Hey guys today I'm going to get P1i or NokE51. My question is how is the P1i with current firmware? Is green color on picture issue solved? If I buy P1i then should I sure about any hardware or batch number on P1i?

as far as i know, the green thing on the camera ain't firmware fixable, in a way that it's defective kind of thing
however, i still think it's one of the best all around symbian device, thanks to its semi-qwerty keyboard, just imo

but ya dont like the green tint issue i have a K790i and want a camera phone which is as good if not better then this but want smart phone capabilities also

My P1i just stopped showing any indicator for new SMS message received.
any one faced that before?

Yeah, I've had that one too. Not sure what's causing it, and it seems completely irregular.. but probably the message- notification program hangs. Maybe after going to flight mode while you have a connection open? I suppose it could be something that runs and fails when you're in flight- mode? But I can't reproduce it.

I think i know what it is guys. When you change the ZSBLIB (i think that is the correct folder name), basically the status bar icons on the P1 it sometimes messes up and does not display the messages icon when a message is receiving.
If you go back to the default status bar icons it shouldn't happen.
In my case i used the ZSBLIB file within the resource folder on my memory stick and the message icon was irratic. However once i removed it the messages never had a problem since.

yes the phone did hang with the Internet connection. i did go to flight mode and back to phone mode and thats what caused it.
i just restarted and the problem seems to have gone for now.

I've seen this too - may be after you plug in to a PC in File Transfer mode, i'm using a replacement font and sometimes some of the letters vanish until I reboot, but only if I've plugged it in (or removed the Mem card which has the same effect I guess...)

lol, dumb question but if your THAT fussed over the camera to where you'd see a tiny bit more green, why are you looking at the E51 too? It's got a crap camera but its a good phone.

I bought a Sonyericsson P1i in Dubai Duty Free late September 07. A month later, in Kuwait where I work, the phone turned itself off. When I turned the unit back on it went in a loop of turning on, showing the SE logo, displaying the progress bar as if to complete the boot, and then turning itself off - it has been like that since.
I contacted the service center(Fono) in Dubai that was on the warranty. I was told that they cannot honor the warranty and that I should contact the place where I bought the unit.
I contacted the SE service center in Kuwait (Barrak) where they looked at it for a couple of hours then told me "to bring it back to dubai."
I went back to Dubai in December, 07 and contacted the Customer Service of the Dubai Airport Duty Free Shop - where I bought the unit. I showed the person at the counter the problem (booting on and off) - I was told that they will arrange for the unit to be sent to their service center. I went back to Kuwait.
In JAnuary, 2008, the Duty Free emailed to inform me that they couldn't do anything with the unit and attached to the email was a report from the service center saying that the motherboard of the unit is bent; and that the unit has been misused - and that I should collect the unit.
How could I have misused a brand new phone for its motherboard to bend? So I wrote back in protest.
They said that the SE service center in Kuwait might be responsible - and that I should have contacted the Duty Free first. But the warranty said that I shoud contact Fono - which I did. Who contacts the retailer for repair anyway?
A lot of pages of email later, I went back to Dubai in March and collected the unit.
So now, I have a Sony Ericsson P1i that's been used for only a month, that boots on and off and still under warranty (until Sept.2008). I have long since bought a Motorola Z6.
Lessons learned:
Do not buy a phone in Dubai Duty Free Shop. If I had gone home to Australia, it meant that I had to go back to Dubai to have it repaired. Also, what is the sense of issuing me a warranty card that was inaccurate? I will never shop there again.
Sony Ericsson's customer care service is appaling. The service centers in the Gulf are incompetent. I have two service centers pointing fingers at each other. By the way, I bought my first Sonyericsson phone in 2003, a T610. The same thing happened (booting on and off) but there was no problem fixing it in Australia. But because of this bad P1i experience, I will not buy another Sonyericsson phone again.
I am thinking of hiring a lawyer to actually sue. What do you think? If there's anyone who could help please contact me.

Regarding to the person that said that the green tint isnt a firmware eror is wrong , on my old k750i I had a green tint moded it with a camdriver & the pictures were cristal clear.To whoom want to buy a P1i i suggest you to buy cause its going to be lots of mods like the k750i especealy if its symbian , don't have the phone at the moment but ill wait till my birthday & Christmas.
I'm sory to hear that u got phonied out but I'l advise you to reconsider about Sony Ericsson cause its a pretty cool brand & it has faithfuled (make a person faithful) a lot of persons.Guess you just had started with the wrong foot , not by your fault

The only real issue I have with the P1 is the speed of the interface can be a bit slow at times - the messaging app is the worst for this IMO.
However, apart from that, it's really good. The new ozone web browser seems to be a lot better than the built in one so far (faster and easier to use) and the hacks make it even better (for instance the walkman hack is nice to have)
