SO907i - Bravia + Cyber-shot + Walkman phone with a folding and sliding form-factor and Jog-Dial.

Now I know the SO907i has a strange form factor however I found these unconfirmed images which relate to a patent filed in November 2007.

The flip folds down, underneath and around to the back to reveal a full touch screen.

wow lucky you have an Amada! Umm... the truth is you can't do it with DoCoMo phones. You have to record the song with your phone, and then use it like that.

Softbank phones, you can convert your wma/mp3 files to mmf, and use that as your ringtone.

Yes, I have it and limited edition But would trade to other phone.

BALLER MAN I love that phone. Best looking phone NEC ever made...

Anyways, jeez that SO907i is looking VERY unusual... will be very interested to actually see the real product.

Posted by goldenface
Yeah, come to think of it, I somehow doubt its the SO907i, its just too much of a break away and I don't think Docomo would unleash such a design, it would be much happier as a P-Series.

Some shots of the F907i:

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
What brand is 'F'? Fujitsu or something? It's probably something really obvious, but my mind has blanked.

Posted by goldenface
Thats right!

Makes you wonder if Docomo will release anything other than clamshells although I think they do have a waterproof candybar coming, the SO907iWP I think.

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Really? That was a complete guess! All I really knew they made was heat pumps lol.

Yeah, you never really see anything but clamshells from Japan. I guess it's so they can throw in the massive screen easily... You're not going to fit that on a standard candybar phone! But then they could always go the way of the P series style patent above (or the iPhone but I didn't want to be the one to mention it).

Posted by clauf
Waterproof is usually the 706i series. The F907i doesn't look special, but I like it more than their unusual flip then screen rotate design, where when rotating the screen, it does not pivot in the centre unlike the sharp ones.

Edit: THAT WAS AWKWARD. Just google the phones yourself and you'll know what i mean =P

Sorry about that... I actually haven't heard about this company until you brought it up. Looking at their product portfolio, they don't have a few phones and most of them are older phones from other carriers or phone we have internationally (i.e. Diamond).

Until they actually penetrate the Japanese market like DoCoMo, Softbank, Au by KDDI, and Willcom (in which I shouldn't really do updates about, but their phones are quite amazing [a few of them]), I won't place it as a main Japanese operator.

@Robis:
Not interested in buying it HAHA but I am interested in a few photos =D

You can see their info and products in the stores that have info about all the providers, like a UK cpw.

Last March, I saw many shops with their products and plans in Shinjuku, Gunma ken and Nagano.

They seem to becoming popular but purely because of enticing price plans...

Enjoying the thread !

There is an AU by KDDI device from Sony Ericsson coming soon, the W64s. It sports an RFID receiver.

Coming soon means within the next half year. I guess earlier than later...

Interesting but why the FCC?

If you able to check out the RFID declaration letter put in FCC.
it seem to claim it will be disable when its at Canada

the statement does stated clearly this is OEM for KDDI.

Just maybe ...maybe it is regulation by FCC tht product tht can roaming at USA need to declare? of course i am not sure....but beside unique outlook or wide screen....RFID seem to be something new....but well we have heard Japan want to bring those thing into their phone for a long time....i guess its not unique to this SE product.

Exactly.

And on another note, the SH907i or now might be named as SH-01 or SH-01A has also passed the FCC. So the previous rumor of the phone having 8.1 MP AF CCD Sensor is now a fact: see below:

Of course, you can see a MicroSD (MicroSDHD presumably since the 905i and 906i already has it) slot placed in a not so convenient location. But nevertheless, it's there. Also take a look at the LED flash (sigh... but there are no xenon flash phones in Japan). The phone will also have Dolby Pro Logic II.

I'm sure the next Sharp phone for Softbank will have similar specifications, but perhaps, pretty different looks.

KDDI has 3D handset screen

By Tony Dennis: Friday, 10 October 2008, 10:24 AM

A REPORT from the Ceatec 2008 show in Japan recently revealed that mobile network operator KDDI had a prototype 3D OLED screen primarily aimed at mobile phones.

Measuring 3.1 inches, it is capable of showing video and still images in 3D without the need for those stupid glasses.

Apparently, it achieves this feat by utilising two separate LCD displays. One display outputs an image for the right eye while the other serves the left eye.

According to a report on Physorg, the prototype has a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. µ

Rumour has it that SE will not be entering into further agreements with NTTDocomo and will no longer be making handsets for this huge Japanese Operator.

More news as it comes.

Posted by clauf
Not surprised. I would really advise Sony Ericsson to continue the Japanese market by starting to design/produce phones for Softbank. For Softbank, Sony Ericsson can use their own software platform, as long as the platform can support the Japanese programs/network such as 1-Seg. Sony Ericsson Japan and Sony Ericsson can then finally work together in producing phones for the entire world, with a touch of Japanese design and innovation.

