Verizon Wireless announced three new phones today: the LG Dare, a touch-screen camera phone; the LG Decoy, with a built in wireless headset, and the Chocolate 3, a flip music phone with a control wheel on the front.

The Dare^ looks like the latest in the iPhone-competitor sweepstakes that also includes entrants like the Samsung Instinct on Sprint and the LG Vu on AT&T. The Dare isn't a smart phone, but it has a big touch screen, no keypad and an unusually good 3.2 megapixel still and video camera, according to Verizon's press release. The camera automatically adapts to low light and comes with both a photo editing tool and hooks to upload pictures social-networking Web sites. The Dare uses the same kind of touch-based interface we're seeing on a lot of the iPhone followers, with swiping and flicking used to scroll and select things.

Verizon didn't announce a price or release date for the Dare

The LG Chocolate 3^ gets rid of the slider form used by the previous two Chocolate models, in favor of the more popular flip phone form factor. As a music-oriented phone, it has 1 GB of built-in memory to store songs, and room for a MicroSD memory card up to 8 GB. The phone works as a music player with the flip closed; the signature Chocolate scroll wheel is on the outside of the flip. The phone also has a 2-megapixel camera. Verizon didn't announce a price, but said the phone would be available in July.

The Decoy, arriving Monday for $179.99, is the first phone on the US market to include a built-in Bluetooth wireless headset. We'll have a full hands-on with an in-depth slide show in just a few minutes, so keep your eyes peeled.
