Asalam o alaikum warah matullah wabarkatuhu

After observing a lot of "mulsim population" on this forum, I decided to create this thread. If this kind of thread has already been created then please close this and post a link to that other thread.

Feel free to post/ask any questions, ask anything to clarify things and post any relevant material. InshAllah brothers over here will try their best to answer that question. Also, please make sure to include the reference and link if taken from a website when answer any question or posting something.

This thread is open to both muslims and non-muslims so come in and feel free to ask anything.

Since Ramadan is just around the corner, I will start this thread by expressing the importance of this holy month. It is the most blessed month of the year because the revelation of Holy Quran started in this month and also ended in this month, (also mentioned by our brother Abusammad (aka PeterKay or PK) in one of the other thread). I would like to quote a hadith from Prophet (PBUH) which will truly show the importance of this month.

"In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Merciful"

"Kaab Ibn Ujrah (RA) relates that Rasulullah (SAW) said Come near to the mimbar and we came near the mimbar. When He (SAW) climbed the first step of the mimbar, He (SAW) said "Aameen", When He (SAW) ascended the second step, He (SAW) said "Aameen", When He (SAW) climbed the third step, He (SAW) said "Aameen" When He (SAW) came down, We said "O Rasool of Allah (SAW), we have heard from you today something which we never heard before" He (SAW) said When I climbed the first step, the angel Jibraeel (A.S.) appeared before me and said

"Destruction to him who found the blessed month of Ramdhan and let it pass by without gaining forgiveness"

upon that I said 'Aameen'. When I climbed the second step, he said,

"Destruction to him before whom thy name is taken and then he does not make Dua for Allah's blessing on me (by saying, for example SAW)."

I replied 'Aameen'. When I climbed the third step, he said

"Destruction unto him in whose lifetime his parents or either one of them reaches old age, and (through failure to serve them) he is not allowed to enter Jannah".

I said 'Aameen'"
(Hakim, Baihaqi)

http://www.abdurrahman.org/ramadhan/3ameens.html

May Allah guide us towards taking full advantage of this month ameen sum ameen.

Please do correct me if I am mistaken at any point.

JazakAllah

Peace Be Upon His Soul

a few more sayings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyzDG8kbsmA

The Farewell Sermon of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

The Farewell Sermon (Arabic: Khutbatul Wada), also known as the Prophet's (pbuh) final sermon, was delivered on the ninth day of Dhu al-Hijjah, 10 A.H. (632 CE), at the end of his first and final pilgrimage to Makkah.

The Farewell Sermon is mentioned in almost all books of Hadith. Sahih Al-Bukhari refers to the sermon and quotes part of it. Imam Ahmed ibn Hanbal has given the longest and perhaps the most complete version of this sermon in his Musnad.

Muhammad (pbuh) led the Pilgrims from Makkah through the Valley of Mina and up to the Mountain of Arafat and then stopped them in the Valley of Uranah. They stood in front of him silently as he sat on his camel and delivered this sermon. With a crowd of over 120,000 pilgrims, his voice could not reach out to all those who were present. He therefore asked Rab'ah Ibn Umayya Ibn Khalaf, who was known to have a loud voice, to repeat the sermon after him, sentence by sentence so that everyone could hear. The sermon is as follows:

" O People,

Just as you regard this month, this day, this city as sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that He will indeed reckon your deeds. Allah has forbidden you to take usury (interest, Arabic: Riba); therefore all interest obligation shall henceforth be waived. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity.

Allah has Judged that there shall be no usury (interest) and that all interest due to Abbas Ibn Abd al Muttalib (the Prophet's uncle) shall henceforth be waived.

Beware of Satan for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.

O People,

It is true that you have certain rights in regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives, only under Allah's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them, for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with anyone of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.

O People,

Listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, say your five daily prayers (Salah), fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat.

Perform Hajj if you can afford to.

All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black, nor a black has any superiority over a white - except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim, which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not therefore, do injustice to yourselves.

Remember one day you will appear before Allah and answer for your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.

O People,

No prophet or apostle will come after me and no new faith will be born. Reason well therefore, O people, and understand words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the Quran and the Sunnah, and if you follow these you will never go astray. All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listened to me directly.

Be my witness, O Allah, that I have conveyed your message to your people".

As part of this sermon, the Prophet (pbuh) recited them a Revelation from God which he had just received:

This day the disbelievers despair of prevailing against your religion, so fear them not, but fear Me (God)! This day have I perfected for you your religion and fulfilled My favor unto you, and it hath been My good pleasure to choose Islam for you as your religion (Al-Quran 5:3).

Toward the end of his sermon, Muhammad (pbuh) asked:

"O people, have I faithfully delivered unto you my message?"

A powerful murmur of assent "O God, yes!", arose from thousands of pilgrims and the vibrant words "Allahumma na’m" rolled like thunder throughout the valley. Muhammad raised his forefinger and said:

"Be my witness O God, that I have conveyed your message to your people."

