I don't go 2 yahoo anymore. Why not just stay here in esato?
Posted by spoon
some users don't go to esato just to log in too...
some prefer to communicate via email too...
you don't have to log in to yahoo in order to subscribe or read/send email messages...
thanks.

I mean, which Application should I go to in order to set up my pop3 mail account in the SE P800? It seems that I couldn't find where the pop3 client is located.

@619:Thanks a lot dude!
I have already set up my email account details now. But how do I access my email account? Where do I find the email client (like Outlook Express, Eudora, etc. in the PC) for the P800?
When I do wap browsing, I go to Applications/Internet.

@xilber
Go to messages (where sms and mms are) and your email providers are listed there. When you go in the menus, there's a get&send button in the bottom.
@jayv
You won't see a lot of P800's around because the p800 is such an expnesive gadget... p800 users don't want to flaunt it around malls. You know what I mean.
On the other hand, people with N92xx has no choice but to flaunt because they can't keep them in their pockets.
And for the N7650 owners, they just flaunt it because they think it's the greatest phone around (not knowing that the P800 exists). = )

HELP! I can't seem to browse through Globe GPRS today... It was working fine last night... is this just a network congestion problem?
Posted by lazzy
I'm a 3 week old owner of a P800 bought from Semicon SM Manila. I don't know whether is it my phone problem but the viewfinder seems blurry compared to the Nokia 7650. A lot of other things weird i noticed in the phone but i guess my 1 week replacement period is over.
What say we meet up (gathering) and discuss over the problems and share thoughts? We then would speak the same lingo, i believe some of us are pretty much working during the whole day and have no time to read everything on the discussion board right? Moreover, they are now tons of P800 user groups around the internet.
Anybody interested to meet up or care to organize?
Posted by jomni1
The viewfinder is really blurry compared to the 7650 it's no bug.
But the quality of the pics taken are the same... even better sometimes.

Thanks, phewww .... as i haven't seen any1 using a P800 phone otherwise i would have pop that question to the owner
Hope it wouldn't turn out to be like the Nokia 7650
By the way, are any of you guys using the keypad flip? I notice my "Cancel" and "Back" button on the flip doesn't work. Any comments?
Posted by jomni1
@lazzy all the buttons in my flip works fine... dont think the p800 will b as common as d 7650 bec a lot of ppl r still allergic to ericsson phones. lol!
Posted by lazzy
Damn i have to get mine checked now for the damn flip.

can you use the p800 to surf html sites by just using the APN www.globe.com.ph which is currently free at the moment?
Posted by jplacson
No you cannot surf the web for free anymore... We could for almost a year actually (or was it more?) when Globe first introduced their GPRS...hehehehe... we really abused it... I even plugged my T68i into my desktop so that I could surf whenever Destiny Cable was Down...hhehehe... and we all know how often that is!!!
Surprisingly, I see a lot more SE users now than before... I see soooo many people with the T68i!!! I also see a lot of ladies in Greenbelt 3 who have the T600!!! (It is a cute phone, specially if you don't really want a colored phone)
And most of us from Esato have the P800 already.
I highly doubt the P800 will be as common as the 7650 or 3650. First of all, most people can't even make full use of the T68i's features... sanay na kasi sa Nokia eh... pang talk & text lang.

@jplacson
When I setup my P800 to be able to use Globe's GPRS I specifically asked the guys at globequest and the ladies of their 730-1000 24-hour callcenter about charges. This is what they said:
If you browse the internet via WAP thru your phone using www.globe.com.ph it is free, you only get charged for downloading sweet items from their site like icons and ringtones. However, if you use your phone as a wireless modem by accessing internet.globe.com.ph you get charged @ P 0.50 per kilobyte either way (sending or receiving).
That is as far as I know. Anybody has better info from Globe? I haven't actually receive my billing as yet so the above is not confirmed.
Posted by max07
@terrible: its free nga ata if you use the www.globe.com.ph APN. question is can you use that APN to surf html pages using ur p800? or wap pages lang ang pede nyang i-surf? i'm planning to get one kasi & i'm just interested whether i can do it.
Posted by terrible
@max07
I've actually accidentally browsed a web (html) site using my P800. The problem is the screen is so large you need to pan the view left/right and up/down. Besides, the screen is clattered with placeholders for graphics. It is not practical. Unlike Palm OS which has the webclipper application, the P800 although it is html capable is not a good browse for these pages. I am satisfied with text only WAP sites.
Try opening www.google.com and you will experience what I just described.
I think you still do not get charged with getting html pages as long as you are using your P800 internet account that points to www.globe.com.ph.
Posted by randyrivera
@terrible
tama ka, thats exactly how it works
Posted by jplacson
Terrible, yup surfing through Globe's WAP gateway is still free... but it does filter out SOME (very few) HTML pages, and I don't think you can download large files. But it's free... so I'm not complaining!!!
The web browser in the P800 isn't the official browser yet... Opera for UIQ wasn't finished in time for the P800 release so it should be made available through SE as a download soon.
And yes, surfing from your laptop will be charged P0.50/KB
Emailing from the P800 is still free as well. Only MMS is charged at P5/MMS

@ P800 users , Please be advised that Smartnet have a new software version for P800 (R1D). Please backup your phone. For out of warranty phones there is a labor charge. Thanks.
Posted by mcruz
I just called up Smartnet and according to their cs, its still R1B. No available software upgrade available at the moment. How come? So whats with R1D?

