A few people on here already know that my girlfriend was expecting a baby soon. After 2 days labour she gave birth at 3:49pm today (3rd July) to a girl who we have named Rebecca.
Both mum and baby are doing well despite a few complications (Rebecca nearly didn't make it as her heart was giving up due to stress) and we're hoping to bring her home tomorrow if the fluid in her lungs has cleared up.
Only 2 pics atm

Thanks everyone.
Been into hospital today as Rebecca is now in the intensive care ward in an incubator. She had to be put on oxygen and is being fed via a line into the back of her mouth atm.
Rebecca has an infection in her lungs and also a Cleft Palette which means she's getting food into her nose and windpipe. The hole is not very big but is big enough to harm her if not watched properly.
We're waiting for a consultant to arrive from Birmingham hospitial to have a look at her as she may have to be moved to Birmingham for an operation.

@rookwise: she'll be ok. we'll pray her
btw, is missus ok?
Posted by Rookwise
@tranced
Yes mate. Donna's ok. Just a little bruised from what had to be done but otherwise fine
Only just got home again from the hospital. Rebecca will need an operation in about 6 months time to correct the Clef Palette. The hole is medium size so we gotta be extra careful. Need to have longer ends on bottles so that the bottle goes further to the back of her mouth past the hole.
Rebecca's still on oxygen and in an incubator but she has started to increase her food intake
Posted by tranced
cheers mate. let's wait till then.
now, you both know that you need to be with her 25/7 in order to prevent any damage to her.
wish you the best on this new journey now. good luck Rookwise

Hi Andy,
Sorry for the late response im a busy woman lately
Rebecca is absolutely adorable and she looks alot like her Daddy,
anyway congrats yeah
Posted by tranced
@miss: yeah, she's so similar to him. when i saw her for the first time, rookwise came to my mind.
@rookwise: any news? i know you should be busy atm. but come here and tell us how's Rebecca
Posted by Rookwise
Hi
Thanks for the replies everyone. Donna came home yesterday (still very sore) but Rebecca is still in intensive care. She's doing really well and is fighting through. She's had a lumbar puncture to check if there is any infection anywhere else and has go to have a chromosome test today. Still not sure when she will be coming home but we are hoping for Tuesday. She is still not feeding from a bottle due to the chest infection and cleft palette so is having to be fed via a line still.

she's a real cutie indeed. congratulations! I hope she gets to come home soon!

Aww those piccys are so amazing !!!!
I hope she gets to come home soon Andy!

Rebecca's making a lot of progress. Went to see her today (spent 8 hours there with her) and was surprised to find her out of the incubator, off the oxygen and breathing on her own.
She's still in intensive care but is now in a cot. She still has to be fed via a syringe through a line in her nose and she still has a chest infection but is progressing very well.
We'll have some of the test results back tomorrow and the Cleft Palette team are visiting her in the morning.
I managed to feed, wind, dress and change her nappy today which was great

Hope Rebecca gets home soon.
Being a father of two boys (one little prick, you know, Calvin like behaviour, and another still coming) i can only imagine what you suffered these days.

congrats mate

Congrats on getting Rebecca home safe and sound, Im sure all will begin to go well from here in, God Bless.
P.s You might want to keep the phone away from her, as children at that age has very amplified hearing, so that buzzing from the network which can be quite inaudible (kind of like those dog whistles) could be quite annoying for your baby.

Cheers. She's not home just yet. Rebecca's practically taken to feeding from a bottle now so hopefully she will be home soon. Just got to wait until Tuesday when the Cleft Palette team come up from Birmingham. If they're happy with her progress she may be allowed home.
Oh. She had her feeding line removed out of her nose today

shes just like a baby toy!!
god bless

Andy is her hair blonde?
i'd keep the phone away from her personally,
radiation and all that you just never know whats correct atm
Posted by Rookwise
Her hair is the same colour as mine
The C902 was switched off btw although you are allowed to use your phone in the neo natal ward where Rebecca is. We turned our K850 and C902 onto flight mode for taking any pics.

What a heart-breaker, you'll need a shotgun to hang on the wall to show the prospective boyfriends when they start turning up. Congrats man and don't worry too much about health problems, just think about the first smile or giggle.