Agreed. According to DoCoMo insiders, the actual phone feels much thinner than the SH906i, even considering with the huge camera.

I hope confidence that this will become the best camera phone for a long time, just like the 903SH (best 3.2 mp camera phone). While it doesn't have Sony Ericsson's Xenon and Photo LED Flash and the gimmicks of Samsung, it has the a true camera lens. Hopefully, other companies will take note. I also hope that this will be the catalyst to better camera phones in Japan. After the 903SH, Japan has focused a lot on 1-Seg Mobile Television, ditching image quality. Let's hope that changes. =)

Posted by goldenface
A lot of the Docomo phones are very similare, I hope SE can concentrate on making better phones for KDDI.

The Sharp lens look quite big. I bet the snaps are amazing.

Posted by Aware
Actually, that was more after 904SH, when Sharp got shouted at for using too much compression on pics(for a fast saving time), and of course, then went and messed up 910SH completely......

This looks good(from what's known so far, and this one pic) - Finally, they want their position back...go, Sharp!

Huge blob of new lovely keitais here. Just to let you know, operators will announce phones from Fujitsu, Panasonic, Sharp, NEC, Sony Ericsson, Casio, LG, Toshiba, HTC, & Hitachi. Announcement for the winter collection of phones varies on the operator, list below:

- Au by KDDI: October 27
- Softbank: October 30
- NTT DoCoMo: November 4

Let's start off with Au by KDDI. They will only be releasing 7 new phones (or 7 that we know of). They are Casio W36CA with Exlim Camera [8 megapixel phone race], W64SH from Sharp [3.5" slider "full-face" phone], W63H TV Phone from Hitachi, W65T slider from Toshiba, W62P from Panasonic [clamshell with flip button], W64S from Sony Ericsson, and W64K from Kyocera.

W64S is expected to be dual CDMA/GSM. We could expect it to be usable internationally (OOO I'm interested), though chances would be slim.

W63CA ELIXM

W63H

W64K

W64S Global Passport

W64SH AQOUS

W65T

~~~
Softbank will have a small winter collection. We only know of these phones at the moment:
830CA (Casio)
830P (Panasonic)
930SH (Sharp)
931SH (Sharp)
930SC (Samsung)
HTC Touch Diamond
HTC Touch Diamond Pro
~~~

NTT DoCoMo is releasing a family of phones: 23 to be exact. There's going to be so many we don't know to this date. So far, we know of the F907i which is actually renamed as F-01A, SH907i to be SH-01A, etc. etc. There will be a huge range of phones from standard clamshells and sliders to double-hinged clamshells, cycloids, Panasonic's W-Open horizontal hinge clamshell, PDAs and more. There will be five phones from Panasonic; four phones each from NEC, Fujitsu, Sharp and two phones each from Nokia, LG and HTC. Frankly I'd love to know how docomo can afford to finance the development of 17 phones and customisation of six more when the Japanese market is declining because people are stuck in two year contracts and the increasing cost of living is leading to less phone upgrades.

LG-01A

SH-01A

Posted by goldenface
Can't wait to see the whole range although the Casio one looks fantastic already.

Posted by razec
I wonder how the 8mp casio phone fares againsts SH-01. my experience with casio digicams were not as good as what i expect from a digicam.

Some disappointing and exciting news about keitais... Okay, we all know about the sexy 923SH... Well apparently, any Softbank phone made after April 2008 will share the chip in DoCoMo phones, making it a lot harder for one to use internationally. We all know DoCoMo phones have reception issues... now Softbank's having the same problems. Very sad.

On the contrary, Sharp is releasing a GSM variant of the 923SH to Taiwan and China (hopefully Hong Kong will also carry this). Say hello to the SH9020C. Sharp revealed their prototype at the P&T Expo Comm China 2008.

See? It looks exactly the same. Feature wise, it's the same thing too except it does not have GPS and has T9 which is a plus.

Yes I'm going to be lazy, combine the rest of the au by kddi phones in one scribble.

W64SH from Sharp

- 3.5" AQUOS Screen
- Lismo Video
- Au Sports
- 5.2AF MP Camera

W63H from Hitachi

- 3.1" Hitachi Screen
- Lismo Video
- Au Sports
- 5.0 AF MP Camera

W65T from Toshiba

- 2.8" Screen
- Lismo Video
- Au Sports
- Camera

W65K from Kyocera

- Au Sports

W62P from Panasonic

- Au Sports

W63CA from Casio
- 8.1 AF MP Elixim Camera with Flash
- 3.1" VGA Screen
- Lismo Video
- Au Smart Sports

