Some branded phones are better than others. The branding can be quite subtle on some handsets but horrible on others.

Yeah I used to make homemade phones when I was young! Solid as a block of wood with felt-tip pen drawn buttons, and could call someone across the room! Great as a weapon too...

He he.

Sounds like a good idea for ridiculously funny new thread:

"Pictures Of Your Home Made Phones" although it sounds like that thread may exist already.

Contender for the Best Post Award methinks!

i prefere not to since i use different providers.
however there are some ups,
usualy the are sold much cheaper,
your phone is setup to go with all settings/services/etc.

downside is you have the provider custom menus
softwareversions are released later (if released at all)

Pros and cons
02- no play now icon a 02 download service icon instead but every thing else is the same
Tmobile- same as 02
3- comes with ugly main menu icons but th flash menus on th w910 look nicer than un branded
Orange- ugly icons with ugly flash menus
Vodafone- latest models (c902) come with very nice new menus they have finally been updated compared 2 previous models

Branded phones are not good in my opinion. They have changed user interface (on some operators) and limited some fuctions of the phone which makes the phone feel not original...

Branded phones tend to have lower and somewhat "less full" call quality.

I can only speak for the UK market but O2 seem to use the least branding/customisation of the networks, the others are highly network branded, thats why I tend to buy sim-free.

Well locked and branded phone it is different... Branded one is a phone which has menu and firmware customized by the operator but works with other operator sim cards with no problems (except GPRS and MMS for some operators) while locked phone, won't work with any other operator sim card except the one it is locked to

any hardware differences between branded and non-branded phones(beside the masks)???

Posted by EMS06
^^^
No, just software.

Posted by strizlow800
Hardware differences may appear on the external housing... Some operators like Orange are branding the housing of the phone (making it look uglier in my opinion)...

Posted by EMS06
Yeah, those. Just wonder if he meant any of them.

They only add stickers, logos or text labels on the housing. They don't touch the internal phone hardware

is K800's mask changeable?

mine looks like this (HW only):

Yes. You can debrand it and reflash it to the original SE software (menu), unfortunately you can't do anything about the Vodafone logo on the bottom of the screen unless buy a new housing.
