Yes. The Chinese Sharp ones don't have 3G as China is currently setting up their 3G network. So if internet doesn't really matter to you (and video calling), they are fine.

Sharp China phones are technically their Japanese counterparts just stripped from a few features like Japanese 1-Seg TV, etc. They are fully unlocked with triband GSM.

If you are a fan of CCD sensors, then SH1810C is only available. Taiwan has the same phone, except it's named WX-T930. I believe internet doesn't work at all with the Taiwanese version because it's i-Mode but I'm not too sure about that one. The camera samples links were posted here with comparisons to other 8 megapixel monsters (i.e. Samsung INNOV8, Sony Ericsson C905) and the shots were definitely comparable although detail wasn't as nice as the INNOV8, but it sure wins hands down on night photos. Of course, flash isn't as powerful as the C905.

Sharp China's next phone: SH9110C

SH9110C = AU's W61SH

They've added veil view and landscape orientation to the MTK platform.

taiwan sharps should support mms and gprs

Posted by xumdeo
yes, taiwan sharps support mms gprs and umts

the highend china sharps to come out will support WCDMA (launch= may17), under the China Unicom 3G "Wo" service. havent finalized the model indexing yet, but they are basically sh9020c and sh1810c PLUS 3G antenna

sharp for malaysia? they have tested the indonesian market with a t920 equivalent, it's officially released there. not selling well at all, too few people can afford

Minor news: Sharp China has 3G editions of SH9010C and SH9020C (numbers switched). I'm guessing the 2G versions should drop a little bit.

Major News:
933SH leaked:

the sensors, the apertures are redone, not simply a pixel boost
picture loading time should be faster

by request, the screen size is upped

and by request, water-proof line-up added

and by request, the n-01a swivel mechanism was shared with fujitsu since they had a better tweaked UI for flipping left and right

and by request, a huge color external display would be added to one of panasonic's viera phones.

the cmos cameras in the line up won't be too bad, as a lot of them are sourced from samsung

the softbank line-up would be migrated to China/taiwan, as long as china-unicom and fareastone say yes, so please pressurize them if you work at relevant positions and are keen enough. vodafone europe not interested, too expensive, and the cost is more expensive than nokia n97. in talks for the mid-range however, you know- stupid crappy plasticky colorful cheap 3G stuff (but don't laugh, they make money) see what happens.

Softbank Summer 2009 Lineup

the 933SH Aquos-shot, is pretty much identical to the Sh-06A, I find the Sh-06A looks better in the keypad and the external display

The 934Sh, somehow it needs a giant External Display

The 936Sh has the built in solar panels

The 935Sh looks like an updated 930SH

The 931N looks identical to the N-06A coming out..yuck

The 930N is the identical version of the N-07A style series phone..lots of duplicates this time around...-_-"

Teh 931P is an update to the 930P. I liek the P-07A back better, but the SB keyoard better. After the P906i the design has slumped.
[IMG] http://k-tai.impress.co.jp/cd[....]09/05/18/931P_black1.jpg[/IMG]

The 931SC - Omnia - I have no idea what Samsung are up to, but if they want more sales, updating the Omnia is the WRONG choice!

The 832P - Seems like the identical of the thin Docomo Panasonic... YAWN

832SH - YAWN

831N

Again with their GENT seires? Sharp what are you doing?

The 832T seems to be another copy of the Fujitsu Raku-Raku phone

BEHOLD MICROWAVE 2.0! - Well it lost the Microwave pad...the 740SC

Tahts it! I found this Softbank lauch fairly boring besides the 933SH

Docomo's Summer lineup looks awesome, especially the SH-06A, too bad no SE's.

Thinking of picking up a docomo n-06a, anyone know if you can customize themes and if so with which programs? any specific format?

"The reaction from our global operator partners to the XPERIA X10 has been extremely positive and we will be rolling out across the world including Japan from the first half of 2010.”

that means america and japan!
The X10 could be really successful!

