looks way too fancy, imo a htc should look serious, cos its for biz, not for show off imo

Looks beautiful
Posted by NightBlade
Yep.
It's almost like Paris in terms of specs, too.
Posted by Yakkaimono
That's the most beautiful handset of HTC and the specs are nice too.
Posted by bavlondon2
Looks like the X1with the whole diamond thing. Maybe when you put the X1 and this together they transform to create one super phone!!! lol
Posted by EMS06
It does look sleek, doesn't it? One thing though, that screen looks like it is 2.6 inches long.
Posted by Yakkaimono
Over on engadget they said that these specs could be for Raphael and not for dream.
Posted by KingBooker5
Looks very over the top. And like many other phones like these, I doubt the features make up for the design.

Looking at it again it just doesn't say business. Reminds me of the K810, more of a fun phone. 4gb is a welcome change on a business phone though.
Posted by BobaFett
i can hardly imagine a wm as a fun fone... or went htc crazy?

True, but I think this is an HTC stab at SE's Xperia X1 model. Too many similarities in its non modern design (sharp edges I mean), yet still being modern.
Posted by BobaFett
well, imo more will go for this then as for xperia or paris . wm fans dont miss se uiq...
Posted by NightBlade
Yeah, but the X1 is better than this...
Posted by BobaFett
its a matter of taste whats better and why imo. it will be out soon ( if the infos are correct ) and god knows when xperia will be out...
when both will hit the market, then the buyers will decide which is "better" and that will show in the sales.

Don't forget that HTC is producing the X1. On seeing the back, my first thought went to the Nokia 7500...
Posted by BobaFett
now the question is, which was first designed? xperia or diamond? i just think loud, cos some of us popped up here with the xperia and the design.
Posted by Raja
Any clues/guesses on what the weight might be?

looks cool, nice design

What's the difference between Qualcomm MSM 7201A and 7200A (as in SE X1)?
What's eGPS? Is it different from aGPS?
IMHO, 4GB internal memory will the advantage of this HTC over X1.

Never really liked the diamond inspired shape.

you can scrub the QWERTY keyboard out of the specs list in first post.
Clearly there is no slide out keyboard, you can see from the pics. Besides, slide out qwerty on 10.5mm body? I highly doubt it....
Other than that, looks good. Am i ready for no keypad yet though? hmmm.......

it's a lot more mwg atom v than the x1 xperia.
@boba,
windows mobile does not necessarily mean all work & no play or does it?☺
Posted by Yakkaimono
Isn't that the diamond or is it raphael?
If it's diamond which I think it is then you can clearly see that it has a key board.
Posted by makbil
Well, that's what you get when you have your supposedly flagship phone built by others. They build a better one under their own brand.
This one definitely makes it to the top of my list if I decide to go WM way. They have added what I always saw as a major missing feature in HTC Tytn II, FM radio.
Posted by >500
@Yakkaimono
well going by a couple pics on page 1, the edges are closed off on some angles, so dont see how something could slide out when they are closed off
we'll soon see though
Posted by Yakkaimono
Well after a closer inspection I think you're right >500. But what of the pic I posted?
Anyway we should wait two more days and then we will know enough.

HTC unveils new HTC Touch Diamond, "not too big, not too small"
Posted by BIG-Stan
This thing is pretty hot! And the touchflo 3d is more usefull than those little 9 panels that SE wants to implement in X1.
Trying to make up my mind which to get.....SEX1 or the upcoming Raphael (Touch diamond+qwerty keyboard)....
Posted by bavlondon2
Can someone please tell me what the difference is between the Qualcomm MSM 7201A and 7200A (as in SE X1)?

How do you know?
Posted by bavlondon2
Just found some stuff on the net and it looks like maybe there is no difference between 7200 and 7201 although hopefully Akshay can confirm.

This phone really looks great.

I love it.
Posted by BIG-Stan
Well, cause by looks of it, the panels are nothing special except for a visual task manager/shortcuts. I bet you can do all that stuff without the panels just as fast as with them. i.e. switching through windows and programs.
Dont get me wrong, I too do want x1 or raphael but these panels are certainly not reason to get it. Just trying to figure out whats better.

Yeah, but we can't judge X1's UI. It's not even finished yet!
Posted by laurenke01
Absolutely stunning device and a beautiful interface...but triband GSM is epic fail.
Here's to hoping for a rightful Touch Cruise successor in the future.
Posted by masseur
this looks good but after checking the specs the down sides (for me) are :-
900mAh battery
4gb internal memory (which is a basic level these days)
no external expansion via micro-sd etc
it still uses the HTC mini-usb connector for headsets, i.e. no 3.5mm socket
quadband GSM would have been better as would quad (or even quinn(?)) band UMTS
X1 still has my money waiting for it
Posted by BIG-Stan
You're right, but just judging from SEs past and all that stuff that happened including rumors (m600, p990 & w950 would get the new ui with shortcuts on the homescreen) I really doubt and dont trust SE at all.
I mean that would be a BIG bang if SE came out with a new ui and not jsut the panels....I just dont see it happen. But I bet the media manager would e nice, sort of like the regular se phones
Posted by bavlondon2
Will X1 be able to view pics in the same way by sliding?
Posted by laurenke01
Don't think so.
I like the X1 well enough, but I am not impressed by the panels. I LOVE the 3D TouchFlo of the Diamond...but, again, the bands don't work for me at all.
Looks like I'm hanging onto my N95 for even longer.

Well, it will have kinetic sliding (like on the iPhone), so I guess yes. But I've only seen it in the Media menu.

I hope video capture is 30fps VGA as on the X1.
Posted by Yakkaimono
The only thing I'm missing is a qwerty keyboard and maybe a bigger screen so I think I'll go for the X1. Maybe Raphael will have one.
Posted by laurenke01
I really hope Raphael has the same 3D TouchFlo interface. Given it will be called the "Touch Pro," this seems likely, but I'm still reserved.
Posted by BIG-Stan
Same here, I really hope that Raphael will have a bigger screen...
But right now I'd still go with x1. The bigger screen and the metal housing is just a big plus. But I really miss a accelerator in it.
