I never have to write a plea for help -- but the Google gods and esato einsteins have failed me, so: HELP!
Like others in this forum before me, I'm trying to connect a laptop to the internet via my Sony Ericsson P1's Bluetooth PAN. The laptop is Win2K (don't snicker, not my choice), on an IBM Thinkpad.
On the phone, I set up a Bluetooth Pan connection, (Control panel > connections > internet accounts > more > new account > bluetooth internet pan) and added it to my "internet" group.
On the laptop, I paired my phone and laptop via bluetooth (My Bluetooth places > search devices > right click on my phone and PAIR) I found the Ad hoc Group Network Services (right click on phone icon, discover available services).
I double click on the Ad hoc Group Network Services icon on the laptop, and the yellow icon turns green. YES, I am connected.
I run Ipconfig at the command prompt and see I have an IP address via my bluetooth connection:

A click on Status shows bytes being transferred back and forth. But the laptop can't surf, can't ping, won't connect Skype or YIM. I'Ve experimented with every variable I can think of, changing the client-client setting on the bluetooth pan to server-client, updating my bluetooth drivers, same result: nada, niente, nuffin.
My datacarrier is T-mobile.
One anomoly: there's a preinstalled "Ad Hoc Bluetooth Pan" account on the phone, but it can't be added to the "internet group" I set up for internet connections. I can create a dedicated "Bluetooth Internet" conntection and add it to the group.

You would need to connect the PC via an Ethernet Landline connection or Wireless LAN and bridge that to the BT PAN. I'm assuming of course that your BT adapter is a Version 2.0 + EDR with PAN capability.

I use the K850i and C702 as data modems over BT PAN, but I didn't have to do much, the Toshiba bluetooth software in my VAIO automatically created the connection, all I do it click connect now. The only settings needed seem to be to dial *99# and login and password are both "user".

I'm trying to go the other way: get the laptop to use my phone's internet connection when l'm on the road w/o wireless or ethernet.

I'm currently using the V640i via USB myself but have used internet via V640i and V800 BT connections.
Works okay for me, with XP and BlueSoliel drivers. I don't know much about P-series phones myself.

If you connect using Serial Port profile instead of BT PAN profile it will probably work. That's how I do it with my V640i.
