Trying to use TreoMail on my Treo 270 to get my O2.co.uk emails to my handset. I tried mail.02.co.uk and smtp.o2.co.uk (I was told by O2 that the port was 9201?) and only seem to be able to 'send' emails using the mail.o2.co.uk one). I dont know how to receive emails from the O2 pop3 to my handset using TreoMail.

I tried yahoo (pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk) and it works absolutely fine for both send and receive via TreoMail but I really want to use O2 as my email cos they send me free txt alerts to my handset as well.
HELP!

Use 193.113.160.13 for incoming and outgoing server. And your mailbox is username@o2.co.uk. The rest of the settings are left as default.

normally the port is 110... but if that's what they say. tell us when you've got it working!

I use the default post of 110 and it works fine, just as long as you use the ip that i provided rather than the text ones

thanks for your efforts but I am afraid I still cant get it to work! Using that IP you gave me . . . I can 'send' but I cant receive . . . . . . . I cant even get my Outlook Express to access the O2 pop3 server as a double-check. My username and passowrd are fine because I can log on to O2's website ok (plus I can 'send' to the mail server). Also I know my Treo and TreoMail are ok cos they work fine with the yahoo settings so I am still stuck! Does anyone on here actually successfully use TreoMail via GPRS to access O2? Tell me how . . . . please!!

I think I have worked out the problem here!!!! I dont think O2 let you 'read' their mail server unless you do so by connecting from an O2 phone line . . . now, as I am using Onetel at home for my internet access then that would explain why my Outlook Express cant read their server . . . and I strongly suspect that TreoMail's central command system does not use O2 as its telecom provider!!!!! that would explain everything . . . . . unless someone on here can actually tell me that they can get their O2 emails via the TreoMail???

Hi... there could be many problems you could be facing here. Firstly the incoming and outgoing mail address you've got has the number '0' rather then the letter 'o'. Is this the case on your phone? are you sure you have got the incoming as 'mail.o2.co.uk' and outgoing as 'smtp.o2.co.uk'?

let me know how you get on

I contacted o2 and they told me the incoming server should be pop3.mail.o2.co.uk and outgoing should be mail.o2.co.uk. I tried this but it didn't work. However I now have my account working perfectly with the I.P address that was supplied ealier in this thread by geo2k
using the default port as well. The only other thing to check is that your account's protocol is set to POP3 and not IMAP4.

Well the incomin mail server they provided is wrong... I work for o2 and specialize in the data field! Staff nowadays... Anyway glad to hear its all sorted.
