k850i camera button broke.

The button on my k850i that you press on the side to actually take a picture or record a video, has stopped working.
The blue light still comes on, but pressing it nothing happens. I may as well just not be pressing the stupid thing.
And just to go with that, trying to delete the messages in my inbox, by marking them so I can keep the odd one or two in there seems to destroy my phone. It just keeps restarting itself whenever I try to do it, and wiping the background picture and god knows what else.
This is the third problem I've had with it, since having it at Christmas. I've already had to send it off to SE twice, once for a broken keyboard, and once for a blue ring of death.
Not only is this not what I've come to expect from SE phones, but it also leaves me without a phone for weeks whilst they try and fix it.

I'm not even sure if this is the right section to post this in. I just kinda wanted to get that all out, and wondered if anyone else had had this problem.

Hi, I have the K850i with the very first firmware, and have had very little problems with it. The thing that happened was on day, the media player would not display any songs and when I ever reviewed the pictures by sliding the switch, the phone would say "No Files!" go purple then restart it's self (of course my pictures were save and showed up when I plugged in the cable.) Then the blue lights would freeze and stay on as I used the rest of the phone To make matters worse I was on holiday and could not get access to a computer with good Internet. What did I do? Well I decided to reset all settings, this worked like a treat. I have had to do this twice. I could yes reinstall the firmware but I for some reason can't bare myself to do this as I worry to greatly even though it is perfectly safe. But this is a quite simple fix which you can do by a click of a button. However make sure you save up your stuff. Move all contacts on the phone to the sim card and copy up all pictures on the phone (I took the memory card out too, as I am like that although I don't think it would delete stuff on the memory card, but hey, better safe then sorry eh?

If you can't be bothered reading the long story here, until you can do a reinstatement of the firmware, use this as a quick fix, go Menu>Settings>General>Master Reset>Reset all (it is at the bottom, also maybe reset settings will work too if your lucky and lastly doing this does not mean the problem is fixed just temporary fixed and it may come back. However maybe if you are wanting to use your phone just now then you can do it as a quick fix until you return your phone)

The other problem with the Camera button, until you take it back just use the middle touch button. You could open it up and fix it, but this is pointless if you have a warranty then you might as well use it and return the phone, and opening it up will void your warranty.

I know I only gave temporary options but I think that would be best anyway if you are going to take it back later.

Maybe you are just really unlucky but I love my K850i and bought it second hand and have no problems with it!

My button has also broken. Without sending it away for service, how would one go about fixing it? Also, my memory card is stuck in its slot (if i push it down it won't come out), and the phone won't read it. How do I fix this??

Oh and to top it off, I emailed SE about this last Tuesday, and I have not heard anything back from them...
So now I can't even send it off to be repaired, because I don't know where to send it...

You can't expect very good phones from . Except some models proven to be failures. For e.g. (early P990, K850, W910) and etc...

My button broke too. Have to use the camera icon on the screen to take pics. Pain in the arse.

Ahh that's bad. Using camera icon and doesn't allow you to use the autofocus properly.... But you can send the phone to service center if it is under warranty.

I would send it off, if I knew where to send it too...
In all fairness I can't wait to get rid of this phone, its been more trouble than its worth.

You can get it repaired in the nearest service center available and sell the phone then if you are fed up with it. You have good wide choice of new phones atm... You can also wait a little to get the C905 which should be out at the end of this month.

I think I'm going to be selling it, and getting the c905, tbh, I've been quite looking forward to that coming out...
I don't trust my nearest SE repair place, last time I took a phone there, they chipped it and scratched my screen and then denied it was their fault, even though I noticed it in the place.

Same here... The repair centers (which we don't have) are little mobile shops/services that doesn't have enough knowledge and experience to repair the phone like professionals. They read around the internet if there is something for the phone currently and fix it like that... They don't know what the words experience and knowledge means... Working in such place requires a lot of information, reading tutorials and experience with hardware and software also. Professional tools and software (also flashing cables and boxes) are required. Not just using cracked modding software to repair phones under warranty... And in worst cases, it happens when you get the phone there, to take it with removed parts. I remember once, it was very low (SHAME) that they took 2 screws from a K800... Or complaining with me that the phone can't be closed the same as it was from factory once it's opened... I can close like it was while some service centers can't... That's the reason why I don't trust them at all. I use to repair my phones by myself (hardware and software) if any issue appear. Mobile phone services and shops here are only good if you need to sell them your old phone... Hope you understand what I wanted to say...
