The Free Unlocking doesn't apply to Pay As You Go customers only Pay Monthly just so you know!

I prefer O2's policy of not locking them in the first place.

Sounds like pants to me, as the system in store still tells me to charge £19.99 per code.
Also 90% of vodafone handsets are locked

well you still end up with awful voda firmware
so its not worth the trouble

Super, It may take awhile before all Vodafone employees are aware of it, if u dig deeper into the eforum it mentions that. Nice to know all handsets will come unlocked from them btw

That explains why my w890i came unlocked then
Quote from their eforum:
"If your phone is locked to our network, only Vodafone UK SIM's will work in it unless you ask us to unlock it. We now provide unlock codes free of charge for pay monthly customers as we've now stopped SIM locking our phones."

There new eForum is really helpful,
they don't offer existing customers cheap Mobile broadband yet however they've even advised me to contact them and they'd fix me a deal
I think the Voda shops will be notified of the unlocking though soon seems there making quite a few changes
Im hoping they will increase there 120MB data to something higher next

As usual pay as you go customers get treated like 2nd class customers. They dont get unlock codes why not. I dont like O2's policy for pay and go now cos you gotta have had your pre pay phone for at leasts one year before they give you the code. Thats pants i understand their way of thinking but once the phone is bought surely its yours and you have the right to do whatever with it. From now on im buying all my pay and go phones from CPW as there all unlocked from my experience.

Vodafone will unlock prepay phones if u have an account. Bet I could get them to unlock 1 for me as im a Postpay customer. 02 wont do that ive tried before with a D900i they said it was £15 to unlock even tho I was a customer of them at that time.