Jazak Allah to all the brothers (Muslim and non-Muslim) coming over here. We, as a muslim, have a responsibility to spread the true message of Islam and clear all the mis-conceptions that we have. Please feel free to contribute to this thread by asking questions or posting relevant information. All the brothers over here will try their best to answer the question in the most authentic way.

JazakAllah khair Abusamad for those nice clips. Indeed brother zakir naik has done an excellent job in utilizing the modern media and spreading Islam.

Here is a nasheed regarding the rights of wife in islam. Although the nasheed is in arabic, there are some very nice Quranic verses and hadeeth posted here regarding the subject. Also if you click the "more info" located on the right hand side, you will find an english translation of the nasheed.

And also , it is now official (31st August 2008) that 1st September is the first day of Ramadan. Let us all take full advantage of this blessed month and get our sins forgiven. ameen sum ameen

Wasalam o alaikum warahma tullah wabarakatuhu

@Muhammad Oli thank you very much for the good wishing of this thread. People from all the religion are invited over here

@Bonovox, thank you very much for stopping by . Islam also teaches us to respect all the religions. and that is exactly what we all should do.

I am currently searching for a website on which live taraweeh is broadcasted from Makkah and/or Madinah. Since taraweeh over there has ended right now therefore all of the links are off. But inshAllah tomorrow I will find it and post the link. This is to help our brothers who are not living in Makkah or Madinah to feel the atmosphere of those two Holy Places in this month. Alhamdolillah Allah has given me numerous opportunities to visit both Makkah and Madinah and for that I am very very very very very thankful to Allah. May Allah constantly keep on giving me and other brothers an opportunity to visit these two cities ameen sum ameen

agree with voda. but still, as muslims we are brothers..and we cant start arguing amongst ourselves over silly politics!

similarly, whatever happens in the Irani govt is POLITICS, not religion. If Islam is dragged in, as is usually done in Pakistan, its just a cover for their actions.

There are 5 basic practices known as 5 Pillars:

1. Declaration of faith (SHAHADAH) by verbally pronouncing the words: `I bear witness that there is no God but Allah and that Muhammad (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), was His prophet and messenger'.

2. The mandatory five daily prayers, called Namaz/Salah. Adult Muslims are expected to pray five times each day, before sunrise, at noon, midway between noon and sunset, at sunset and at night. These prayers are obligatory and therefore can be offered anywhere. They are also offered in congregations in all the mosques at set times. Muslims face KAABAH (a cubical building in Makkah built by Prophet Abraham). To ensure the correct direction, Qibla direction finders are available. It is important to offer the facilities for prayer as they may feel that it is too much trouble and not ask. Friday afternoon prayer is the weekly congregational prayer.

3. Fasting during Ramadhan (one month of abstaining from food and drink from just before dawn to sunset). Ramadan occurs 11 days earlier each year, and is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. Seriously ill, pregnant or breast-feeding mothers, menstruating women, people on a journey and elderly people in poor health are exempt from fasting.

4. The giving of alms (ZAKAT).

5. Pilgrimage to Mecca once in life (HAJJ).

With regards to politics, you cannot avoid it in Islam. Shariah is the answer but there is no place in the World that uses it so it is irrelevent talking about Iran only.

Muslims need to learn the benefits of Shariah over other systems i.e. legal, social and financial. Then, the Muslims in their OWN LANDS should demand this peacefully.

When the prophet Isa (aws) returns to Earth, he and the Muslims will live under the Shariah for many years. The logic of Shariah cannot be argued against and it is the duty of a Muslim to educate themselves about every aspect of Islam.

Posted by naveedaziz83
although there are some parts of the world where some aspects of sharia are still implemented (like in saudia, cutting the hands of a theif) but i totally agree with badman tht politics has dominated sharia these days. that is why there is so much unrest in the world these days.

also agree... all need to get back to the basics...

Asalam o alaikum warah matullah wabarakatuhu

Allah has said in the Holy Quran,

Sura#3, Aya Number 132

And not just in this sura, but in numerous many other Allah has mentioned this simple yet powerful statement. Therefore we muslims, both male and females, should follow this basic command in order to be successful both in the duniya and the here-after.

Following are few Dua's regarding matters which we perform every day, regardless of age, sex and location. Prophet (PBUH) used to observe these dua's every single day and night.

1) Dua's and Azkar while going to bed

a) Prophet (PBUH) said that when you lay in your bed for the intention of sleep and you read ayat-ul-kursi, Allah assigns an Angel to protect you from the devil all night. (Sahi Bukhari, Book 4, Hadeeth 613)

b) He who recites the last two aya's of Sura Bakara before going to sleep, these are enough for him. (Sahi Bukhari, Book 9, Hadeeth 69 ;Sahi Muslim, Hadeeth 807)

c) A person who recites the following 3 phrases while laying on bed,
that is better for that person than getting a servant. (Sahi Muslim , Hadeeth 2727)

May Allah guide us to follow His commands and to observe the Sunnah of Prophet (PBUH). Ameen Sum Ameen

Wasalam o alaikum warah matullah wabarakatuhu

Masha'allah

Asalam-o-alaikum
Ramadan Mubarak to you all.

