South Korea phone plans? What's the deal?

I plan on moving to S. Korea in August but was wondering what the cell phone plans are like. I know they use mostly WCDMA and that they also have UMTS2100 but what are the plans like? I can't find any sites that tell me a lick of information.

Also, the iPhone 3G does UMTS2100 does that mean I'll be able to use an iPhone on Korean networks? I know I can ROAM in korea if i kept my american plan but is that my only option to use my iPhone in korea?
