Well unfortuantely with petrol prices looking like they're going to stick for a while, i've decided to sell my 2.5ltr BMW and go for something at the other end of the scale... a Smart Car.
My mum drives one and loves it and not only that i didn't realise road tax is only £35 a year!!! (I'm paying £200) I'm paying £25 every week and half in petrol, £30 lasts my mum a whole month lol, and insurance is nearly £30p/m cheaper too.
So what I want to know is, does anyone else have a Smart Car and what do you think of them? Hopefully (keep your fingers crossed that I win the ebay auction) I pick it up on Sat
Will upload pics if I get it.

It's ok, Granmother has one.
I find it a bit too high up but apart from that its fine.

Well... it can stand up to a front impact from a wrecking ball.
+ you service them at Mercedes Benz, so I'd imagine they come with the 30 years corrosion warranty and roadside assistance like regular Mercs... Yep, THIRTY years.

Have you seen the video where Quentin Wilson drives it (remotely) into a concrete wall at 100mph? Pretty amazing stuff. You can still open both doors lol.

Was saying to my mum last week that I'd like to get a smart car also.

I wouldnt mind one myself, but the fact it has such a small engine puts me off. I don't want the speed, but like to feel a certain amount of responsiveness in a car, I think it would lack this...

^^ Get the Brabus one!

My wife had one and loved it, I drove it a few times and it was good fun to drive!
Actually, it's for sale still if you want it, PM me if you do for more details!

Would love a cabriolet version but money IS an obligation lol...wonder if its possible to make it into a cabriolet hmmm...

Hahaha!
No.
The Brabus turbo model is quite good from what I read.
Bit toy-like for me, but I can understand the attraction.

Either the Smart, or look at the Panda, or if you don't want to lose some of the cred from your BMW, the Smart Roadster and Smart Coupe offer similar MPG and tax etc to the standard smart but are far faster and cooler

^^But uglier. I don't like the front end with those weird googly lights.

All I'll say is, the sand bags behind the front bumper are there for a reason.

Posted by procterdc
Yup, should be fun. Only major problem i face with lefty...McDonalds drive thru. I'll just have to reverse lol.
Posted by fatreg
it's so dinky you'll just have to lean across or take a passenger!
Posted by arien617
Daniel... why did you buy a left hooker?!
Posted by procterdc
Cheaper to buy, and it'll be fun lol

I guess motorway slip roads won't really be an issue, visibility is good?
Posted by procterdc
Tbh i only really drive around town. Occasionally i go to Blackpool (god forbid) but thats about it. So having a small car like this makes sense i guess. Gonna be interesting driving it back from Wales though lol.

You're gonna have to go past me one way or another lol

I'll try me best then. But I'm working nights tonight so won't get to bed until 8am... All depends on when I wake up.

One from Wales turned out to be a bag of balls lol, so I bought this from Liverpool today and I'm well impressed lol.

Really nice mate, i'm jelous lol.

Cheers mate. I love it. Only thing is, due to it being in the disabled tax class, i gotta go down to DVLA in preston and get it changed to PLG. So am gonna wait til the end of the month which is only a week off, so I can get the whole 12 months tax.
