doesn't exist. Maybe I dreamt it.

Posted by fonzki
yeah Nephilim, the latest according to SE Site is still 1.5.1 as of today.

parang may nakita ako sa SESS sa SM City - Carpark
di ko lang alam kung magkano... ^_^

Posted by GOwin
may branch na ba ang SESS? you might be referring to the "SE shop" operated by memoexpress.

Posted by KuyaJay
hmmm. that might be it. ^_^

hi there!

just wondering... why is adobe acrobat reader symbian os registered to nokia, when infact it is a free downloadable sw?

just can't install it on p800 huh?

insights pls....

thanks

:)

Posted by KuyaJay
@phage
I've looked it up.. it turns out that the Acrobat Reader is only for Nokia 9210/9290.

Although it is for Symbian OS, it is still a different platform.

Nokia 3650/7650 runs on Series 60 (dito rin ata yung Nokia 92xx)

SE P800, on the otherhand, runs on UIQ platform.

Anyway, the p800 is already equiped with a viewer that is able to open PDF files.

Posted by phage
thanks kuya jay!

just that certain apps don't follow symbian os protocol because of the registry.... oh well, thats marketing...

i leave it up to sony ericsson... they should provide us users of symbian apps for our units....

thanks

:)

well what do you know, i earned my badge

what is the latest firmware version available here in Phil?

Posted by paulvince
you need to upgrade to R2F in order for the Camcorder beta to be installed in your P800.
Didn't work with the original firmware when i tried to install it but then i ran to the mall to have it upgraded to R2F then it worked.

Posted by CyberRay
yipeeee!!! now i got a camcorder software for my phone! gosh... its amazing! im speechless! =')

Posted by ferrarista44
@paulvince- ah really? doesnt work with anything below R2F? bakit kaya.

* * *

the camcorder takes only a few seconds... sana pwede habaan in the future.

meron bang app pang-modify ng icons sa P800? olats kasi yun ibang icons, pangit tignan. pati sana theme editor for P800 meron. olats naman yun kasama nun handy day na pamalit ng theme.

Posted by =Dj_Free=
magkano paupgrade to r2f?

Posted by paulvince
some say it works with R2D but it didn't work with my R1F so i upgraded it yesterday so i could try the camcorder. and it worked. it will wreak havoc to your battery life though....

upgrade is free if the phone is under warranty.

Posted by twincam77
@paulvince, ok naman yung battery usage. Maybe you left the camcorder running in the background.

Posted by phage
ei guys!

the camcorder worked on my p8
though i have R2D sw....
but spotted some buggs...

1. vid clip wont playback
2. the viewer has a split display
3. blank display on playback
4. skippy frames... or its just the way it is...

well to fix this... simply re-run the application....

so much for the beta release...
hope they'll fix it soon
and extend the lenght of time it records
coz i can't wait to shoot!

:)

I'm am running on R2D and I did not get any of the problems that the previous post metioned.

@paulvince
Saan pwedeng magpaupgrade ng r2d to r2f? kasi sa semicon megamall hanggang r2d lang thanks

Posted by ferrarista44
@cdcjr- sa Smartnet sa Jupiter st., Makati.

@dunkin- i had my screen replaced, kasi nagkaron ako ng dead pixel. i had mine replaced sa Semicon Podium. it was around P7,500 but i had mine replaced for free kasi under Semicon warranty. the whole process took about 2 hours only, thanks to Egai of Semicon Megamall.

Posted by twincam77

Posted by coorick
kita nyo naba ung bagong phone ng nokia na semi pda gaya gaya talaga cla (P800 and s.e rules)

Posted by danlai
hey do you guys know where I can get the mineral gray housing and how much does it cost? does it affect the warranty if I get it changed? thanks!

Posted by fw190
@danlai

Try SMARTNET.

It will cost around 2000php (lahat kasama na --> body and 3 styluses).

The process takes less than an hour. Their staff is very courteous and helpful.

But take note though: BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR PHONE AFTER THEY CHANGE THE BODY.

They forgot to connect the speakers and jog dial on my phone. Buti na lang, na-check ko before leaving.

@coorick

If your talking about the one with the flip and touch screen, i dont think it's a PDA. It's still a phone... (small memory, limited applications)... like the 6100/6610. The touch screen was made for easier writing especially Chinese.

If it's the 6600, it's supposed to be powerful smartphone (no touch screen) but I still like the P800. Don't think it's released yet.

p800 users using martin fields protector. mas manipis ba sya kaysa brando? kasi with brando kailangan detach yun keypad...kasi pag may keypad hard to press yun lower keys. have you tried MFOP with keypad?

Posted by danlai
thanks fw190! I wont lose the warranty if I get the housing changed diba?

IMHO, di naman mahirap press lower keys with mfop on. With mfop you can install it with the keypad on but it would still help to detach it when applying the mfop.

@danlai

Warranty...err...um...damn! I didn't check! I guess I was too excited to get rid of the old casing that I never bothered asking.
Too late now... :-|

Anyway, you can ask the nice folks at SMARTNET. You'll find their contact number by visiting the SMARTNET thread in this forum. You may even post additional questions. The folks at SMARTNET visit that forum regularly and answer queries.

For those who haven't got their Martin Fields screen protectors for P800 yet, they are still available but going fast. I also have overlays for T610 too and other pdas.

Thanks to those who have bought already.

@hello guys. Since I got my P800, I can't seem to connect to anything via GPRS. I know the GPRS feature is activated because I used to access GPRS using my T68. I also have tried using the "go P800" auto setup of Globe, but I still can't access anything. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just my phone? Or has Globe blocked all wap sites including their own?

i was trying to access the globe wap site this morning and it was truly maddening! the p800's globe icon would appear but no data was transmitting in either direction. and it seems that only the myglobe site could be accessed. when i try any other link, i get an error message saying that it is not allowed with the current connection, i.e., use the internet APN.

it took me about 30 min before i was eventually able to connect to the myglobe page, and when i did, transmission speed was very slow! BTW, i wasn't in some godforsaken province when i did this. i was right on ayala ave.! globe has some serious work to do on their gprs network. anyone from globe listening?

in contrast, my addict gprs service has proven to be very stable, reliable, and always much faster than globe's. don't get complacent, globe, you have a lot of catching up to do!

Posted by nephilim
@senninha, that sounds like my phone. I guess it is activated but just too darn slow to use worthwhile. I've waited close to 2 minutes to access myglobe a couple of times but I get impatient and shut it down. I haven't been able to access anything.

Posted by jomni1
Well, I don't care about GPRS that much. But I guess it's slow because it's free and eveyone's using it. Or maybe Globe is telling us to switch to the non-free APN (internet.globe.com.ph).

Unless that APN is also slow... (haven't tried).

i upgraded mine there, & i got r2f. although it took them 6 lousy hours just to get the damn upgrade. try semicon podium or semicon main @ marcos highway, they might have better service people there.

So far I don't think it's available yet.

Just curious, is anyone using a 3rd party stylus? I'm planning to buy one since I found using one more convenient that snapping the "hair clip" on and off. This is because I write on the p800 a lot. I tried the CLIE stylus... it worked fine but it's too thin in my opinion.

BTW, I don't want to buy an expensive one. And it would be nice if it would have a clip (like a ballpen) to place it in my pocket. Any suggestions?

Posted by antski
there's this 4-in-1 stylus pen (red & black ballpen & mech pencil) which is like a replica of that of the cross stylus pen. I bought it in columbia computer. around P 200.

I'm sure there are other stuff like that around too.
