Hi !

How do you configure your phone if you want to have your yahoo mails on your phone.

what do you enter in pop3, pop3 port, smtp, smtp port ????

Posted by GOwin
POP3 server: pop.mail.yahoo.com
POP3 port: 110
mailbox:
password:
SMTP server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
SMTP port: 25
Email address: <@yahoo.com>
From name:

You would need to activate the POP access from your yahoo account.

Tha pound.. Did you get this to work??

I cant get it to work on my T68! Can any1 help me??

I've added the information, as GOwin wrote, into the options for e-mail client.. and it still doesn't work!

Posted by GOwin
Do you already have your yahoo account?

Is it activated for POP access?

Make sure that you "personalize" the template settings I wrote.

Posted by socarb
You have to use the IP numbers. Try:

Pop3 server: 216.136.173.10

SMTP Server: 216.136.173.12

Good luck buddy!

Posted by Rasmusbj
I have personalized the data.

I've tried with the IP#, but the phone just says: Could not find the server!

Mailbox should be my Yahoo mail username right? So it should be like this when my mail is rasmusbja@yahoo.com:

POP3 server: pop.mail.yahoo.com (or 216.136.173.10)
POP3 port: 110
mailbox: rasmusbja
password: ******
SMTP server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com ( or 216.136.173.12 )
SMTP port: 25
Email address: rasmusbja@yahoo.com
From name: Rasmus Bjerregaard

?????

Thanx for the answers!

Under emaìl settings, rgrdng business card, it should be set to no business card. Before I experienced the same thing, but it works after checking the settings for business card. I hope this one help you. Good luck!:-o

Posted by lor
ok, I tried it and it works great
Only thing is, I have like 300 emails in my inbox, all old ones and it dloads em all or tries to

doesn't it just dload the new ones?

Posted by Rasmusbj
luwi can you specify?? I cant find the menu you are talking about?

Posted by luwi
@Rasmusbj

Go to -> Messages -> Options -> Email -> Edit Account -> Signature -> Set it to No Signature.

I hope this helps you.

Posted by lor
luwi, it works for me with or without the signature.

Posted by luwi
@lor, that is Great. The things that I share with you guys are based on my experienced. So when I used a business card, I can't retrieved my emails at my YAHOO account. When I set it to No Signature, it works. So I guess it is case to case basis.

T68 is the BEST!

Some times the operator puts restrictions on connections to other servers, try using te ericsson server to downioad your e-mails

Posted by lor
luwi, no problemo. I was just stating what happened when I tried to retrieve email from yahoo today.

I had to use IP instead of the host, it didn't find the server if not.

But the signature thing confuses me, could it be a network restriction or something? Yahoo has certain tutorials on how to use their pop feature to retrieve email, but no tutorials on retrieving from a wireless device [all tutorials are on outlook, or eudora or a similar client]

Posted by socarb
Talha! How do I use the Ericsson server? *curious*

Posted by decoy7
if you haven't seen it already check www.wapmx.com

you can access Yahoo mail via them too, sign up for a user id.

they also enable you to synchronise your Outlook or other email clients address book with your account online via PC then access them via wap.

Posted by Rasmusbj
Arg... it still doesn't work!! I have no signature on. So I really cant see what the problem now is.

It's just weird that some of you can get it to work.. but not me

Posted by luwi
@Rasmusbj

Probably the problem was at your Yahoo account. Could you please Log on to your Yahoo account then select Options (upper right portion) then select POP Access & Forwarding. Under this, Step1 - Select Web & POP Access. Step2 - Select HTML messages, then submit it. Then you will get the server settings of your Yahoo account (POP3 and STMP). Copy this settings to your phone. I hope this might solve your problem. Good Luck.

luwi, now i did exav´cly what you said, and it still can't find the server...

Strange.... it works perfectly with my outlook express!

Maby I Should enter my operators smtp address instead?? But I just don't have it..

Btw: luwi thx for the help!

Posted by Rasmusbj
Or does anyone know a free email provider with POP access??

Posted by levinlam
Hi, i can finally get the yahoo mail to work! Thanks guys!!]

But i need further help... i am just half way through.. i can download received mail in my inbox. BUT i can never send out and mail! always shows sent failed!

Help!!

Posted by Talha
Before you can use the ericsson server you have to configure the one of the data accounts. The best way to do that is using the ericsson suport portal and the wap configurator, when you get to the drop down list of wap portals choose ericsson wap.

I used to be able to receive & send e-mails via my t68 but 2 days ago i can no longer send. Im trying my R520 now & still cant send. I think it has something to do w/ service provider (Globe Telecoms) blocking my use of SMTP?

Posted by ferrarista44
I just checked my email a while ago using gprs, it was ok since 4 new mails went in. :)It couldnt have been globe.:es:

Posted by lor
you really shouldn't have a problem ras
worked like a charm for me the second time, after changing the host to ip for pop and smtp.

Posted by bjassal
I've had the exact same problem.

I only just brought the t68 last week (great phone!), but have been experiecing the same problems with 'Server not found' errors.

I've also tried the URL and direct IP address, but with no success.

Funnily enough I've been using Outlook as my mail client which has been working fine for 4-5 weeks until last week I was unable to end mail. I beleive that Yahoo are now enforcing that out-going mail must be authenticated.

Could this have any bearing on why I cannot send or receive any Yahoo mail from Wap ?

Also, could it be down to my Network provider ? I'm on One-2-One.

