Email and internet will not work unless it is used on the Docomo network with a Docomo contract. I think so because the apn cannot be changed.
I know this was true for Sharp 903 and The Sony Ericsson 802 s-e
From the thread " only voice calls, media player, sms and camera work " if not used on a Japanese network with Japanese contract.

Only voice call SMS, Media and Camera.. Still need browser..