W64S from Sony Ericsson

http://www.new.facebook.com/n[....]409889482&id=537325252&index=2

RE from Sony Ericsson

Note: RE was presented back in the Summer Collection, however, rebranded with new colours and faceplates (purple, light blue, red, black)
- 3.2 AF MP Camera
- Au Sports
- Lismo Video
- Full Change Faceplates

SO AFTER VIEWING THE ENTIRE WINTER COLLECTION FROM AU BY KDDI, WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PHONE?
My favorite would still be the RE by Sony Ericsson - Great design, fully changeable faceplates, decent features, what more can you ask?

~~~~~~
Willcom's products are also revealed. Nothing much so I'm not going to post photos. If you are interested, see articles (in Japanese). None of the Willcom phones are usable outside of Japan.
In case you haven't already known, Softbank has already announced their Winter Collection. Touch is their main theme this time. Despite the 931SH, I'm very disappointed of their phones. And since touch is the main theme, I'm pissed off that the Sharp 930SH isn't touch!
Sharp AQUOS FULLTouch 931SH
- 5.2 AF MP CMOS Camera w/ LED Flash
- 3.8" AQUOS XGA (1024 x 480) Screen
- Bluetooth
- GPS
- 4 Colours: White, Black, Pink, Bronze
The most impressive phone of the Winter Collection from Softbank. Amazing screen... reaching 1024 x 480 in a 3.8" screen is amazing.
Sharp AQUOS 930SH
- 8.0 AF MP CCD ProPix Camera w/ LED Flash
- 3.0" WVGA (854 x 480) Screen
- Bluetooth
- GPS
- 5 Colours: White, Black, Pink, Blue, Purple
Incredibly disappointed. The only thing that gravitates me to this phone is the camera. We don't have the cycloid rotation display like the 923SH and it definetly doesn't look sexy
HTC Touch Diamond X04HT & Touch Pro X05HT
Samsung OMINA 930SC
- 5.1 AF MP Camera w/ LED Flash
- 3.3" VGA (800 x 480) Screen
- 8GB + MicroSDHC Slot
- Does not use Windows Mobile
- 3 Colours: Red, Black, White
Casio 830CA
- 5.2 AF MP Camera
- 2 Colours: White, Gray
Toshiba FanFun 830T
- 2.8" QVGA Screen
- Bluetooth
Toshiba FanFun Petit 831T
Panasonic 830P
- GPS
- Bluetooth
Panasonic just lost it now... they repeat the same designs for DoCoMo, and now they come up with horrid last minute looks for Softbank... SIGH
Nokia N82 & E71
Samsung 730SC
Sigh... I guess DoCoMo's got the entire spotlight this time.
3.8 XGA screen?
Amazing..is that the first phone with a screen above VGA out there?
Posted by soulsaber
well....WVGA (800x480) has been out for a while, and thats higher than VGA (640x480)
but ya....that 1024x480 is incredible.
I just realized I forgot to upload the Sharp phones from NTT DoCoMo. Again, DoCoMo's winter collection will be officially presented on Nov 3.
SH-01A
- 8.1 AF MP CCD ProPix Camera with LED Flash
- Cycloid Style: Screen Rotation
- Twist Style: Twist Screen
- 3.3" AQUOS 854 x 480 Touchscreen Mobile ASV
- Touch Cruiser: Touchpad (like ones on laptops) with built in Finger Print Scanner
- Exterior OLED Screen
- Next Generation DoCoMo Software/Widgets
- IR Simple for connection with Sharp devices i.e. Sharp AQUOS TV, Sharp DVD Player, etc.
- Bluetooth
- Comes in Pink, Blue, White, & Black
This is pretty much my favorite phone of all the Winter Collection for DoCoMo. Great looks, great features: it's the combination of the best from EVERY sharp phone PLUS new innovations.
SH-02A
- Exterior "color" Screen
- 5.2 MP AF Camera
- 3" VGA AQUOS Mobile ASV Screen
- GPS
- IR Simple for connection with Sharp devices i.e. Sharp AQUOS TV, Sharp DVD Player, etc.
- Dolby Mobile
SH-03A
- True successor to the last SH906i
- I believe it's a 8.0 MP AF CCD ProPix Camera, same on the 930SH from Softbank & SH-01A (above)
- 0.8" OLED Exterior Screen
- Touchscreen AQUOS Mobile ASV (3-3.3" not sure XD)
Mind you, I don't mind the SH-03A too =D
SH-04A
- QWERTY
- Camera w/ AF
- 3.5" AQUOS Screen Mobile ASV
Not much is known unfortunately, other than the fact that it's a "Pro" phone
I will upload Fujitsu & LG tomorrow before the announcement. LG's phone is surprisingly not bad, though design wise, it shares similar designs with the Secret.
Posted by driftmania
oh my god, i hope these are still unlockable, would love to save up for the SH-03A. Hate that the new Softbank phones can't be unlocked like Docomo's phones.