If you are still here... Customization is only available in Japan and is on DoCoMo's website.

Saw that coming. Looks like I will be getting a Japanese phone afterall... just... not the Japanese version =P

Posted by eurisko
There will be a Announcement of S0-01B on 1/21 in Japan

Posted by goldenface
Interesting. I think it will do well although it doesn't have 1Seg TV which I thought was almost essential on Japanese phones.

I hope they bring out more colours too.

Latest info I heard about the new NEC N-02B: it's one of the first Japanese phones with WiFi to be software unlocked. Link to photo gallery: http://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/product/foma/prime/n02b/gallery.html

TOKYO, JAPAN, January 21, 2010 --- NTT DOCOMO, INC. today unveiled its docomo Smartphone Xperia™, manufactured by Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications and known as the Xperia™ X10 in markets outside Japan, which is scheduled to go on sale in Japan this April.

Built on the open Android operating system and powered by a fast 1GHz CPU, the docomo Smartphone Xperia™ with 4.0-inch touchscreen is a brand-new entertainment machine for enjoying intelligent mobile communication, web browsing, music and other media (see attachment).

The docomo Smartphone Xperia™ features Mediascape, a Sony Ericsson signature application for intuitive organization of music, photos and videos. If the new "infinite button" is pressed while playing a song, Mediascape searches for all content related to the artist across a broad range of media, both in-phone and online, such as music, videos and information.

Another signature Sony Ericsson application, Timescape™, intuitively organizes communication histories with each individual and provides quick mobile access to the user's favorite means of communication. When the "infinite button" is pressed, Timescape™ presents one convenient view of all interactions with an individual, such as voice, e-mail (configuration required), Twitter™, Facebook™ and mixi™, a popular social network service in Japan. The phonebook also synchronizes with postings on Twitter and Facebook.

The docomo Smartphone Xperia™ is compatible with FOMA™ HIGH-SPEED, DOCOMO's HSUPA/HSDPA data-communication service for extra-fast 2.0 Mbps uplinks and 7.2 Mbps downlinks (theoretical maximums). It also is equipped for Wi-Fi®, uploading videos and photos to YouTube™ and Picasa™, and downloading applications from Android Market™, allowing users to co-create an experience that is entirely unique to them. Google services such as Google search, Google Maps™ and Gmail™ are preloaded.

The docomo Smartphone Xperia™ comes with POBox™ Touch 1.0, Sony Ericsson's unique predictive text-input system for Japanese and English. The phone intelligently predicts words and then highlights the next key for quicker, easier input.

The docomo Smartphone Xperia™ intelligently recognizes up to five faces from photos stored in the phonebook and automatically tags faces in photos taken with the handset's 8.1-megapixel camera. The user can make phone calls or send emails to an individual by simply touching their tag in a photo.

Coinciding with the docomo Smartphone Xperia™ launch, "docomo market" will start up as a new mobile web portal for smartphone users. The portal will introduce recommended content and applications, including original offerings from DOCOMO, to help smartphone users in Japan discover new mobile experiences.

There's also the SOO3 Cyber-Shot

Posted by rss_ndrsn
SOO3 is intriguing. It is the first cameraphone to use Sulphur Plasma flash instead of Xenon. The Plasma flash is brighter than Xenon, and can be used on both photo-taking and filming. I hope to see it on the Satio 2.

Wow, that sounds good. Like a proper powerful video light camcorder style? Great stuff!

Honestly, I don't think Sony Ericsson will ever do that. I mean, they released tons of cool stuff on previous Japanese phones (Proper stereo speakers, high resolution AMOLED displays...etc) that never reached us. Which always drives me angry.

I don't think so, but I always hope....

Why would it not reach us? We got the 12 megapixel cameraphone from SE first than Japan. Beside, Sulphur Plasma flash will save more space than the combination Xenon and LED flashes.