Thanks.

Posted by Rasmusbj
Yeah.. as bjassal writes. Could it be the Network providers fault, that we can't find the server??

Posted by Talha
If you think your network portal is at fault then you can try using the ericsson portal which works on all networks and is geared towards the T68's features

Posted by Rasmusbj
Talha, how do I do that?

Posted by verichsan
To ferrarista44
I still can't send e-mails via Yahoo SMTP but yes I can receive e-mails via Yahoo POP3! I checked my configuration and nothing had been changed! Now my brother can't send e-mails also. He is using a t39 with post-paid Globe line. What could be happening? It has been like this for about 4 days now! And at a time when I have been trying to tell my friends what a great phone Ericssons are! Are you using Globe?

Posted by gobrutz
Verichsan:
Try using the ffg Smtp server:

smtp.globenet.com.ph

Just make sure your gprs is working and you can send & receive yahoo mails by Outlook, Eudora, or others.

Posted by bjassal
verichsan :
As I mentioned in my previous mail, Yahoo are now enforcing that all outgoing mail has to be authenticated. (If using outlook, the
'My server requires authentication' must be ticked). This would explain why you have not been able to send out mail recently.

God knows if and how this can be configured on the t68. Nevertheless, it sounds like other people are still able to use it without any problem.

At least you folks have got this far!
I'm still getting server not found errors...

Posted by bjassal
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I can confirm that One-2-One (UK Based) does not support POP3 mail. Hence why I have not been able to access Yahoo or Vizzavi mail.

Kinda sucks.

In addition, they're planning go live of GPRS services, mid-year.

At least this is what they tell me. If you're on the one-2-one network, you could enquire by calling 879 (Their provisioning service).

This is so frustrating... It's like having a ferrari in a kiddies playground! You just can't harness the T68's strengths!!!!

Posted by bjassal
Following my last mail... a cry out in depseration...

Has any UK one-2-one based person been able to connect into a POP mail account successfully ?

I always get confused between the data connect settings, the WAP settings and Email settings.

I've been using the default One-2-One CSD Service to access WAP Portals.

If I were to use any other provider could I then access my Yahoo POP3 service ?

Posted by lor
All right guys, when I retrieve email through the phone, a long list of email stays in the inbox. And I can't delete em from the phone.

What do I do? It's just there and I can't get rid of em, so I have a constantly filled inbox, and even if it's not full. It has a long list of emails in it.

Posted by Talha
O.K...once you have retreived your e-mails, go in to the inbox highlight an e-mail you want to delete press the option key and select mark for deletion then go back to the e-mail menu and select send&receive this should erase the e-mails you marked ealier

Posted by stubee
I have been reading up on some of the forums on retrieving e-mails from my T68 today and tried to give it a go. After much faffing around I got it to work, but like many other it would seem, I cannot send my e-mails, only receive them. Is there any way round this? Im on Vodafone in the UK by the way.....

Posted by lor
scroll up man, someone said something about authenticating the emails.

Posted by Jimak
Are you using a DATA account? The ususal account for WAP browsing is not meant to access Internet and therefore it says "Cannot connect to the server".

Posted by lor
I am using a data account I think and I have no problems.

Btw, about deleting the list on my handphone. I can only mark for deletion, which means I lose the file in the server and I don't want that. I only want it off my phone so the list is free for more email.

I dont really understand this bit.
1) Why are we even using an Ericsson server?
2)What is an ericsson support portal?

Heeeeeelp

Posted by Talha
Some operators don't allow you to connect to other servers (login on to yahoo using your phones e-mail feature) therfore you have to use another mobile internet provider (ericsson) in order for you to use those features. Like using aol on a bt phone line

Posted by Talha
The ericsson support portal is a web site where you can get more info on your phone. You can also use the site to send you wap and e-mail settings via a message (saves you from waiting in tel support queues listening to boyzone :-o).

Posted by bjassal
Finally, I have been able to connect into Yahoo (Using the Ericcson WAP Portal).

But I'm now expericing the same problem as others ie. being unable to send emails.

Has anybody had any joy with this yet ?

Posted by dwarburton
I'm sure many of you may have received a similar e-mail from Yahoo in the past hour or so, but it seems they're turning on authentication for their SMTP (send) servers.

They kind of already did require authentication - you needed to have logged in to the POP server before the SMTP one. I think the reason a lot of people are having issues with Yahoo! is 'cos the phone tries to send mail before it receives.

I'm not sure how our beloved T68s will cope with requiring authentication on SMTP... any one know?

Dave.

I have the same problem with the email on the T68. I use VIZZAVI (wap settings) to make the connection. I have configure all the Yahoo settings in my phone and in my account. What do I do wrong? The phone can't find the server.

i cant send emails using yahoo account!! pls help i also try using my email client and here is the error message :

The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was 'almartin15@yahoo.com'. Subject 'test', Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Server: 'smtp.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '530 authentication required - for help go to http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/pop/pop-11.html', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 530, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

you can no longer send mail using yahoo's smtp server using the T68. it's smtp server now requires authentication. find an smtp server in the internet that does not require authentication, and use that in your T68.

in addition, yahoo announced today that starting april 24 2002, pop3 will no longer be available unless you pay a subscription fee of USD29.95 per year.

so forget yahoo if you don't intend to pay a subscription fee.

you can still access yahoo mail via WAP, but you can only read your mail. nothing more is available.
