I'd say look under device management but ironically you need the drivers installed to be able to view the card model.
There a small white sticker on the card that says the model at all?

or you can try this..
on xp (sp1 or sp2):
right click your desktop - select Properties - click on the Settings tab - click on the Advanced button below - click on the Adapter tab.. that should take you on the details of your installed graphics (or video card) card properties including the model name and specifically the chipset that makes it work (normally - nVidia or Radeon among popular makers!).. of course, these are all dependent on the instance that you have installed your drivers
but windows automatically detects hardware that it supports (or have a prior arrangement for these manufacturers with them)..

Try running this system requirements test by selecting a game for ex: Crysis..and then clicking on Can you run it...it will test your pc's hardware and tell you if the game is compatible or not...in the report it will list out your pc's hardware...hopefully it doesn't require drivers installed for testing but you can give it a shot anyway...

Windows will only tell you the driver details. If there is no driver installed then any and all programs will tell you that it is "generic video adaptor" or similar.
Is it onboard graphics or an actual graphics card? You'll need to look at the hardware itself for clues!
