retrieving info from locked/barred simcard

my exhusband has taken my simcard and after trying to unlock it blocked it. i have since had the sim barred but he has taken it to a computer expert where he works who supposedly is able to read locked sims and can take off the circuit board and attach it to another simcard to read. is this possible? does having it barred make any difference? i need to know whether he is able to get my deleted and saved messages and addresses. hopefully someone on here will know what it all means and can help. thanks