Hello! I'm going to get a new cellphone (most probably a P800) and a guy from the P800_phils YahooGroup suggested that I get from Wintelcom (he said they're currently offering it at P36,500 with warranty). Semicon's currently selling theirs for P39,000.
Well, where are Wintelcom's branches located? Can you guys give me their contact information like phone nos., e-mails, or even a URL? Also, are their services and warranty contracts as good when compared to Semicon's (especially considering that we need to update P800's firmware and that it might need service in the future)?
Thanks...

@mcruz, Sorry for the wrong info of our staff regarding SW of P800. It's really R1D. Just downloaded a few minutes ago. Again our sincerest apologies. Thanks You.

as far as i know, globe's wap gateway blocks all html pages. you need the internet gateway for that. in fact when used my t68 as a modem for my laptop, i couldn't access a single webpage with the wap gateway. could access my pop mail account tho.
does p800 switch between gateways seamlessly when u access the web? i guess the only way to find out is when this month's bill comes...
Posted by ferrarista44
@senninha- i'm using a wap gateway, prepaid SIM, and i can access html sites. no charge.
Posted by ferrarista44
@savant- i think ur pertaining to Wintelecom, lnc. it's located at leon guinto, malate. if u go straight to the shop, it sells for P38000. just been there last week.
Posted by senninha
hmmm... cool...
Posted by 619
savant.. yup.. wintelcomm sells at P36,500.00 if course thru that person at yahoo group. bench61 got it thru him.
wintelcomm dont do service.... we usually have your unit serviced at smartnet.
smartnet... here i come.
Posted by Savant
@ferrarista & 619,
Thanks for the replies! Anyways, I was just wondering why this d -- lonelyboys8@yahoo.com guy you mentioned can offer the unit at a lower price when it's selling at the actual store for P38,000? Curious lang siguro ako especially considering that buying a P800 isn't a joke (it can buy a freaking PC already!)...
Also, what happens if I need the unit repaired / software updated / returned... do I have to actually go to their branch in Malate? Or can I course it through any SE-authorized service center (like Semicon branches or Smart Centers) and they'll still honor the warranty of the P800 unit? I'm asking this because I work in Ortigas and I know that the Semicon branches here (one in Megamall and another in Podium!) are surely more easily accessed than the Wintelcomm branch located in Malate. If I can indeed course the unit's service repairs / updates to these Semicon branches, then I'll definitely consider getting my unit from this guy because its a lot cheaper. But if not... I think I'll be going more towards getting it from Semicon Podium (although at P39,000
Whatcha guys think?

@britri2, how about some prices for these parts (supply only) also a price for all the "blue" parts (not stylus or flip keypad) so i could try a recolouring experiment.thanks in advance

@pachy... HAHAHAHA... I was gonna ask the exact same thing!!!! Hehehehe... I just have to go and buy some spray paint!!!
Posted by 619
savant... the P36,500 is a special price of wintelcomm.. they dont give that price to just anybody except relatives. and that guys is not selling any P800 nor connected to wintelcomm, he is just informing you that u can buy it at that price thru somebody.... and yes.. wintelcomm is an authorized dealer... free service can be availed at smartnet (not smart center), semicon and SESS.

Can anyone who does aP800 firmware upgrade post how long the upgrade takes and the status of the phone once it's upgraded (are all the settings the same or do you need to restore)
Posted by 619
jher.... i upgraded mine at smartnet earlier, took them 1 hour. you have to backup your phone.. and restore it after u upgraded it.
bench61 will be going this afternoon.
Posted by jhermano
Oh no that means my phone will be a brick till I get back home to restore. Any feedback on thethe upgrade? Any recognizable changes in stability? Does anyone know what bugs the upgrade is supposed to address?
Posted by xilber
I never had a problem with my P800. So I just wonder whether P800 owners from other parts of the world are experiencing any hardware reset problem.

l am a bit apprehensive about a firmware upgrade because l am not experiencing any problem with my unit. Unless the upgrade will give me better features, I think I may have to wait awhile.
Posted by paomig
@terrible...i agree with you...but on the other hand, upgrades are supposed to make apps more stable, say like, the expiry date of a medication...new stock/batches are more potent :-D
Posted by ferrarista44
ako i dont have major probs with my P800.
tsaka na upgrade... pag may bago na. stable pa eh.