Posted by naveedaziz83
walaikum as Salam warah matullah wabarakatuhu

@adnan, ramadan mubarak to u as well

Alhamdolillah , today is the first Juma in this blessed month. May Allah accept all our prayers, ameen sum ameen.

Allah has said in the Holy Quran translation of which is given below,

"O you who believe! When the call is proclaimed for prayer on the day of Jumu'ah, then hasten to the remembrance of Allah, and leave off all trade: that is better for you, if only you knew. And when the Prayer has been offered, then you may disperse through the land, and seek of Allah's bounty; but remember Allah often, that you may prosper. But when they see a bargain or amusement, they disperse headlong to it, and leave you (O Muhammad) standing! Say: What Allah has is better than any amusement or bargain, and Allah is the best of providers. (Al-Qur'aan, surah al-Jumu'ah, 62:9-11)"

http://www.abdurrahman.org/salah/fridaycongregation.html

These aya's reveal the great importance of Juma in our life. Allah has commanded us to leave our trades and search for food till after we read the Juma Salat in congregation. A couple of Hadeeths of the Prophet (PBUH) concerning Jumma.

1
Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) said, "Any person who takes a bath on Friday like the bath of Janaba and then goes for the prayer (in the first hour i.e. early), it is as if he had sacrificed a camel (in Allah's cause); and whoever goes in the second hour it is as if he had sacrificed a cow; and whoever goes in the third hour, then it is as if he had sacrificed a horned ram; and if one goes in the fourth hour, then it is as if he had sacrificed a hen; and whoever goes in the fifth hour then it is as if he had offered an egg. When the Imam comes out (i.e. starts delivering the Khutba), the angels present themselves to listen to the Khutba." (Sahi Bukhari, Volume 2, Book 13, Number 6)

2
Narrated Salman-Al-Farsi:

The Prophet (p.b.u.h) said, "Whoever takes a bath on Friday, purifies himself as much as he can, then uses his (hair) oil or perfumes himself with the scent of his house, then proceeds (for the Juma prayer) and does not separate two persons sitting together (in the mosque), then prays as much as (Allah has) written for him and then remains silent while the Imam is delivering the Khutba, his sins in-between the present and the last Friday would be forgiven." (Sahi Bukhari, Volume 2, Book 13, Number 8 )

If you think about these two hadeeths above, they have an important message for us. The first one talks about getting different rewards for arriving early for Juma and second one talks about having our sins forgiven by not separating two persons sitting together. If any one of us, obeys the commands in the first hadeeth i.e. arrive in the mosque at an early stage, they would never separate two persons sitting together , meaning they will have enough space to sit without having to make one by force.

3
This hadeeth is not only related to Juma but to all the 5 compulsory prayers during the day

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Apostle said, "If I had not found it hard for my followers or the people, I would have ordered them to clean their teeth with Siwak for every prayer." (Sahi Bukhari, Volume 2, Book 13, Number 12)

4
This hadeeth mentions a very common mistake done by many of our muslim brothers today. It is related not only to Juma but to all the compulsory prayers.

Narrated Abu Huraira:

heard Allah's Apostles (p.b.u.h) saying, "If the prayer is started do not run for it but just walk for it calmly and pray whatever you get, and complete whatever is missed. "(Sahi Bukhari, Volume 2, Book 13, Number 31)

5
Bringing up another common mistake seen in the Juma Khutba,

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) said, "When the Imam is delivering the Khutba, and you ask your companion to keep quiet and listen, then no doubt you have done an evil act." (Sahi Bukhari, Volume 2, Book 13, Number 56)

6
This next hadeeth provides an extra incentive to pray more and more on a Friday

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) talked about Friday and said, "There is an hour (opportune time) on Friday and if a Muslim gets it while praying and asks something from Allah, then Allah will definitely meet his demand." And he (the Prophet) pointed out the shortness of that time with his hands.
(Sahi Bukhari, Volume 2, Book 13, Number 57)

Note: Ulama have stated that this hour is after the Asar Salat till sunset, but we should try to take more and more advantage of this day by praying as much as we can in most parts of the day and by not just sticking to one particular time frame.

Note: All of the hadeeths above have been taken from the following website.

"He who recites Sura Kahaf (Sura Number 18) on the day of Juma, a light shall shine for him till the next Juma." (Reported by Imam Al-Hakim and Al-Baihaqee)

Apart from the above mentioned hadeeth, we should recite darood on the Prophet (PBUH) in abundance.

May Allah guide us all in following the right path and performing righteous deeds.
